It's a dual nvme slot lenovo ThinkPad p71 with i7 7700HQ at least, gen 3 as well, the one inserted on the other slot is 256gb m.2 sata though heh

*raising my index* (no, not the middle finger... ) carbon and carbon nanotubes, sooooo technically ... diamonds? (and MRI ANC headphone R&D )
Um, ok. And?!? Seriously, $4500 for a single set of headphone. For that price they better sing to you with a voices of the angels themselves...

My small peepee

Mainly bearings for wheel hubs and bicycle tyres.

Though at the moment I want to upgrade some of the bearings in a fishing reel and nobody here sells upgrade kits so I would have to import them. Kits are overpriced to begin with and i'd end up paying import duty on it anyway so its easier for me to measure the bearings when i dismantle my reel and order them individually from a UK seller - a lot lot cheaper.

otherwise its still a handy tool to have. Its not a very expensive one to begin with. Its very very cheap.

i'm sort of looking to eventually be pretty self sufficient when it comes to bicycle maintenance. I'll eventually also have a bearing puller and more tools.
Dude, if it's THAT small, you have better more important things to worry about..

carbon, but its not easy to cut. If anyone has any suggestions, Im open to them.

Yes, some types of carbon dust are bad enough for your health it is highly recommended to avoid home gaming your home gaming solution. Outdoors with robust PPE and the kids not sitting right above you with the window open would be a decent safety third point of departure.

i am more baffled by the Yamaha in spoiler that cost 5k+ being planar magnetic
or the STAX e-stat flagship that cost 1700$ more ;)

well cheap e-stat do exist ... even from the master themselves, they even have a "cheap" "portable" (or rather transportable) driver (STAX Pro Bias, aka: "580V DC" compatible ofc)
1680324232590.png1680324362283.png
and yes, that's what e-stats entry level looks like from STAX (well 1400$ is cheap in that case :D )

For that price they better sing to you with a voices of the angels themselves...
according to some ... they do ... well to me going from HiFi cert. standard DD to hybrids, BA+DD, then to Planar magnetic/Isodynamic/Orthodynamic was like going from 720p to 1620p passing by 1080p  and yes that analogy make the third kind a bigger jump than from first to second.

professionals opinions

well ... audiophile is not cheap and when it's not a snake oil scam like network cable, switches and other component or ... MQA (yeah ... not on the MQA bandwagon ...) it's worth it
(although i will always seek cheaper, be it promo, demo model, auction et caetera ... i am still budget constrained  )

yep, I almost got the L300 a long time ago, it was even cheaper in a combo deal with the amp at launch if I remember right. I should have done it. its end game from what I understand, puts everything else to shame.

edit: to be clear, I don't think they are worth their MSRP price. high end stax 5k+ is worth it if you are rich.

well, if i had the finances i would have gladly gone that way too ... for now i am more than happy and impressed by the Edifier STAX Spirit S3 (2 days worth of listening, around, probably 10hrs in total, now, 98% battey remaining) these are awesome wireless (sound good wired too) cans and if i did not get a promo price, i would not mind the full price given how they sound.

seems like a good choice. I am considering in some nice ANC earbuds, like the $250 new Bose ones or the equivalent Sony tier. but for now I am holding off. I just want the rest of the world to be quiet, so I want top tier ANC, but also be able to play basketball with them in (without falling off)

i mentioned how ANC make me feel, it's to a point that actually a lack of ANC is a pros and not a cons  luckily ANC does not come with a hefty premium (the Gravastar Sirius were priced same as the previous Nothing ear(1) and the later was the one with ANC, which i tested a few time and never turned on again later  )

but based on sound alone ... i'd recommend Sony over Bose, based on sport usage, i'd also say sony, ANC? well i would base myself by reviews but Bose is the pioneer (no not the brand) in ANC tho Sony upped their game, it seems, in that domain and became damn near excellence (excellent headaches for me, that is! AH AH! )

You're not going to believe this, but I actually had to buy a motherboard for the Intel processors in this article:
Oh yeh, and don't worry about it competing against any TPU articles, this one is...er...unique :p

A 10-pack of PNY 32GB USB 3.0 Flash drives for $31 off Amazon last night. I already had a $25 Amazon gift card so even with sales tax they cost me $7.00. Even better because I have Prime they were delivered at 10 a.m. this morning. Now I can make some install flash drives for Win 10 LTSC and a few different versions of Win 11 complete with folders that have all the latest hardware drivers and software I regularly use plus I'll also have drives left over for future use.

