I have an i5 11400f and a Nzxt N7 Z590 motherboard with latest bios and 32gb 4000mhz cl 18 ram

In this video it is suggested to raise the Base Frequecy Boost from 65 watts to 125 watts for a higher cb r23 score, I also do that even though I don't have Base Frequecy Boost but raise the tdp, Long Duration Power Limit from 65 to 125 watts

What then happens when I stress test is that I get around 3,900 mhz in aida64 with everything activated, instead of stock 65 watts where it runs around 3,100 mhz and in other tests 4,200 mhz with Long Duration Power Limit of 125 watts.

The problem is that something goes down during the aida64 test after max 2 min, which is the cpu (it doesn't freeze, not even bsod) the test stops and the aida64 turns completely red, back to 65 watts then the test is100% stable but for a lower score than It ca can be in cb r23, which I have just under 10000 in multicore (higher in the video) as it does not boost all the way up to 4,200mhz as the bus speed is not quite 100.

How can I get it to run completely stable with tdp, Long Duration Power Limit of 125 watts?

If your goal is strictly 125 watts, better luck at the silicon lottery. Otherwise lower your expectations.

OP, I don't know about OC non K rocket lake chips, only have experience with K version. But I suggest you get very familiar with the depths of your bios because from the video you linked too, that guy is using an Asrock board & according to your signature, your not. You'll just have to find out if the NZXT board your using has the same cpu options as that Asrock board shown in the bios, keep in mind thought that mobo vendors don't all agree on the same terminology for menu items in bios. So you'll have to navigate around in the NZXT board's bios to find out what they are called - if in fact that board has the same cpu bios options as the NZXT board your using.

I took a look through the digital manual for this motherboard and literally the only mention of the BIOS is in regards to the Clear CMOS button, so good luck!

A N7 Z590 mb as i have, is made by Asrock, retail price back in the day is 280 dollars, i got it for $147 or €134, i think it's a good deal, all it doesn't have is biso flash, but it has a clear cmos on the i/o panel, 10 usb port on the i/o panel, power resett button, wifi 6e and bt + 7 fan headers with easy adjustments with nzxt cam (very easy to use)

tried some undervolt and maybe lower to a more reasonable 80w limit? you should get same performance as 125w at lower power/temp

No it just don't boost as high as it can if tdp, watt limit is to low

No thanks there almost no power difference between an i5 k cpu and my 11400f, i can play mess around with power limit on a 11400f

11400kf is a 65 watt cpiu a 11600k (f) is a 125 wat cpu

And it's overclockable , unlocked multipliers, and you can configure to run max boost speed on all cores, holds better resale value, imo just the better option.;)

It does not have the same options, NZXT afaik is ECS and they've got some pretty peculiar BIOS stuff going on.

I believe W1zz reviewed one, I know for a fact there are some good insights to be found in reviews on NZXT boards. They cán OC, but its... wonky as fk

There can be a diffrence btween what a 125 watt cpu uses and what a cpu of 125 watt you set it to uses of power

PL1 power limit is set to 150 watt, get power limit using stock setting, using fpu, cache, gpu, hardive(s),memory and cpu my temps go crazy in aidia64, no fpu, cache temps are normal

Just leave it all at 65 Watts then, especially if you can't cool your CPU properly...

As I said, if you want more from your CPU, just buy a K CPU and a better cooler then...

I don't understand your obsession with "125 W" and extracting every last bit of your CPU. You bought a low-cost CPU and you're not even taking a low-cost experience home, so what's the deal? Your CPU isn't overclocked, that's just the all-core boost target frequency - and isn't that enough? Like others said: if you want more, you have to buy an unlocked processor. You're never going to have this 11400F running at 4.9 GHz because you don't have enough multiplier leeway to do so. Forget about it.

ps. your AIDA64 version is ancient, update it

what do most people do with a k cpu ?

They oc it to get most out it

What do i do ?

I oc to get most out of it

it's up to 20% more in multicore https://www.techpowerup.com/review/intel-core-i5-11400f/22.html

(i don't have my cpu at 125 watt and i do also enable xmp to get more power over stock speed which in my case is 2133 or 2666mhz)

You don't do it because you can't, this processor is not overclockable, all you're doing is running around changing settings and getting placebo. If anything, its automatic settings are going to beat anything that you could possibly do by forcing manual clocks across all cores. Again, because you think raising wattage would suddenly make it a faster CPU? That's not how it works, it's quite the opposite, especially on a locked non-K CPU. Lowest the wattage and heat, the more headroom it will have to perform better. You're heading in the wrong direction and wondering why you can't extract more out of it, truly a head scratcher that one.

stock it won't boost as high as it can because of the power limit

Stock it doesn't get to 4.0 ghz on all threads, max is 8 or 9 threads, optimized it goes to 4.2 ghz on all 12 threads when it needs to,because it's not limit by the power limit

stock it won't boost as high
Edit: It will, but because it's just in a blink and one core, so you might not notice it.

Otherwise the CPU is thermal throttling and you need a better cooler.

This thread is a great example of someone who knows just enough about overclocking to think they know what they're doing.
