wait Dark Matter has a tv show? are you sure its based on this book? wtf... i have to do some research now. lmao
SyFy ran it for a short run.
TBQH, I think it was getting too popular for a series lacking the normal 'moral greyness*' that's supposedly popular.
*"Intrigue" my arse!
To me "Intrigue" just means that even the characters you're supposed to identify and empathize with, are *also* scumbags.

I had no idea, thanks for letting me know. Maybe I can find it posted on youtube somewhere.

Not impossible they're unrelated, or just tangentially related. I see no direct-mention of the author you mentioned:
The concept was created by Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie while they were working on the Stargate franchise, and was originally published as a comic book series in 2012.

Even if unrelated to the novel, it is related to the Genre and setting(s) overall.
Also, it had a similar 'community attempt' to bring it back; though, the fans were not successful, as The Expanse was. (Both Dark Matter and The Expanse originally aired on SyFy)

Oh hell yes!
The Expanse is one of my all time favorite SciFi series. I've watched every episode twice and plan to start a third watching soon.
Man I hope Telltale does a good job on this game.
I only watched the series prior to it moving to amazon but I thought it was great. It's was hard at first watching Thomas Jane not as the Terminator....oops I mean the Punisher.

as a lover of the sci-fi genre, I recommend you read Hyperion by Dan Simmons, Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir, and Dark Matter by Blake Crouch.
Dark Matter ended way too soon. 2nd season felt very rushed probably because at that point they knew it was going to be canceled.

just an fyi, i did look up the tv show and it is not like the book I was talking about, I'd still recommend all of you and @64K read Dark Matter by Blake Crouch, its a small novel, stand alone, won't take long to read and some really top notch sci-fi. but yeah its not related to this

the show looks decent, but it is something else entirely.

The extreme low textures and polygons count looks like this game is made for low spec mobile phones...
Is this the final graphic settings??

Here is my two cents. I started watching the show then started the books.

Skip the show and do the books. The story in the books is more sincere and humanized. The characters dont really change, but it does seem that way a few times late in the series. The show story might as well be written by a different crew. Way more politicized in TV. Books are more war like. When they made Bobby Draper get on her knees in the TV show, I about lost it

Oh, since we're on the subject, Crouch's Wayward Pines series is waaay better on tv than the books. M. Night Shamalan did it.

And to get back to The Expanse, I dont remember anythung about the Artemis or Drummer, can some one help me out?

Edit. Ok, I remember now. And the Artemis wasnt in the books or show

The Culture series by Iain M Banks is excellent space opera too. Alastair Reynolds Pushing Ice and the associated books in that universe are also top tier.
Becky Chambers' opera is great, too, while on the very light and airy side.

If everyone on here likes SciFi, I would recommed watching, Babylon 5. Its a mid-late 1990 SciFi show. The 1st to use CGI, ran for 5 season, and 4 movies, with a small spin off but only lasted 13 shows, no thanks to TNT network that wanted to kill it off.

The Expanse is one of my all time favorite SciFi series.

And it would have been even better had the show runners followed the book's story more closely.

Having heard the books (have them in audio format), the story in MUCH BETTER in the books than it is in the TV show, and the show is DAMN GOOD, IMO.

Ofc this is subjective since, just because i like them very much doesn't mean others will too.

imo novels are almost always better than their TV show or movie counterparts. Stephen King novels vs the Hollywood Movies are a glaring example of this.

Maybe, in part, it has something to do with a person using their imagination when reading a novel even when the show ties in with the novel completely which if often doesn't.

First screenshot reminds me of Shattered Horizon
For some reason the wife and I both liked and played Shattered Horizon!...a VR upgrade version might have been cool , but as it was we had fun with it. I still have it in the Steam vault.

They changed "the heart of the story" too much in the show.

I'll give you an example: compare the Michio Pa (SP??) character from the books to the one from the TV show. The only similarity is ... the name of the character ...

It would be great if they could start working on the game again or overhaul/rebuild the game from the ground up. Even if it didnt have a single player, The whole concept of 360' combat in space, being able to clamp yourself down to an asteroid, floating debris and other surfaces was such a wild concept. I dont think games like Star Citizen and Elite Dangerous even had this PvP style of combat.

Thanks. Hyperion and the entire series of novels have been on my "to read" list for a long, long time. I will get to it eventually. I will check into the other two novels you mentioned.

Put it higher on the list. Hyperion is almost as good as Dune, which is the highest praise a book can get.
