Yeah, I tried that already. Uninstalled everything and reinstalled. I have a custom config so I can use EQ APO (along with Peace EQ for 32 band per channel room EQ) and DD+, but I tried just DD+ and it's still blank but as mentioned Dolby Digital still works fine. I only have Dolby DS1 checked.

Have been using this setup for over a year and only recently did that tab go blank, maybe a Windows update broke old Dolby features?

I figured it out. I used the Dolby Digital Plus app and was able to enable it there.

Got DTS Connect working over HDMI along with Equalizer APO, gives more gain and much better dynamic range compared to DD which allows more headroom for manual Room EQ with Peace+REW+MiniDSP UMIK-1. Much higher bitrate at 1.5mbps vs 640kbps of old DD. Using HDMI > HDMI Audio Extractor > Optical > 2x Panasonic SA-HE200. Can play DD+/Atmos/DTS:X and it automactically downsamples to DTS.

At some point I'd like to upgrade receivers but anything better in the SQ/power department compared to these old mosfet receivers is $1000+.

Sure, first I'm using APO Driver. I know some have found some suspect activities in some versions but I first tried it in a VM and didn't see the version I have doing anything strange with unhackme, etc. Use at your own risk, YMMV, etc.

First I went through and installed Peace Equalizer.

I installed APO Driver with only DTS Connect and FX Config selected. Then used the config below, should just need to import, apply, and restart windows sound service.

Here is the FX Config I'm using on a 1080ti, just create a file with notepad and paste this in, change extension to INI.

I found that if the speakers are not set to large you may not get audio in some applications. Also Audio Enhancements may need to be disabled.

Hiya! I'm looking for help with Apo driver, is this the place to ask?

I'm trying to use Apo Driver to get 5.1 Dolby surround out of a Windows 10 HTPC with a GTX 1030. I've got my HDMI hooked to a Chinese toslink splitter box that's supposed to support 5.1 Dolby Digital - HDMI to my Samsung TV, TOSLINK to my old Yamaha surround sound system.

I've removed my nVidia driver and am using the Microsoft High Definition Audio driver, which is a common recommendation.

I've got Apo Driver installed with Dolby DS1, and I'm using the Product Config Tool to set my HDMI output as "Dolby Digital Plus Home Theatre". This gives me a "Dolby Digital" option in the Default Format selector of the Advanced Properties selector of my sound output, which is good.

I can establish a full dolby digital stereo-only connection and get stereo through that... but if I try to enable 5.1 speakers on my PC from the Speakers Configuration screen, I get an error message about it being unsupported. And if I pick 5.1 in the system tray, it silently switches me off of "Dolby Digital" in the format selector (when I go back to Advanced Properties it's back to hz and bits)

Anybody run into anything like this before?

I've gone through the whole rigamarole with both the Dolby DS1 + Dolby Digital Plus Home Theatre setup and the Dolby EEE4 or whatever it is with the Dolby Home Theatre v4. I get the exact same outcome both times.

Does that old receiver support DTS? If so you'd get better sound quality with DTS per my instructions listed above. For both DD and DTS you will not get an option for 5.1 audio in the windows sound setup, it will just show stereo but if you play something that supports 5.1 audio it will play to the correct speakers if set up correctly.

Yes, the old receiver supports DTS, I'll give that a shot, thanks. Although I tried swapping in a Chromecast and found that I couldn't get Dolby Digital out of that either so now I'm supecting my toslink audio splitter was junk.

The Netflix Test Patterns are a good 5.1 test, right?

But some Windows 11 update ago it just stopped, no biggie i just reinstall it.. but whatever i do i can't get APO driver to let me open FX Configurator after install.?!

2. Install it (First Tho Disable Driver Signiture Enforcement)
3. After That Open Geforce Experiance If U Have Or Download Latest NVIDIA Driver From OEM Website Or Official Website
4. Run It And Tap Custom Install Then Chose Whatever U Want But NVIDIA High Definition Audio And Ur Good Finish The Install! (Just To Know This Isnt DS1)

NOTE: I Havent Tested It And Nor Do I Know Anyone Who Has

Netflix can be a little picky how it outputs to surround on Windows. I personally only play through Jellyfin/MPC-HC/MadVR from my local media server, but I think I did have Netflix/Hulu/Amazon working properly at one point.

