My biggest gripe - The game is ugly.

but most elements are functional and enjoyable

So, guys what about the sound tracks? No mention of that. I really enjoy a good original sound track especially the ones from D2!

D1 Town - Historic. First dungeon pretty cool too.

D2 - Bloody Awesome.

D3 - Let Down

I liked the audio and music throughout the campaign, but once I was done with the campaign I disabled all in game music so I can stream in my favorite tunes and get my loot/xp grind on. I will enable it once I face the the true end boss level. Though nothing really stood out as epic like D1 town.

Too mediocre to care about. It has some throwback elements to D2 soundtrack but no, its not it, they just threw some familiar sounds together.

Solution: make D2 playlist, disable D4 music, go :D

Yeah, damn shame. Was looking forward to a more positive answer :(

I agree man, D2 soundtrack takes me back every time. Its awesome. Its a real shame, these days its very rare to have that iconic soundtrack. Last fantasy ish game I really liked a music piece from was DA Inquisition. That title track is straight up cold shivers time

Really enjoying D4 so far I can't really recommend it to solo players though it is substantially more fun in a group of friends progression is also way faster in a group. Haven't been able to put as much time into it as I would have liked since launch due to life but still managed to get to 75 and finish all the renown rewards.

If you are not racing with others then solo is fine, it was the same in D3 probably even worse with tons of main stat you could hoard from 1000s of paragon levels which you could level much faster in a group. 'at least this is not the case in D4 since we all have the same capped lvl 100/paragon points so eventually solo players will reach the same potential'
I actually like playing these games solo nowadays so eh, doesn't bother me at all if I'm progressing slower than the group players. 'D2 was my last ARPG where I was actively playing with friends'

I've also had less time to play the game than I wanted to + had other crap to deal with but my Sorc/build is starting to slowly work and maybe in a few days I can do the Tier 4 capstone dungeon.:)

D3 never bothered me when I had to play solo D4 heavily penalizes solo players in the XP department it's something they should look into fixing also dungeons a huge portion of the late game content is way more enjoyable in a group unless the people you play with suck lol. The tier 4 capstone isn't very difficult I did it at level 60 my build wasn't very optimized at all at that point the boss is mildly challenging if you suck at movement.

I got to level 37 in Diablo Immortal recently, but I uninstalled it. I just had felt like I could look away from the screen and button mash and I'd still win every fight including bosses, it was that way the entire game, just not worth my time, I enjoyed the atmosphere for what it was though, for being free I don't regret the few hours I did put into it.

I won't be downloading it again though. One thing I like about D4 open beta is that I actually had the space bar to doge/roll and maneuver myself around a better for harder fights/line of sight attacks.

Not sure what I will play tonight. I think I am going to start up Dishonored 2 finally, I keep putting it off.

I always forget Immortal exist till someone brings it up. Not sure how it compares to D4 challenge wise but most of D4 difficulty is tied into the late game nightmare dungeons and trying to do them 10 to 20 levels above yours. Even in Tier 4 the world bosses are comically easy and need to be made harder.

yeah, I am not a huge fan of that kind of design. it's basically just dicking around with the terminology of the 3 classical difficulty levels and wasting peoples time

Doubt that they will ever change that part with the group benefits, Blizz doesn't exactly favor solo players unless it wasn't intended. 'Solo used to be better at some point in the very early days of D3 but they quickly turned that around'
While I don't mind playing games every now and then with some friends I don't require it and I can have fun just as well if not better when I play solo. 'yeah I'm weird like that:oops:'

Yeah I'm around lvl 60 and T3 is pretty easy now with my Arc Lash build now that its 'coming online' with the needed aspects and gear rolls. 'heavily depends on att speed/cooldown and crit rate rolls'

Saw the Steam sale a few days ago and thought about picking up a couple. Are they all rather gory or is the newest one heavier on that than others?

Was laying in bed wondering if I could complete a perfect barrel roll or backflip in FH4 and land it. Turns out the answer is a resounding yes even going backwards during Winter with a Lambo. Unexpected twist to say the least.

While watching Phil's latest video;
Saw a game I'd never seen before. It looked really cool so I decided to check it out.
Less than $1 on sale right now so I threw it in with another game I've been eyeing. More on that one later.

I don't see many people commenting about this so maybe no one cares but the price of this game is outrageous in my opinion. $100+ for the basic game! Steep. I won't be going there until it's $60 if it ever gets there. I guess I will have moved on to something else by then.

I don't see many people commenting about this so maybe no one cares but the price of this game is outrageous in my opinion. $100+ for the basic game! Steep. I won't be going there until it's $60 if it ever gets there. I guess I will have moved on to something else by then.

It's 69 usd here the ultimate edition just comes with the battlepass and 20 tier skips and some useless cosmetics not worth and extra 30 the big draw was playing 4 days early and now that that isn't a thing people should be grabbing the base game and only spending the extra 10 for the battle pass if they really like it.

I have recently finished Invisible War, the red-headed stepchild of the venerable Deus Ex family -- and a direct sequel to my favorite game of all time. I actually completed it for the first time ever, exactly 20 years after it was released! I still own a physical copy of the game, but in all these years I had only done the tutorial mission. Now, kudos to a community patch, I could experience Invisible War in glorious 4K with numerous technical improvements and more detailed graphics. With two mutually exclusive texture packs, I took it upon myself to manually review about 5,000 textures to get the best of both. The results can be seen below. The left screen shows the original release in maximum detail (1200p + MSAA 8x), and the right one is 4K + MSAA 8x with increased FOV and higher res textures:

From a technological perspective, the game fares rather poorly today. It was developed for the original Xbox, and the console's hardware limitations are evident in the overall design, graphics and simplistic mechanics -- a far cry from the technical marvel that was the first Deus Ex.

The environments are mostly small and cramped, and the feeling of claustrophobia isn't helped by the narrow FOV. The levels are interspersed with loading screens. As every mission is hub based and involves plenty of travelling, you'll be seeing these a lot. Graphically, many areas look barren, and the textures are of low quality for the most part. To make matters worse, the interface and controls were created with the console in mind, and the game is a chore to play with a K+M.

Upon release Invisible War boasted advanced physics and AI, but both are poorly implemented. Every movable object has physical attributes, such as mass and maximum velocity, but you'll be sending heavy metal crates flying across the room just by bumping into them. The NPCs will often act in illogical and unpredictable ways, like turning on you for no apparent reason, or detecting your presence without a line of sight. As a result, they will regularly screw up a pacifist run, your allegiance, or even the whole mission, affecting the game's ending.

It was actually the main reason why it took me a long while to get into this game. I just couldn't figure out the enemy AI. And playing it on the highest difficulty level with a non-lethal/stealth approach didn't make it any easier, either. But eventually I did manage a completionist playthrough with a choice of four endings.

Speaking of, the writing isn't as good as in the the first installment, and the protagonist is somewhat bland. But the story, involving some key characters from the previous game, ties in very nicely in the final chapters.

Gameplay-wise, Invisible War still is an immersive sim that gives you a lot of freedom. The choices that you make are even more morally ambiguous, and the game doesn't try to guide you towards the "proper" ending. You can follow your own agenda throughout, and even switch allegiances multiple times. Overall, the game is good -- even very good at times -- and definitely worthy of its progenitor's name. It's just that it's a simplified, "consolized" experience that doesn't have the depth, complexity and intricate RPG mechanics of the masterpiece that is the original Deus Ex.
