Gigabyte Z690 AORUS Master

The ARCEUS MASTER Z690 has failed to live up to expectations and is a degradation of the standard in place under that name. What Gigabyte Engineering was thinking is not clear to me. They killed the gaming support on which AREUS relies already with the lack of another slot with SLI or CF support. and then they demolished the good audio support, which was at the highest level, Now only the lower class products are supported so poorly. Now we can place this product among the just under € 200 offer and it is a severe disappointment for the name it bears.

It's not just this model, mobos in general have been losing features for years. Dual BIOS, debug leds, on-board buttons are increasingly harder to find features. I'm looking to replace my current board. Lo and behold, none of the current boards offer the same features anymore

Degbug leds, power button and qcode is all on this motherbroard. Even voltage points. Besides dual BIOS what else are you looking for?

Im disappointed that there is no dual bios or fast usb charging. This z690 master does seem to be a downgrade compared with my old z390 master.

A decent price/mainstream motherboard.
This is for ultra-enthusiasts, no wonder it has all the bells and whistles. But those bells and whistles used to be far more common.

Why do I read on one site 24 Months warranty, while I could order at another site and get 36 Months?

Isn't it standard 36 Months for Gigabyte boards in general wherever you order?

£450 motherboard and it only has 6 SATA and only three PCI-E slots (of which only one has more than 4 lanes), which is way too low for the price point, should remove some of the m.2 to add some PCI-E slots in place. Connectivity options seem to be suffering on latest gen stuff.

Also the covers I expect make it a bit of a pain to swap or install new m.2 drives in an assembled case? Thats why I prefer PCI-E card mounted M.2s. Glad @ir_cow noted the cramped space for air cooling.

was thinking wow looking at the pics. Also props for mentioning the I/O lane routing has no bios options, the sort of thing good to read in a review, thumbs down to gigabyte for that so if e.g. one wants the 2 SATA ports back, instead of toggling a bios option, the nightmare of removing the m.2 drive has to happen, even worse if its temporary meaning having to reinstall again after. On my bios I can toggle the m.2/sata mode.

I think the Aorus Master is affordable for it's features compared to other motherboards in it's price category.
Also I like the better vrm and the vrm fin arrays cooling, nowadays they just stick an aluminium block on the vrm's.

Wow its only slightly better, still only 3 slots, but just that two of them are CPU routed instead of one.

My sabrent PCI-E NVME card was less than a 1/4 of the price of Hyper although mine is a simple one care for one drive, compared to the multi drive Hyper.

This is better though also with no covers in the way.

8 SATA ports for the Asus Proart Creator, although still only 3 PCIE slots.

But the top of the pile for i/o options seems to be the Asrock Steel Legend, 5 PCIE slots, and 8 SATA ports. ASRock do seem to get it at least even if only on one board.

This board is £240 so how has it outdone a £450 board?

Where in the Aorus Master BIOS do I change the DDR5 voltage?
I want to bump it up from 1.25 to 1.35V with tighter timings.

Ok figured out a way to OC the memory.

What I also liked , the first time I fired up the PC it took some time but it was sensing every fan and adjusting the fan speeds of all fans, no manual adjusting needed. :cool:

@ir_cow what did you do with the noise detection cable?
Can you do something with that in the gigabyte app once you have connected it to the motherboard or something?
Possibly to adjust the fan speeds/noise?