For the price and delivery speed it was an unbeatable deal and I needed to make the Windows install drives.

that's a really good deal. I have no idea what I would use that many for, but that is pretty crazy how cheap flash drives have gotten. I still have my 512mb sandisk flash drive from my middle school days... still works too. lmao i think it was like 30 bucks or something. don't remember.

At $3.20 each for 32GB USB 3.0 drives delivered to my door in a matter of hours after ordering is a deal that can't be beat. I have more flash drives than I can count quickly but most of them are several years old by now. They're from back when 4GB was considered huge. I also have newer 128GB & 256GB drives as well as USB C drives but using those for OS install drives is foolish.

Was hunting for USB drives since a 4GB, 8GB and 64GB have died in the last few months - all very old, and all wore out while being used as OS installers in summer (Formats, lots of small file copies, heat)
Local stores want $30 for a 3 pack of 8GB USB 2.0 devices, or amazon had this - and a reminder this is $AUD
1680414961441.png

Comments summarise it as: 100MB/s read, 40MB/s write, larger size helps it overheat slower than the newer smaller devices.
Many of those comments are from uneducated people with no idea what they're talking about, and few realise speeds varied between sizes (But someone did comment those speeds about this 128GB model)
"unlike my other Sandisk flash drives, this one barely gets warm at all, even through a long copy of a 20GB file to it."

Snagged two, they'll be useful for a long long time. I still have a 128MB flash drive i use for BIOS updates, and one 8GB for my kid to watch movies off the smart TV without hammering the net for the same movie over and over and over and over and over...

Got this for my desktop. Arrived today.
1/2 height NVME adapter board with cheap NVME.
Amazon EUR 35 for both, incl. postage.
To be used for pagefile and temps, speedups.
And to avoid thrashing of SSD, extending life.
I have two of these adapter cards in a very similar style, it's great that NVME is pure PCI-E making riser cards so cheap.

Use primocache (or similar) as a write buffer onto that SSD - i'm seeing upto 50% write reductions on my C: Drive
(It's using TRIM and un-deleting previously created identical files to prevent a write, say a browser caching copies of users profile pictures or images from the page. It also avoids writing things that are no longer needed, so closing a tab after they load but before the write - they never write in the first place)

Thats the sorta thing i went looking for and didn't find (or didn't like what i found, with USB 3.0 drives writing at 5MB/s)

Got a new cooler on the way.. gonna have to sell a couple locally I think.. My collection is bordering on hoarder status, and those boxes are taking up space :D

I really want to use both of my Thermalright NVME coolers for when I am running this thing semi passively, the GPU literally breathes its hot breath all over it.

I also have a Strix B660-i sitting at the CAN/US border.. I plan on 32GB G.Skill DDR5 6400ish (maybe) and a 13700K.

Kinda tech? I used to have a corner desk with a lower shelf I kept my sub in the middle as my foot rest. After I finally had to say goodbye, my new Ikea Fredde desk has nothing but a narrow bar so I needed something to put my feet on so my first attempt was a pretty terrible Kensington foot rest figuring they would make something decent. They do not. So I finally saw an ad for this one and said THATS what I want. Its metal with nice rubber grips and cost me almost half the terrible plastic one did..

That 10-pack of 32GB USB flash drives was a one day only deal; they're $10 more now. A single drive alone is over $6.00.

That's probably what I like most about working from home - I'm the receiving department. The first rule about Amazon deliveries is we don't talk about Amazon deliveries. :rockout:

The struggle is real. :D I finally had to have a talk with myself a few weeks ago. No deliveries for the foreseeable future. It's pretty bad when you chew yourself out. :shadedshu:

I'm considering buying a 7900 XTX, the sapphire nitro higher end one is on sale for $1029 locally. could sell my 6800 xt and ps5 to help cover the cost of it. I honestly will never use my PS5, its just collecting dust. lol

@freeagent you know you want to. *eats popcorn*

I prefer downfiring models myself. Cools the whole socket area while it cools the CPU.
