Cool. What I overpaid for the 4070, I will save by not buying AMD-sponsored games. Since they're getting paid by them, clearly they don't need my money.

I have over a thousand games in my Steam library. Probably a good time to play some of them.
Well good thing you dont have to pay for the game and you can play for free on gamepass.

This has been happening for years from both sides, it really doesn't mean to much and not really that big of a deal.
People are just mad because this is AMD and not Nvidia, if it was Nvidia doing this there wouldn't be this much of a reaction.

If? In the anti-amd wccftech article the list of DLSS games that lack FSR was 5x larger...
All the Sony AMD sponsored games also have DLSS, which suggest AMD either doesn't prevent DLSS or Sony is big enough to get exempted.

Let me be clear, I am for freedom of choice in software and hardware. There is an argument to be made for only offering the software that runs on everything, but there is also an argument for the best software for your hardware. The engine supports both, both should be included but when dev time is limited the easiest to implement is going to be added.

Why?????

Why would the do this when 70% of PC players are on NVIDIA and Intel systems. You are cutting more than half the market share from your player base by telling them unless they buy AMD their game will run bad. I am starting to get very tired of these exclusive bullshit releases.

Edit: This also means no DLSS or RTX for starfield. One of the aspects of this game I was most excited for was RTX and the visuals. But since I have a card made by a company with green letters I am not allowed to experience the game at "maximum overdrive super ultra mega resolution 9000 plus + Max" graphics.

I don't think that's gonna happen. I've never seen an AMD sponsored game that ran poorly on nvidia hardware. The reverse however is a different story.

Man, I hope they are just doing PR speak mentionng only the latest gen hardware but in reality optimizing for older AMD CPUs and GPUs since the X-Box Series have Zen2 CPU cores (Ryzen 3000 series) and RDNA2 GPU cores (Radeon 6000 series).

It's your fault for buying Nvidia. AMD controls the console market. It only makes sense that AMD can command Microsoft and Sony to make big titles like this run better on AMD hardware because the experience is already tailored for consoles running AMD SoCs. Only the sheeple are buying into the RTX marketing hype from Nvidia, while they continue to balloon and pivot into AI. They don't really care about gamers, but they do care about RECORD PROFITS!

RTX isn't a purely Nvidia concept, RTX is just the technology. They can still implement it into the game, which I suspect they will still do.
RTX is purely NVIDIA nonsense.

It's whatever. FSR 2.x still works on Nvidia GPUs. This won't hurt me much at the high end.

My guess is that a modder will add DLSS 2 and DLSS 3 to the game.

What I wonder about is whether or not this game will be a mess on release and how long it will take the modding community to fix it. Remains to be seen but still.......it's Bethesda we are talking about here.

I'll stomach DLSS on the highest quality preset if I can't meet 60 fps at 4K, but I will never use FSR if it can be helped
Don't do that, if a 3090 can't do 60fps there is no reason to give the publisher any money for it.

I'm in the "let's try the game first and the comment on the performance later" bandwagon. I don't have console, but my experience with Forza Horizon 5 on my PC is just amazing. Sure the game runs (marginally) better on Radeon cards, but it's already running great on my card so I believe the technical side of things should be good.

True. It’s cool that FSR2 is platform agnostic but it’s actually horrendous. Literally EVERY other upscaling tech is better. DLSS, XeSS, AND MetalFX, look wayyyy better. My rage when games lack other options besides FSR is over 9000.
it bad below 4K but at 4K it's on par. It's main problem is texture shimmering and translucent objects. I agree it's rubbish at 1080p though, but one would be on some pretty weak hardware to need to upscale to 1080p. One would also hope FSR3 would be ready and maybe it can bring some improvements

Oh boy if you keep this logic consistent with NV and Intel sponsored games you ll be missing out on 90% of triple A games

There goes the chances of it having smooth DLSS & DLAA

Well you can blame nVidia for that, anyways it be a shit show anyways.

Their still banging on about Skyrim, like OMG just going on and on about some thing that got right ( for the most part ) and never since.

Great. Now when it launches with issues, people will blame AMD instead of looking at Bethesda's long history of launching games in a bug filled state.

You are aware that Nvidia developed an open-source solution for the dev time problem which allows developers to deploy all upscaling technologies at once and AMD was the one company which refused to cooperate, right? Intel wrote a XeSS plug-in for Streamline but AMD didn't chip in with FSR.

If dev time remains an issue that's AMD's fault alone. They're doing this intentionally, to reduce the amount of DLSS and XeSS games available as devs will have to spend time implementing both.

All AMD needs to do is come out and confirm or deny it to dispell the rumors. Let's wait and see shall we.

If indeed this is happening (AMD clause to block DLSS in contracts where they can get away with it), I wonder what people will say then? Will it still be OK because nvidia whataboutism, or will people stand by their moral code and decry AMD for it too.

As for me, I follow the evidence, and when more is presented I'm happy to alter my conclusion and act on the best information available at the time, and right now, that evidence paints an anti consumer picture of AMD.

Great...so now we're starting to see titles like this and Jedi Survivor where the game doesn't have DLSS in it when that's what the vast majority of people are using. Just one more thing to create division in the gaming arena now.
You new.

It's like Nvidia didn't invent proprietary shit, you know like physx to create division.

This is like getting pitched a baseball in the face then screaming at the ball for an hour.

So AMD making an 'NV' move and play a bit dirty to get the better cards with this game- good for them. Less for consumers.
Locking out tech options at this level is bad for the community.
Above all, I guess that what this game will be remembers for- constraining user options.
Also, this will bring a wonderful community motivation to make an DLSS3 system to run circles around an all AMD system.
So much fun ahead, just can`t wait..

They have been inquired and dodged the question:

To clarify, there are community sites that track the implementation of upscaling technologies, and these sites indicate that there are a number of games that support only DLSS currently (for example, see link).
AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution is an open-source technology that supports a variety of GPU architectures, including consoles and competitive solutions, and we believe an open approach that is broadly supported on multiple hardware platforms is the best approach that benefits developers and gamers. AMD is committed to doing what is best for game developers and gamers, and we give developers the flexibility to implement FSR into whichever games they choose.

Yes I'm well up to speed on the whole debarkle, and that answer is far from the one I was looking for, as you say, they dodged the question. Marketing fluff answers like that, to direct questions, don't really do it for me. It feels strange to say it, but Nvidias answer was way better, and in this instance, more consumer friendly.

By making this "exclusive" AMD title, Bethesda probably forbids to make DLSS to this game. And AMD probably contributed $ to the game development so it`s more than just " told them". Thay technically pay for FSR only title.

Why are we persistently talking about upscaling and assuming fake frames?

Native images are the most beautiful.
Because modern games have either absurd requirements or are very badly optimised and the vast majority of players won't be able to play them otherwise?
"we're committed to doing what is best for game developers and gamers" is likely the answer you are looking for
AMD knows it best.™ Honestly, the best players can do is simply voting with their wallets.

I bet AMD payed them only to make the post and add AMD logo. I dont believe Bethesda can optimize something for someone.
