ACreed 1 & 2 are not my cup of tea, Odyssey is worst game of the year(s).

Revelations looks not that good.

Brotherhood is the ACreed game that has all good.

Origins id the one i like the most.

Brotherhood and Revelations were fun imo.

Surprised you didn't like Revelations if you liked Brotherhood, they were similar from what I remember

Anybody playing Diablo 4 here? Care to share your thoughts?

Huge Diablo fan here.

Played the original on my PS1. Unfortunately, didn't own a pc at the time.

Started playing Diablo 2 on my parents Pentium III back in 2001 and still play it to this day although extremely sparingly.

Diablo III wasn't my favourite but played it a fair bit none the less.

Cheers.

I do. If you can actually log in and play, its good fun. Skill tree definitely a throwback to D2. Complexity might also be in a pretty good place, while not scaring off mainstream. Graphically and perf wise its nice.

I play every single ARPG that isnt a huge letdown and I think its easy to conclude D4 is definitely better in Diablo factor than D3. Refunding skills isnt free anymore so build choices have some relevance which imo is good while not limiting the respecs to one per difficulty like in D2. The always online components are hit/miss to me. The game should have an offline mode so you dont do world events with randoms for example. I dont want that, but thats personal. In that sense a game like Path of Exile is clearly miles ahead in design with that, putting the player in control of all those elements.

Im playing a Sorc right now.

i played countless hours spread for almost a year, done all the DLC's and hardly had any crashes. Is that legit or the Empress thing? His cracks are crap.
It's legit. I bought the complete edition on sale a few weeks ago. I've verified files, tweaked a few graphical settings, and some other things I read online, nothing helped so far. I've played a little over 30h so far with about as many crashes.

Origins and Odyssey didn't give me any major problems. A crash once in a blue moon for Odyssey, if I remember correctly. But exceedingly rare.

It felt just like Diablo 2 to to me until I saw someone running by me. The skill tree is massive and the Spells are fun to use. The skill tree is very Diablo but very POE light in terms of feel. It is Diablo in feel though. I expect that after breakfast I will probably do 4 or 5 Quests as each Quest takes about 25-35 minutes to Complete. I am playing as the Druid but I should be able to get a mount now as well after Completing the mission that unlocks the horse market. In terms of performance, I average about 120 FPS @ 4K so it's butter smooth.

Now to the bad. This is the most WOW feeling Diablo I have ever played there are all kinds of micro transactions and so much in the Menu that it can be unnerving. To confirm my feeling I loaded up Grim Dawn and was happy to see just pure unabashed ARPG goodness. Damn that Game is Beautiful at 4K and the performance is stellar too.

In short if you liked Diablo 2 get it and earn all the things they promote you to buy. As you earn enough Gold and get enough from Quests to get everything you need, plus the drops are so random that my 2nd Armor dropped give me a 100 point boost in Armor.

I did get that Diablo feeling last night but I spoke to my Father longer than I expected and fell asleep. Now it is 36 minutes away from Le Mans 24 hrs so I will have a chance once I watch the first 10 laps and then have it in the background.

After I get home from the Watch party for the Champions League final I will be going to get my Horse though.

I concur with this about D4 and how it's been. So far my only small gripes are no time counter to see how long I've put into each character (I really like that kinda stuff), and I wish the always online thing was more of maybe an online check-in kinda thing every hour or so if you're not playing multi-player. If something happens I lose internet for a few minutes then I get kicked out of the game haha. It hasn't happened much, but it's happened twice for me so far.

I stayed up playing very very late last night and totally overslept for the LeMans start this morning haha. I'll have to catch that on replay later on. Good looking race so far, but there was just another huge shunt and I think it's about to go full-course caution unfortunately. (Ricky Taylor just had an accident)

I'll be playing a lot today and using a 2nd screen to watch the rest of the race.

I hear on the counter. Le Mans looks really interesting this year as the Pit stops in Hyper Car have had no real effect on track positions in terms of lapped cars but it is also due to WEC adopting IMSA Safety Car rules.

There are some wickedly evil timed buttons and doors in Tomb raider III and if you didn't close a critical trapdoor, you're in trouble and can't advance. Loading a previous save is the only way, not to mention Stella's superb walkthroughs when really stuck :D
I never get tired of the Core Design originals because they are really challenging at times.
It's very Dark in Aldwych tube station by the way.

Playing Vampire Survivor today and I just never can seem to last longer than 7-10 minutes. I can't even get past the first map, tried several times. I don't know why this game is so loved, or I guess I just suck so bad I need to move on.

Yea I really miss the time counter in D4, it would've been great to know how much time I played it while watching LeMans this year lol. (which was excellent btw)

Nice to see other people still playing old classics. :)

I just finished Homeworld: Emergence (previously known as Cataclysm) not long ago. It wasn't bad, but not as epic as the original. The maps and missions feel a little repetitive at times. It wasn't developed by Relic, which definitely shows. Not bad, though.

I play mainly BAR (Beyond All Reason RTS) and some old classics like UT99, 2004, UT4 (cannot find a newer game that has the same feeling - if someone does let me know) and Carnivores Dinosaur Hunter Reborn.
To the previous poster, I had really enjoyed the original Homeworld.

Hit Level 40 in D4 yesterday. I think I'm pretty happy with the game, having played some more and already triggered enough to min-max the shit out of Sorc.

