Hi guys, I have a "SAPPHIRE NITRO+ RX 590 8G G5 SE" that after a few minutes of game session, even with different games, I have black screen and only audio. tried latest and old AMD Adrenalin Edition drivers, but still the same problem.I had read that the problem could be the Power Control Limit, and increase it from 50% to 100%, using the App "Polaris Bios Editor 3". Ok flashed the card, but I didn't back up the original bios :(:banghead:, when I restart the card is no longer recognized by the AMD drivers, and in the device manager, the card name appears with the warning triangle. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers without success.
I tried to download different RX 590 sapphire bios files from the download page 590 bios of the site, but still without any results.
I don't understand why the card gives me all these problems. I ask if anyone here has the same card and can post me his original bios file to with TRIXX or GPU-Z to try as a last try.

IMG_20230419_093359.jpg

Oh I forgot... before modifying the bios, I disassembled and changed the thermal paste on the GPU and RAM with a silver paste for better dissipation, but it didn't reach 68°C but crash anyway.

I hope for a solution from some of you, sorry for my bad english. Thanksss.

Flashing the BIOS of the video card in an attempt to fix something or gain performance is a bad idea. This generally causes more harm than good as you probably know now. You possibly have bricked your card.

We need to have your full system specs to attempt to help you. VGA Bios Collection: Sapphire RX 590 8 GB | TechPowerUp <-- This looks to be correct for your card, but we need more information.

Did you buy the card new? Used? Have you had it awhile?

It looks the VRM of the graphics card is busted.

If you put the fans on 100% it will likely take more time before the graphics card crashes.

hi @VuurVOS..there is a way to solve the problem, in fact at the video crash the fans start at 100%. but my doubt remains on the bios, the one posted by @kiddagoat I already tried it, I need a user bios with the same card, before assuming a VRM hardware problem.

The provided bios of @Imperator and @kiddagoat is correct and validated by a Techpowerup staff member.

Your card is fitted with a bios switch. Switch it to the silent mode which should stress your VRM less.

Thanks @VuurVOS ..it already tried days ago... it seems to keep more in the game session, but shortly after the same crash and same problem, however the card remains lame and handicapped without a valid solution.:wtf:

@VuurVOS do you think that the VRM voltage regulators can be these in the picture, because the paste mat is quite worn, and I left it like this, without touching it when I changed the thermal paste on gpu and ram.

Where?
That's a good way to fry these cards, GPU might be able to use the extra power but the components at the back will pop after a while due to overcurrent.

Underclock the memory to 1750.00 MHz and the core to 1250 on Adrenalin. If it works fine then the chips are fried and ready to be served with some fish.
If this was used for mining then it's very likely the VRAM is busted.

And one more thing : In the picture you provided we can see that the thermal pad that covers those vrm's was replaced and does not cover all of them.
That is a sign that the card was tampered.
If you really insist in reviving this card, then go for it.
But you will spend a lot of precious time and in the end i think you will come to our conclusion : let it go...

Thanks to all of you for the replies in the thread, I will disassemble the card again and try to fix the dissipation on the VRMs, which I haven't done, the thermal pad is original I think, but it got burned, half on the components and half on the cooling, as PSU I have a Corsair GS 700, I don't think it's that one, already tested with other video cards with higher consumption.
I'll do all this before giving up, if you don't know of other solutions. The power limited has always been used to overclock cards via afterburner, always used without any problems over time, on dozens and dozens of cards I've had in the past, for example I have a GTX 470 still in the drawer, squeezed and squeezed in past and still goes like a train. I have a XFX RX6800XT that has been running in OC with the best game titles of now for more than a year without any problems. I am convinced that whoever had the card before me, who squeezed it, or then I tested hasn't been deep fried to the wrong OCs, I think that the card from the beginning had a very low ASIC Quality, with problems or bugs from the beginning.

I also didn't understand why the custom bios via "Polaris Bios Editor" doesn't work on this card, anything you change with the PBE app is saved and rewritten in the card, the card is no longer recognized by the AMD drivers when you windows restart. :wtf: :shadedshu:

Hello.
I modded a lot of Polaris BIOS-es.
And from my experience i could confirm that in some cases the settings i chosed for the card ended up in a non functional card.
So i had to start over and over until i obtain my desired results.
So yeah, PBE would sometimes end up in a wall.

If the VRM is not already busted, the VRM is currently not properly cooled. Make sure that thermal pads are covering the VRM's.

I am convinced that whoever had the card before me, who squeezed it, or then I tested hasn't been deep fried to the wrong OCs, I think that the card from the beginning had a very low ASIC Quality, with problems or bugs from the beginning.
I dont think your problem is ASIC Quality related. If your GPU is low ASIC quality then you should see some artifacts and not a freeze. If the memory is busted you would likely see a checkerboard pattern.

As @caroline! said before, lower your gpu and memory clock. Likely the card will be more stable since the VRM is getting less hot. Dying VRM's are very sensitive to heat.

VRAM, graphics memory, not VRM. But yeah overworked VRMs can also cause these failures.

I mined with 4x 590s back in the day and they work perfectly now. Never went over 70C though, undervolted + new fans + MX4 paste + new pads for mem and VRMs. I was one of the few miners who cared about the cards instead of going ooga booga overclocking to get 4-5 MH/s more. They had a quick ROI despite everything, had them from before the scalper craze started.

Thermal pad also replaced on the VRMs, the dissipation of the card is excellent in fact it does not overheat, in default clock 1560mhz and mem 2100mhz the card unfortunately continues to have the video crash with no video signal during games after a few minutes. :shadedshu:.

Ohh.yeah...Fixed and partially recovered with the Underclock recommended by @caroline!, with these adrenaline settings.

Downclocker590_1.png

GPU Clock 1443mhz & Mem 2050mhz in rock solid 2 hours of game session "Uncharted 4 A Thief's End" >settings All- High..stable with highs and lows between 45-55 fps.:);)

Now the problem is another, how do I write the bios with these default settings via PBE, if when I restart the modified bios the AMD drivers no longer recognize the installed card..
I get the warning triangle on the card rx590 name in device manager.:wtf:

You can try to flash a RX 580 bios on your card since a RX 590 is a beter binned RX 580:

Keep the default BIOS and tinker with the clocks using Adrenalin. Don't increase the power limits, instead, undervolt. The default 1.15V these cards run at is super high.

For the modded bins to work you have to patch the drivers, but it's not recommended for 24/7 usage as it may become unstable.

I would test it with another power supply first before flashing any modded bios.

Try another Power Supply.

I would test it with another power supply first before flashing any modded bios.

 yes to try, the simplest thing is to install card on another system...

You can try to flash a RX 580 bios on your card since a RX 590 is a beter binned RX 580:

Ohhh yes.. I'll try these too, so I have nothing to lose with this card...:D:cool:

Keep the default BIOS and tinker with the clocks using Adrenalin. Don't increase the power limits, instead, undervolt. The default 1.15V these cards run at is super high.

For the modded bins to work you have to patch the drivers, but it's not recommended for 24/7 usage as it may become unstable.
Alex wants to make this tested clocks permanent. There are Sapphire RX 580 cards which have more or less the gpu/mem clocks he has tested in Adrenalin.
Those RX 580 (Special/Limited Edition) bioses which I have provided are original from Sapphire without any modding.

I flashed and tested the recommended BIOS..after 1 hour of playing with "Uncharted 4" all set Hight...the fps also seem more stable and continuous with less ups and downs, I will test other games and put it under stress..but already so it seems that the card is recovered .. Thank you so much for all your interventions.:):respect:
