gigabyte due to some political issue, has been widely "banned" in mainland china, 90% of users / kol / media in china would keep discrediting gigabyte just to be politically right in china.
so, saying gigabyte is not bad in china is actually risky.

Anyway i think the biggest issue for Rossman was the bad RMA, he is a big fighter agains that sort of abuse from companies, not exactly that they break or not. Something that anyone that deals with Gigabyte should be painfully aware by now, and isn't really news. They are like this since, forever i guess. It mostly affect the Americans that have no consumer protections, and have to deal with them.

i think what he meant is after experiencing external force during shipping, the cards installed in cases are likely to be broken no matter what brand it is.
brands other than gigabyte might not have as much pcb cracked as gigabyte cards do, but they are probably still broken and have large soldering joints broken resulting in no boot/artifiacts etc

if it was in Europe you'd never go complain to Gigabyte, you'd go directly to the vendor, the OEM builder, the shop that sold it.
Like i said this is mostly an American thing, i see this all the time in the Giga subreddit. Americans complain about Giga RMA, and Europeans have nothing to say, they just go the store and they solve it, 30 days or money back.

I think Australia is the same as in europe, not sure about South America.

On warranties and RMAs, theoretically everything has a month with the seller (legal warranty) and then generally the rest of a period with the manufacturer/representative (extended warranty), but when you contact one of them, they try to and pass the hot potato to the other side. Also, it's quite frequent to get RMA requests denied due to "misuse".

so if the manufacturer doesn't offer any warranty, it could legally be just on month? that is harsh.

I have to agree Chinese technician. Graphic card regardless of brand if subjected to shock, it will weaken & eventually crack the PCB, but i can only see this happening in prebuilt situation where the card is in a PC case. This why when I move my PC, it's a very gentle touchdown.

As for swapping changing cards I tend to put my PC on it's side & after putting in card & securing the card at the PC bracket, then I will tilt it back to it's normal upright position.

In a court of law I think gigabyte will win, because gigabyte will say it was never shipped in that condition. You have to take photos how the card was received & later when card stopped working. One party then have to prove that area was built weaker than normal, but I think gigbyte has all the numbers though pre-rigorous testing.

I do believe the more traces you have near that area, the weaker it is, & there's a lot of copper traces in that area. I'm very surprise technician have the time to grind away at PCB layers trying to repair it,

With my case as big as it is I lay it on it's side when transporting so the gpu isnt able to be jolted in anyway. It is attached using 2 pcie backplates and the mobo is in true alignment with the case.
