I see no issues. PC gaming is cheap this days, plenty of RX 6600 on offers for around 200Euros/210USD. 1080p 144Hz IPS/VA monitors are less than 200$. CPU's like Ryzen 5600 or Intel 12300 are about 150$. Games are free each week on Epic, and there are plenty of sites with discounted games and bundles.

While I don't disagree people waiting multiple years for low end hardware to drop in price can build a sweet 1080p build for the money anyone who actually want's to buy newish hardware like a RX 7600 or 4060ti is getting shafted with products not much better than 3 year old hardware.

Cpu remain decently priced due to better competition. Nvidia still doesn't view AMD as anything other than a minor nuisance regardless of whether that is justified and amd is just happy being a slightly better value in the gpu market. RDNA2 being cheap isn't because amd wants it to be cheap it's mostly that nobody would buy it in 2023 otherwise.

The only thing is that 3 year-old hardware was rubbish 10 years ago, but it's still a valid option today.

Very dependent on the use case for you maybe for me not so much.

Although with pricing the way it is I've learned to live with my cpu for longer in the past I'd swap it out every couple years. Thankfully only a couple games I play have issues at 4k with it.

Fair point - I'll correct myself: you struggled to get 60 FPS out of your 3 year-old hardware 10 years ago, but if you're still on 1080p, and/or you don't mind taking your graphics settings back a notch, 3 year-old hardware is a pretty decent option these days. High-end stuff isn't for any gaming in general anymore. It's for high resolution and/or high refresh rate gaming.

Edit: I feel this on my skin, as I needed a top-end HD 7970 for smooth gameplay in every game back in the days, but now, even my 6750 XT is overkill for 95% of the things I do with it. If I knew better not to impulse-buy stuff, I'm pretty sure I'd be happy with a 6600-grade card as well.

6750XT is a great spot to be in for 1080p gaming it's a bit better than the PS5/Series X in raw horsepower and those consoles mostly target 4k with very large resolution scaling windows all the way down to 1080p in some games.

It's a lot more than a great spot! With a 60 FPS limit, GPU usage hovers around 50-75% maximum in most of the games I play. Its fans barely have to turn on at all. I'd say this is pretty overkill.

I couldn't do 60fps it feels too sluggish but it's always nice to be able to cap a gpu and save some power at 4k120 my 4090 sits at 50-70% in most games that don't have RT it's pretty nice playing diablo 4 and the fans don't even come on.

Problem is some or most game "performance enthusiasts" don't want console level performance... we've been spending way more to overcome skimped graphics and have travelled far and wide to adopt higher resolution panels to get the best visually stunning quality available. I still count my blessings not having upgraded to 4K from 1440p.... probably the best decision i've made! At 1440p on ULTRA settings in a couple of games i play (or will play in the long run), the 6600 won't cut it (not even close). But it is a good budget card for the right setting (subjective)

Don't play on ultra, play on high, use FSR, use Freesync and it runs games in 1440p just fine. But if you did your homework or asked a friend that know his's stuff, you don't buy a RX6600 for 1440p. Unless you play Esports or don't mind lowered details. For the rest that want 1440p or 4K, 120 fps locked, ultra details with RT, cool ! get yourselves a RTX 4090 and watch how none of your games play how you want them to, because they are console ports, except again, Esports and older AAA games.

And yes, i'm on 1440p myself since 2013, 10 years in which i sunked thousands of Euros in hardware i didn't really needed if i would have stuck to 1080p. And for me even 32" 1080p monitors are ok for gaming. But hey, what are hobbies for if not to piss off money in
