My Core i5-7300HQ has problems, but I don't know which.

Hi, i'd like some help and advice.

Simply put, whenever I play a game it starts hitching or stuttering and it's impossible to play smoothly, but I have high fps. I've been using throttlestop for some time now, but I just left it on some recommended settings. I have no idea what's causing the problem, but I have an idea it might be the temperature. I have a cooler, but it doesn't do the job well. Perhaps there might be something to it in the software?

Use ThrottleStop 9.6 and turn on the Log File option. Play a game for at least 15 minutes. When finished testing, exit ThrottleStop so it can finalize your log file. Attach a log file to your next post.

When was the last time you opened your laptop and blown out the dust? Laptops need regular maintenance.

Done all that. Here is the log file. I played some game for around 15 minutes

I opened up my laptop around a week ago and cleaned it off some dust. I also use it on a cooler but I might take a look again and make sure.

I generally think this is because of the 30-35 C weather where I live, in the colder months I have no problem playing and everything runs smoothly. What do you think?

The problem is the GPU. It uses a very low temperature limit. The GPU MHz are reduced significantly to keep the GPU from exceeding 73C. The longer you play, the more the GPU throttles. I guess you need some new hobbies when it is 30C to 35C outside.

I thought it was the cpu that was the problem. Anything that can be done? I'm thinking about using vsync or frame rate limiting, undervolting the gpu, only just to reduce the load on it.

If not, then no problem, gotta make my room a freezer then lol

Yup thats the problem with mobiles today, too thin with no ample cooling for the cpu, chipset, gpu. They aren't laptops anymore but notebooks. Users would need a Dell XPS Gen 1 chassis just to keep stuff cool.

That might work. Less voltage creates less heat. You need to keep the GPU a hair under 73C. If your laptop uses a shared heatsink for the CPU and GPU, consider slowing the CPU down so it produces less heat. Disable turbo might be useful. Less peak performance without severe GPU throttling would be nice.

I use msi afterburner, got no idea how to keep the gpu under 73C. I'm trying to use a curve, but the game just crashes when it hits 73-74 C by using the curve. Not sure how to copy it aswell.
