No Steam Deck 2 For At Least a Few Years

How would that entice them? I am more likely to buy something if its cheaper and if I know it will be the latest model for longer.
I would be more likely to buy one if it was faster...

Yeah, the Steam Deck "competitors" also typically cost 3-4x times more money. I imagine they keep updating their hardware because edging the Deck on hardware is the only advantage they can realistically offer.

Not 3 or 4 times, but yeah around double. Aya (and others) have a couple of cheaper alternatives but those don't really compare well (either low spec or arm and android)

Upgrade once per console gen seems more logical. Unless you can get a much better battery life, in which case a mid gen update makes sense.
5-7 YEARS??? No way will that underpowered thing be playing AAA games in 5 years time! Well, unless they have "potato" as an option in the graphics settings!

Maybe but not everyone plays modern AAA games. They make up a tiny part of the steam library.

I think this is irrelevant.

Valve are open and active in allowing others to use Steamos and I see active cooperation on driver's ui and controls.

Valve are way ,way ahead of everyone else on gamepad compatibility and user configuration ( I found my glasses)

I have a deck, great buy, I wouldn't mind a deck two twice as fast, but I think it's easier and could be better if others worked on hardware too.
Choice is king.

Valve do make good hardware at amazing prices though the base model and another SSD to fit in it can't be beat , even the highest priced one has no pear in its price range in performance term's, so they did good them Valve engineers.

If the games run at 60fps on consoles, then running 30fps on the deck seems viable.
