Your expectations must have been really low then. I remember posting a few months ago that based on the paper specs it might barely match the original 2080 and most people were like man it better be a lot faster than that.

Stock for stock it's only 18% faster than the 3060 while having 4 gigs less RAM and an inferior memory bus

I mean heck it's only 27% faster than a 2070 from 2018...... (That's embarrassing)

Overall 1080p test suite was stock vs stock 81.3 FPS (3060) vs 96FPS (4060) which is 18%. The summary of the review noted 20% but that was because this Asus model is 2% faster than stock

At the end of the day consumers should at a min expect a current generation card to clearly beat the previous generation card one tier above it so the 3060ti and honestly even that should be a low expectation.

Clearly this card can't even clear that low bar.

My expectations were based on NVIDIA's slides, adjusted to falling short of the promised performance with the 4060 Ti. 4060's performance is exactly as they claimed.

I expected better power efficiency though, on par with 4060 Ti or very close to.

It’s actually significantly worse than the 4060ti when it comes to efficiency.

Native rendering it’s equivalent to a 7600 with about 20-30w less at 1080p for $30-40+ more.

Looks deserving of a best of a bad scenario case award; 7600 and 4060 should cost significantly less for what you’re getting.

How interesting, seems nobody cared about this game until it was removed. It's also highly unreliable in the scores it produces, the variation between benchmark runs is pretty high.

I'm a big total war fan so that's why I'm out of the woodwork. Didn't know it's an unreliable benchmark. It's definitely very hard to run- Warhammer 2 ran much better.

There's some randomness that's hard to avoid, and that gets amplified the longer you run the test scene. Testing for 10 seconds on an empty map will sure avoid that, but that's not what I consider proper testing. Also such short testing will boost cards that run higher clocks as they warm up and after a minute of gaming you're losing significant performance due to down-clocking

I don't know why dual bios was omitted from 4060TI DUAL? It's in the 4070 and now in the 4060.

I'm aware that I'm in the minority here, but I do actually value the wattage of this GPU. The price per performance is a completely different story though but at least unlike with the RX 7600 and putting aside VRAM capacity, you can't deny the impressive technological advance compared to the previous gen.

It's not impressive though. The actual price comparison, right now, is between the 3060 Ti and the 4060 non-Ti.

You get 10-18% more performance with a 3060 Ti, at the cost of 18% less efficiency. The 'technological gains' are minimal considering the move from a bad samsung 8nm node to a cutting-edge 4nm TSMC node.

Neither of the low-mid range GPU's from either Nvidia or AMD have been compelling, mostly because of the prices. The 4060 should be a ~$250 card. The 7600 should be a ~$225 card. They bring little to the table at their current price points over the previous generation.

It still seems like the golden age of 200 ish gpu is dead the RX 470/480 and GTX 1060 where all such amazing cards for the money in their day now we get cards that barely look better than previous gen ones.

Also how the hell are cards still stuck on 8GB 7 years later smh...... The amount of stagnation in the low end when it comes to vram over the last 3/4 decade is mind blowing.

Nvidia is trying really hard on this one though saying if a German/UK gamer spends 20 hours a week using it for the next 4 years they will save up to 130 on electricity vs the 3060.

Just think, if you buy 2 you will save twice as much on energy over time! The more you buy, the more you save!

Bump up the VRAM of RTX 3060 Ti will be better for re-release than the new RTX 4060.
Locally here in SG RTX 3060/3070 can be brought, just hope it stays that way.

imo the 4060 is the successor to the 3050. If Nvidia had released this 4060 as a 4050 and set the MSRP at $250 like they should have done to begin with then we could praise this GPU. Instead we see that Nvidia chose the 4060 name so that they could set the MSRP at $50 higher than it should be.

If Nvidia gets away with it in future sales numbers then we can expect the same crap with the 5060 when it arrives.

Amazing 1080p targetted cards going for $300 still. Same as it was in 2019. Gone nowhere.

Pretty certain all consumer GPU sales are toilet currently.

Nvidia will only notice if / when the LLM card orders dry up.

I look at that stagnation from that perspective: never before (GPU wise) it was that easy to skip a generation.
Both NV and AMD making our choice very easy to keep the money to ourself.
Much like the dead 5 years or so with Intel 4th to 9th gens. A very easy skip (and I actually waited more, going from 2nd to 13th gen..)
So unless your GPU drop dead, just skip it. The environment will thank you someday...

All these new entry level cards are waste of sand. No one cares about the features in this tier. No one would buy a x60 card to run CP77 with RT on.
The only thing that matters in this tier is the price. And it’s ridiculous for any 4060, 7600 etc.
I mean …take off all these RT, DLSS, AV1 etc., make it 175£, rename it as GTX4060 and call it a day.

If you wanna game and you’re in a budget, there’s nothing better than a used 6800 (plus minus a model).
