Yes they are also the market leader if you don't like it don't sell their products ala EVGA NVidia doesn't owe these companies anything. Not that any of the other major tech companies are all that ethical.

Someone taking a job has nothing to do with EVGA not being able to make money on GPUs. Again EVGA chose to stop selling GPUS they also found AMD not very appealing obviously.

Now if Nvidia straight up stopped supplying gpu's to evga I might feel a bit different about it.

I think that is the problem here people have some sort of blind notion that any of these companies owe anything to anyone they don't they just want our money the end.
This is a relativist view. EVGA offered products and services a level of quality above competitors, this has a cost and Nvidia made it unsustainable, it is even irrational to defend Nvidia's destructive posture. Unless they're paying for it.

Those who lose most in this story are consumers. No other partner or Nvidia will deliver the quality that EVGA prized. Again, not all companies are machines that trample everyone around in favor of increasing profit as much as possible.

If your job disappears at your current place of work, you go elsewhere, right? Maybe not the ideal place to switch to when they've just closed your department, but money is money...

No kidding, people are getting absolutely booty blasted by this but this is an excellent career play.

"Oh this traitor I can't believe he's siding with team green" Like you're telling me if your company got shut down by a larger entity and you lost your job, you wouldn't take an offer from said entity which probably pays more and has better benefits? Yeah their business practices are pretty carnivorous but y'all do realize they've consistently been rated as one of the best places to work in the US right? When you're taking a job you need to keep your personal notions in perspective and focus mainly on what the company can do for you because in the end you have to look out for #1 especially with corporate work. Being someone who had to make a similar career move I completely understand why he's doing this and sincerely hope he can bring some of EVGA's culture to Nvidia, god knows they need it right now.

We are all losing right now with the Absurd pricing of RDNA3 and RTX 40 series.... EVGA being gone didn't really make much of a difference.

Exactly, EVGA offered something that no other AIB did, yet Nvidia didn't seem to care, the fact people defend Nvidia for treating their partners like crap shows just how strong the team green mindshare is.
Nvidia being the market leader doesn't give them the excuse to abuse their partners to the point of forcing them out of business.

As a consumer I would have considered an EVGA 40 series card had they not been forced out of the market, because of the support, and the test sample 4090 had the power connector in a much better position than any other card has, if the rest of their cards had that design I would've considered a 4070 or 4070Ti despite those only having 12GB of VRAM. However I don't see the Nvidia premium worth paying for with other brands, so AMD or Intel will be getting my money.

That is the moment that EVGA should rethink if they should stop making graphics since everybody is doing it just fine. Even the face of EVGA is working with them now.
Now EVGA is just a motherboard and psu honestly... now the competition is way bigger since corsair and seasonic got very competitive.

They got a boat full of graphics cards to honor long warranty like mine 3090 that have 5 years still

Jacob did what was better for him, he is right!

EVGA messup when try to play a different game than the owner of the ball lol

It's a real same and I would almost certainly have an evga 4090 right now if it existed. Unfortunately AMDs offering aren't good enough for me to consider I love their cpu's but they have a ways to go before I consider their gpu's again.

Here is hoping people rejecting the current gpu pricing model means better things for the next generation not holding my breath though.

I'm just happy Jacob found a position he enjoys. After EVGA dropped out of the GPU industry he probably felt discouraged.

So we have a Talking Head. Generally speaking this is what Talking Heads do. Smart people just don't trust the man and take him as suspect.

Dumb people.... Well you can't help the Stupid.

And if you actually think I'm kidding... well here you go. Cornell University psychologist David Dunning spent 15 years studying... stupid people. Not making this up.

You may not be able to help them, but they still have cash to spend. And votes to cast :fear:

I really do wish him all the best, even if I am not a fan that he joins the green goblins.

Hard to believe that I would actually comment in here, right? :) My reasoning for this move goes back way farther than just my previous employement as you can see from my post here.

Also, I have known Wizzard and the TPU staff for many, many years and I am very excited to be working with them again. Above all, this is a great opportunity to continue what I am passionate about and given my history it is a perfect role for me. :)

Thanks for the post, I appreciate you taking the time to comment regardless of how ridiculous this thread has become.

Better if Nvidia would stop spending ton's of cash on marketing nonsense, sallary for evangelists and free $1600 cards for twitch monkeys & other type of parasites and just lower prices for normal people, would be more effective.

And Nvidia should stop fooling PC community with GPU names like a street thimbler trickster, people aren't that stupid.
Trying to sell 4060ti as 4070 for $600 and 4070 as 4070ti
