5.1 DTS in MSI X570S Torpedo Max

Hi everyone.
The past week i´ve bought a new motherboard, processor and ram. I´m happy on how it works but i´ve an issue with the sound.
In my past motherboard i´ve been using DTS interactive sound in SPDIF, but the new one has realtek usb audio and i´m not able to turn it on.
I´ve tried seval posts from this forum like:

After all of this, i´m facing that i can´t select DTS interactive for the sound, i´m only allowed to use the common ones:

I´ve also tried the drivers from MSI, "CD" ones, but the realtek.hd.sound.driver-patch doesn´t work there.

Just adding more info:

Will be trying but main idea, as i´ve a Logitech Z906 which can decode directly DTS and Dolby, i preffer to use the DTS interactive sound in windows not using 3rd party apps

Also, i´ve installed it but i can´t run the app, by searching in MSI, my motherboard is not allowed to use it:

I am not 100% sure the DTS Interactive APO I have is suitable for USB, its built for HDA (HDAudio), it might work but I have not tested it. The DTS DCH driver is 100% for HDAudio, and will not work on USB.
You can try this package, although you need to manually add to the USB driver you are using (you can ignore the 'dtsapo4xext.inf' step, as you don't need the app).

The DTS Interactive portion of the package might work for USB, I am not sure. Let me know if it does. No license required.

Hi there.
I´ve modified the registry file Multichannel [Interactive].reg with my SPDIF id, added to the registry and restarted but nothing has changed.
Also, i´ve clicked on install and after the install everything is still the same.
I´ll add some pics with the info that i´ve chaged just in case i missed something:

Is there any other option?
I can upload the oem drivers in case the .dll files can be modified.

As i´m not able to setup my sound, i was thinking about buying an external sound card. I´ve been thinking about it for few years but this is the straw that breaks the camel's back.
I was thinking about this one: Creative Sound Blaster Z SE
Will i be able to get DTS sound directly in Windows?
I´ve been checking and some ppl along internet has this combo and the Sound Blaster DTS sound seems to be pretty good, much better than a motherboard.

Yes it comes with Dolby and DTS encoders for SPDIF.

If its anything like my old Creative there should be upmix options, expand or stereo surround.

SPDIF for many reasons, Class-D is one of them. DTS Interactive and Dolby Digital Live are both lossy encoders, I wont get into a debate about which is better.
I will say the bitrate of DTS is just under 2.5x the bitrate of Dolby, with the same encoder a higher bitrate means better audio.

Given the SPDIF-TOSLink is actually rated lossless audio, the loss from encoder still is better than analogue (which is lossy), in almost all cases.

You can read many things about how analogue is good, but its not possible to rate analogue as lossless.


Side note: Dolby - 48k/16b @ 640kbps | DTS - 48k/24b @ 1509kbps | More volume and range, less likely to clip with DTS.

I´ve the ard here and installed, it sounds great but i only see a con: i can select Dolby or DTS but it only works with Dolby or DTS audio things, shuch a movie. Not games, music, etc:

Main issue is that i need to change it manually everytime.
Will search for some "solution"

Curious, a HIFI music app that doesn´t allow me to use Dolby/DTS, before the card in my older board, i got it working.

The PC tidal app doesn’t support 5.1.

the only way I could get 5.1 tidal was to get a free plex account, link my tidal account to a plex account, and then use the Windows Plex Client (not server) which will then play tidal 5.1.
It won’t work through the plex web browser, it has to be the windows client.

That's actually very unusual, in the past when setting up the encoder, you still needed to set the default output device as speakers, and it passed 5.1 from speakers to encoder then to SPDIF.
Speakers > Virtual Capture > Encoder > Redirect to SPDIF. If you don't use speaker as the default, then SPDIF will be 2 channel or encoded movies etc.

I am going to go ahead and guess this is still the same with Creative, but I cant read the screenshot, I need English.
Here is a test: AAC Multichannel Playback Test (fraunhofer.de) | If working you will get all channels.


Edit: You may also need to set speakers to 5.1, but I don't remember.

I´ve checked the plex option and i don´t appreciate a big difference by using DTS and the music profile like this:

I´ve also tried Tidal by disabling DTS sound, selecting exclusive mode and passthough:

I think that i´ll me changing the config each time i listen to music in tidal.

Also, i´ve checked the webpage and 5.1 it´s working correctly.
I´ll also translate the parraf from the sound blaster command:
To enjoy Dolby Digital Live or DTS Connect, ensure that you have done the following setup
Select "Altavoces(Sound Blaster Z SE") as default player in control panel, if posible, do the same for apps and games.
Connect the sound system to ZSE via S/PDIF Out. The output will only be reproducing Dolby Digital Live and DTS connect. Not any other software, such multimedia players or games, could reproduce sound.

So you are trying to get 5.1 from stereo audio? You will need to tick 'DTS Neo-PC' to upmix stereo to 5.1, else I am not sure about Tidal never used it sorry.
If you can get 5.1 from web browsers outputting 5.1, then all games and apps should be doing the same, just no stereo upmix.

That being said, some apps will connect as 6 channels (like web browsers), but populate only the channels in use, such as stereo (L-R).
In these cases an upmixer will detect 6 channels and not do anything at all, resulting in stereo output.
