A mined 2080TI for 2 months,or an old card 1080ti used for constant gaming?

DO NOT FORGET about thickness, and it varies inside the same card, you could end up with a similar or worst problem. That is very important. Don't just put some random ones.

Yup, using wrong thickness can decrease mounting pressure on important components and lead to worse temperatures.

until i buy PADS for my 2080Ti i put back R9 Fury X .C'est la vie.Always i have bad luck,i don't understand why all PADS were missings when i open the card....it's unbelievable

idk. but you should search for your exact model, there are others models on that msi forum page.
That thing is cheap, just buy all the thickness you see on the chart and then it's just size, but that you can cut

the problem is if they are to thin they do nothing, if they are too thick they can stop other places from making contact, that can create all sorts of problems from bad performance to even a dead card. That would be bad on a brand new card, can be worst on a used one.

Yep I wouldn't be too hot on the idea of keeping a card that has been used without cooling contact for the memory and VRM...

That's obviously an assumption, that it's been used, but assuming it arrived like that, what, they removed the pads only before sending it?

Based on the state the card arrived in it hasn't been used for mining for "2 months". If it was me I'd try to get my money back and send the card back to the scumbag that sold it to you.

Looking the current state, those thermal pads were melted. And than the owner decided to disassemble it, remove all pads, he did not have any knowledge how to buy them and replace them, assembled it back again and sold it to first unfortunate guy - @El-Presidente

I would return it and ask my money back if it is ebay.

IMHO, it is identical card like X model, only clocks are lower. X is more factory overclocked.

i think they are the exact same card in terms of desing (trio and x trio), difference only in clocks speed, so you could use the layout i gave you, but maybe someone could confirm definitely

archive in the "lessons learned" section. Anyway this is not the end of the world, get the pads, they are cheap, you have the specs for them, cut, apply, close, enjoy. The card is working, that's the most important. Ask for help if you need to

Bare in mind this card was used for mining as well you said in your OP? I wouldn't be surprised to see that it will crash in games or die very soon considering the shit the cooler was covered in and the thermal pads were all missing, I'd be taking it back to him personally and throwing it at his head (not literally)
If someone treats a piece of hardware like that of course he is going to lie through his teeth to you about how well it was looked after and how well it plays games etc

Bad condition pads or dried out paste, a piece of broken fan/random scratches sure but completely missing pads is new to me. 'I mean I've heard about a bad batch/certain model of a card that had some missing pads but not all of them..'

Working still at friend's PC for Warzone 2.0 8hrs/day but this 2080Ti is in Criminal state with capital C. Without pads, we can only guess which components will die first - VRAM or VRM.

I also had an ex miner RX 570 after the first mining boom ended and it was in a good condition, I've used it for almost 3 years and then just to be sure I've changed the pads and repasted it then sold it to its new owner on the same forum/site.
Selling a card with no pads like this on the second hand site I'm using, most likely would end that person's business there. 'this is why I only ever buy from reputabe sellers with a history on the site or check in person if possible'

My EVGA GTX 1070 FTW had pretty oily pads but thats normal for card that age, had some scratches too but thats also kind of normal so I didn't care much.
Current 3060 Ti is in a mint condition too, I've already opened it up and found nothing out of place or bad looking. 'had a dried out paste and thats it but the pads are all good'

Well I hope the OP can sort this out cause this is not okay.