As far as the Chromecast goes it you'll likely only get stereo because it will just passthrough whatever the source is (DD+, Atmos, etc) and the old receiver doesn't support that. Using the APO helps because it will downsample whatever the source is (whether it's Atmos, DTS-X, DD+, etc) to a format that the old receiver can support.

Hi everyone. This post is a bit off-topic, but still, seeing as there are a lot of genkga specialists... I'd really like to activate DDL and/or DTS Connect encoder for Audigy 2zs/X-FI cards, that is in Daniel_K's pack.

The encoder has this DDL and DTS encoder licence activation app, where you enter the key and then it called back to mothership to activate the key. I do have a purchased key from 2016, but since 2021 they brought down the activation servers it seems and now I'm getting the 8000 error.

I know that it doesn't have much in common with X-FI mb3 and the like, but I noticed that the protection engine is the same. It creates KGA files when the key is successfully activated. For example on my Windows 10 machine I had CTL42SW23M.kga, CTLD2JX234.kga and CTLD14KLI5.kga files after activation and also B533F000.dat in Creative Labs\Licences folder. This dat file is generated even before the app contacts the creative's server but after I entered the key.

Some time later I even transfered this licence on to the cleanly installed Windows 11 on the same machine. I simply copied KGA files and that DAT file and it all worked. When I launched the activation app, it said that the software features were already activated.

But now I'd like to activate the key on another pc and since the servers are down, I have to resort to GenKGA. But I can't for the life of me get it to work. I generated the appropriate files and removed the other KGA files GenKGA generated. When I launch the app, it still tries to go after activation. It creates the dat file after I enter my key - and then tries to contact the server and then errors out, but these KGA files aren't working.

Do I miss any steps? Can GenKGA create dat files? Or I should generate them some other way? Is it possible to give GenKGA my valid key so that it will generate KGA files from it?

I've used many many brand and models of laptops/desktops since 2005. I even sell my laptop twice for poor audio quality. I've used DTS:X, Creative blaster Z, Sony Vaio Xloud and Xclear sound, Dolby Home theater, Nahimic, Via sound deck, boom 3d, fxsound and come to a definite conclusion: SRS Audio Premium and Beats audio with IDT sound chip gives the best audio experience you could have get in a computer system. (generally comes with HP and Dell) While I respect everyone's opinion, I kindly ask everyone to try these two softwares. Here are the screenshots and unpacked drivers for you to look into if you like:
Trust me, these two software are really doing great, and I would like you to experience by yourself.

I had a similar issue. FX Configurator just stopped working after trying 2.10.6 x64. Using the first suggestion in 2.10.6 x64 throws an error 'Class_ScrollGUI.ahk' cannot be opened. This is present in version 2.10.5 which works using FXConfigurator.ahk, but not 2.10.6.

Copying manually into the 2.10.6 fixes it.

Thanks for the suggestion to look at the ahk route.

Edit: Unfortunately FXConfigurator in W11 no longer seems to work for me. Dolby Digital no longer appears on the dropdown after applying :-(

What is DJ Urkos DTPC in comparison to the normal way of enabling DD?

EDIT: In Comparison DTPC Is Better Since It Comes With DHTv4 And The Actual DTPC And + Custom Driver With Old Dolby Tuning So I Would Prefer DTPC Over Normally Enabling It But Yeah Its Your Choice

Well... at least for now as the official drivers retain the same 'format' and sections.
Alan actually included titles above the lines he added explaining the purpose and logic behind his modifications.
So for me this wasn't just a dry copy/paste job...
You can clearly follow the logic as Alan was injecting the extra .dll's included in his package which are in fact official Dolby signed files.

Alrernatively, you could use dome diff tool to compare the .inf's and have it modded within minutes