Pros
- semi open world setup. Right from the get go you can choose to progress Act 1~3 in whichever order you like.
- So. Many. Side quests. Some of them a mini-quest chain. Others simple fetch and deliver. Some mundane, some epic assignments.
- So. Many. Dungeons. Most of them have again some sort of objective, so you're not mindlessly grinding away at the same thing entirely.
- With skill points locked behind Renown, you're forced into some degree of world exploration, and you can approach that differently every playthrough.

Cons
- Effectively the D3 'non consequential' character progression still exists in D4. Yes, respec costs some gold but the price is low, so 'on the fly' build changes are simply just a little less on the fly, but you can respec infinitely, even just removing and adding a single point for a few hundred gold is possible. I still settled on a build, but it does detract from the uniqueness of your character and playthrough. Choices frankly don't matter jack shit and its a shame.
- Heavy mainstream focus which shows in the above con, but also in event design. You can always complete events, unless your char and play is really bad. Mastery is however where you're actually being challenged on that event. Not achieving Mastery? No problem... that chest might still drop you a legendary (like it did for me yesterday).
- Legendaries have become even more ubiquitous than in D3 (! go figure...) because now you can extract the 'Aspect' of a Legendary and just slam it on any rare, poof Legendary crafted. As a result they don't feel special anymore, the only differentiator will be the Item's Power Level.
- Contrary to what others have said in this topic, loot DOES drop like candy, I was swimming in yellows ever since level 25 and found 8 legendaries over 6 hours of play.
- It is clear, as I already concluded based on screenshots in this thread, that the old 'infinite scaling' D3 mechanic is back and determines most of your itemization. You'll be chasing 0.5% for the rest of your career. Again: big meh. Because it also means you'll barely ever get surprised by a major power bump to your build. Everything is gradual, again detracting from the feel 'of special stuff happening'. Once you've settled on a build, most of the novelty is gone after the first 30 minutes of play. Another effect of this design choice is that attacks don't feel punchy, you're chipping away health or you're practically one hitting screens. Another issue added on top is that since Legendaries already drop long before level cap, you can get 'end game ish' gear customization going way before end game, detracting from the uniqueness of end game versus level progression. The whole affair will feel samey; my play with Sorc was already reminiscent of endgame Torments in D3. You hit your rotation all the time, it doesn't matter much whatever is on screen.

So yeah. D4? 7/10 and mostly as expected/predicted. That expectation is the only reason I'm not heavily disappointed. D4 plays it safe, combining D2 and even more so: Path of Exile atmosphere with D3 mechanics, heavily catered to mainstream/casual. And to be fair, the casual play might actually be the best way to play the game altogether, as you'll uncover 95% of the game's surprises there and not in its endgame. World exploration is a new element for Diablo and I think they nailed it, but it can't carry the game, and no, its still not as well designed as Grim Dawn.

Back playing FH4 with a new/old wired xbox360 controller. Took a few hours total over numerous days to regain any ability to go down the road whatsoever. Tempted to go directly to something like a Thrustmaster FH5 Edition just to see how much more this game is designed for a controller. As is I had to step down from Pro to Highly Skilled or lower difficulty. My face is constantly torn between glee and terror going full sideways at speed thinking it was finally safe to use full throttle.

I forgot to use Steam screenshots instead of in game photo.

Very nice summary of the overall changes and paths available in the game. I rate it higher than that, but that's a mostly meaningless thing since in the end....we both like the game, the number doesn't mean anything haha.

At first I didn't realize you could just respec so easily, but I played around with it just to try the different build combinations I could for a little while. I still end up with my original sorcerer build though, but it's nice that it can let me check out things super easily......although I wish it were significantly more expensive to do so.

Avorion. Its a game that you design your own ships and conquer galaxy. Kind of minecraft - star citizen mix. My gt1030 barely plays it sometimes 12 fps. Buts its enough for me. I played counter strike at 10 fps and still be #2 in server.

Respec is like a common/standard thing in ARPGs/looter shooters tho.
If it had no option for that or if it was very expensive then the devs would get quite a backlash for that nowadays. D2 also added the reset tokens to the game a long time ago, sure you had to farm some for the materials but you were farming those places by default anyway. 'just some bosses'

I actually prefer it this way, never liked the idea of not being able to try different builds or just quickly fix what I've messed up.

And its exactly what I've been telling you since I've played the beta, that its more complex than D3 but not sure about GD.:)
I've also finally finished the main story yesterday at lvl 53 and started doing end game activities today.
First thing was to unlock T3 difficulty right away so that I have access to better items, still using my leveling build on my Sorc but I'm planning to switch to a full Arc Lash build once I have the required gear/stats for it else it doesn't work well. This one: https://maxroll.gg/d4/build-guides/arc-lash-sorcerer-guide
Also to finish off whatever I've missed cause yea I still need some renown to max out the area rewards.

Btw there is this interactive map thats very useful:

Collecting those Lilith statues gonna be fun.. I will just leave those for the last.

Can you give me a couple of game examples that do this well other than Grim Dawn? I remember in 2004/2005 a "Purple/Epic" item in WoW felt really fucking amazing to get one, I mean hell 40 man raids were a challenge then. Now it's like nothing is special feeling anymore for any game.
