This was a project started by Bethesda. Just like they had the idea to turn Wolfenstein into the same type of MP co-op mission based game. MS didn't come to Bethesda and ask them for this. IMO they should of just cancelled it because at this point you guys look at a bad game and say the companies dead now. Phil Spencer has largely saved Xbox games. Don't you guys remember 2013? Don Mattrick almost killed Xbox trying to turn it into TV and always online crap. We just got Hi-Fi rush and Wo Long just recently on game pass. IMO Phil Spencer is one of the most important people in the games industry. I get the criticism of a bad game but to say Phil Spencer should be fired is so wrong. He's gotten Xbox from being horrible to being pretty good. PC game pass is a very positive thing for PC gamers so the overall hate for Xbox is strange. A good game will come out and people will ignore it but then a bad game will come out and EVERYONE makes fun of it. Like I played Anthem and it wasn't THAT bad, it's just a game to me. Don't you guys remember all the shovelware from NES-PS2? One bad game is enough to make gamers rage even though there could be a great game right before it.

You lost me there. But then the reasoning.. its even more bizarre, maybe you dont realize it, but you say this:

Phil Spencer has largely saved Xbox games. Don't you guys remember 2013? Don Mattrick almost killed Xbox trying to turn it into TV and always online crap.

And then you say this:

PC game pass is a very positive thing for PC gamers so the overall hate for Xbox is strange

We hate always online so bless PC gamers for getting an always online service? And bless Phil for saving Xbox?! How is this wired in your head, enlighten me. Game Pass is a nothingburger when it comes to Xbox as a brand and/or any of the games that get produced; Phil Spencer's existence, or whatever PR failure he ever fixed. The man is a marketing tool, and here you are heralding him for ending always online by telling us how nice always online services are.

PC game pass is like a Netflix style service. Do you hate all TV streaming? What I was talking about with Don Mattrick is he wanted all games bought on a disc to require you to be connected to a DRM.

Phil Spencer was a massive part of creating game pass, that's why I like him. Why don't you like gamepass? I've been able to save a ton of money because of it. It's cheaper then going to the rental store back in the day.

It is always online gaming.
You will pay and own nothing, is what I hate about it. Dependancy on subscriptions is a great way to bleed money. I try to minimize that, just as I try not to live with debt.

Wrt TV streaming we actually do have Netflix, but that is also quickly showing its true colors with >10% price increases year over year, soon ad infested subscriptions, and more and more filler content. Game Pass will inevitably end up the same way. You are the product. I fucking hate being dependent on corporate profit maximization. It never has and never will end well.

Thats fine too, but its worth realizing that despite Phil Spencer you are in that always online clusterfuck and saying you love it. Lets see if that sentiment holds.

I was talking about a specific event from 2013 with the DRM for discs. If you got something personal with Phil Spencer for game pass being online, that's not something I have any input on. I'm sorry man.

You realize that no games are actually disc based releases today? ;) Nothing is personal here...

I've been able to boot many switch games without connecting to the interenet first. I know what you mean though.. most disc based games need to download extra data to boot the game. But is that a Phil Spencer problem? Play Station also requires that.

I honestly don't have a problem with DRM unless it slows down a game, I love digital games. I don't really consider it a "clusterfuck". To be able to access my library without inserting discs is kind of nice actually.

I don't think Phil Spencer is that bad honestly and has been overall a positive thing for Xbox. I like to see the good in people when it exists just like I can see the good in you.

There are advantages to digital, absolutely

And I have to give you credit still because you have thought about this stuff well, you have good input. I do apologize if my initial comment was a bit too defensive over Xbox, rereading that. I really am not even that big into Xbox entirely. I just like options. I do love collecting physical media too though, nothing better than those classic manuals. Gaming did have some greater positives in the past in some cases. You're right.

Benchmark Scores Benchmarks in 2024?
"I don't look at the review scores on Redfall..."

"But when I look at the review scores of this game..."

So which one is it?
