Asus has proved multiple times that they can do awesome things with Intel and Nvidia parts, but they don't give a crap about quality on AMD (does ROG Strix 5700 XT ring a bell, anyone?).

yeah, but how does your quality control mess up getting the x button stuck on the RoG Ally, your new steam deck "killer" at $700... i mean how did quality control miss that? did they not game at all on it during the prototyping phase... wild. im glad the new zen 4 chip is doing well in it, but damn ASUS is wild.

see here if you want the video on it.

Remember the backwards SMD cap on the Z690 Hero? I also remember my brand-new-never-opened wrecking ball edition 3070 Ti......

Yeah..................whatever issues Asus has, it's company-wide.

Funny enough, I've been looking at a laptop/tablet/iPad to replace my XPS 9370, and have been searching for 6800U/6850U laptops with that sweet 680M iGPU. 680M and 780M equipped laptops are so rare in Canada, one of the only viable options I can see right now is the Zenbook S 13 with the 6800U. Looks super sharp and well-reviewed, and I was thoroughly salivating after reading the reviews.........but then I remembered that it's an Asus product, and went right back to my search:roll:

that bent pin likely wont even have any negative effects at all - but it certainly looks easy to straighten it back up

@Klemc seems like you need to be more careful around your motherboards. First the bent pins on your B650 board and now this one too. Not to slight you in any way, just a reminder.

Iknew there was one, that's why i checked.

On the AMD side, i misstyped my adresse then when i read it's 4 instead 5 for street number and postal code was missing on their DHL ticket, i send them mail, so they told "affirmative, we took note", then i go to my account and see my adresse is always not fixed BUT, when i edit the account the correct infos appear, so i mail them to be sure they don't send my RMA for failing shipping in the end, it took 5 days to fix my adresses :p

All this story is bent

but did they refuse any warranty because of that disclaimer? or is this just internet drama. I think ASUS is completely wrong on this, they should have released a final working version of the drivers with no disclaimers, not beta stuff. That said doesn't beta stuff usually comes with disclaimers like this, use as is.

my disclaimer: i haven't bought anything asus since 2017, by choice. So i have no skin in this game.

Steve himself received second hand, dead on arrival boards under warranty from them before this even came out.

The problem is these "fixed" BIOS do NOT fix the issue - they reduce the overvolting slightly and nothing else.
1.30v for every other board out there is now 1.35v instead of 1.40v (still spiking to 1.40 at times, instead of 1.45v)

The other boards EXPO/auto to 1.20v, while this board goes to those balls to the walls values - AMD's enforced 1.30v max is not being followed by asus

They proved if you adjust the voltage in the AMD overclocking section of the BIOS and not the ASUS tuning section, it actually does what it's supposed to - the overvolting is intentional.

it was a beta, it didn't work, it isn't something unexpected.
The issue is them not releasing a final working version in my opinion. The issue is not them releasing a beta with problems, that is normal.

It was an AGESA update from AMD that worked for every other brand
When the voltage control works in the AMD section of the BIOS, that proves the voltage control works.

Asus have intentionally chosen the higher SoC voltage, even after the scandal.
They have an offset/scaler so that when DRAM speeds go up, SoC goes up with it
Their chosen voltage over-rides AMD's limit, user settings, and lies about the actual voltage.

None of that is an accident, none of that worked any different on any previous BIOS either, BETA or not - it's like they defaulted to one lower LLC setting and nothing else.

So if you have an Asus board and you use the AMD overclocking section, then everything is ok?

Interesting..

So if you have an Asus board and you use the AMD overclocking section, then everything is ok?

Interesting..
At least enough that it was accurate at stock, not that that other settings cant over-ride it later

So if you had optimised defaults loaded and set 1.20v in those settings, you got 1.20v and not a higher voltage like you did setting 1.20v in the asus AI tweaker

They didn't test or specify anything about doing that with EXPO or higher DRAM speeds, because ASUS could have a trigger that raises those voltages - since the test board *MELTED* with 400W to the socket, not many people have been willing to find out what the exact conditions are, with hardware probes to measure real voltages.

And extremely relevant - no one knows which asus boards are affected here. The Crosshair definitely is, but no one knows about lesser boards yet.

One big deal was that ASUS EXPO was not in fact working like EXPO or XMP on any other board, on the crosshair - it did not load settings from the RAM, but in fact loaded ASUS overclocking presets like their overclocking presets on previous boards - SoC voltage isn't from the RAM/EXPO, it's chosen *by the boards BIOS* - Asus chose 1.35v (now 1.30v) when everyone else chose 1.20v, and then they have something else going on the crosshair that makes the chosen voltage go higher than it's reporting

What we don't know is how asus EXPO behaves on other boards, or if they have the same problem with SoC voltage accuracy - is ASUS EXPO boosting the LLC for vSoC?

It was an AGESA update from AMD that worked for every other brand
When the voltage control works in the AMD section of the BIOS, that proves the voltage control works.

Asus have intentionally chosen the higher SoC voltage, even after the scandal.
They have an offset/scaler so that when DRAM speeds go up, SoC goes up with it
Their chosen voltage over-rides AMD's limit, user settings, and lies about the actual voltage.

None of that is an accident, none of that worked any different on any previous BIOS either, BETA or not - it's like they defaulted to one lower LLC setting and nothing else.

idk if it's that simple. What would ASUS gain by keep altering the values higher? Doubling down on destroying more of their own mobos, with or no warranty and get more reddit posts with pics of dead mobos? There must be something more to it.

Probably just pure dumb people doing dumb things, they couldn't get it right.

I have the Asrock DeskMini X300 with R5-4650G Pro (yes) it's 45-65w 95°c on his page : LINK.

To have fun and make my DeskMini live longer, do upgrade this CPU to 5650/5700G Pro has only advantages ?..

And is GE better than G in my case N.. DeskMini !

7800X3D RMA is back, replaced, DHL ringed at house without advert !!

Now i wait AGESA 1.09.x out to flashback... since Asus even more recently changed 1414 to beta ... i don't feel the BIOSes are real ! https://www.igorslab.de/en/statt-ag...ibt-es-jetzt-agesa1-0-0-7a-mit-3-aenderungen/

//

Should i backflash without CPU/RAM or i can plug all my stuff without problem : CPU/RAM/SSD/NVMe... and use backflash anyway ???

They wanted a private chat, where they could make bribes or threats to them

Nothing else explains their refusal to speak on camera
I reiterate... ASUS, you f***ing scumbags.

I am pleased with my decision not to buy into AM5. The performance boost would have been nice, but not the headaches.

Thing is there is no real reason to do so, there wasn't for me really having a 3900X but the other system was on a intel 3770 so.

Main issue i have found with the AM5 platform is rebar were it seems to make problems with some games then having to disable it.

I have a new found respect for JayzTwoCents.

Only board to ever die on me kind of was a P67 MSI board, and it was just 1 RAM slot.
This kind of negligence is insane.

Just got my 7800X3D and Gigabyte B650 Elite AX set up this past weekend.

It hits 5000mhz on all cores at 1.2v (latest BIOS applied). Had to manually time the RAM to get it to 6000 mhz- I didn't get the EXPO supported RAM.

Thus far I'm happy. Hearts of Iron 4 and Warhammer 3 are blazing fast.
