And I support it even now. They will sell for $10,000 if they have customers and $500 if they don't. Am I to understand that your country is occupied by North Korea and the rules of the market economy have been banned?

lol not again!

who is "they"... the market or Nvidia? Please don't say 'the market'. Save yourself the awkwardness, i'm sure you've reflected over our previous discussions and came to your senses.

Can you contradict me? With dates. Of course, there are such combinations and I'm sure there are others, with Celeron from 2012 or Pentium from 2015.

A colossal leap would be the transition from 10100 (under $100 in 2020) to an 11400F in 2023 (about the same price as 5500). And the 5500 does not seem to surpass a 7700K if it cannot surpass a 12100 in gaming. 11400F is definitely better performing.
The idea is different: from 2017 to 2023 I used a 7700K speed processor and the other one used a 1200 with Pentium speed during the same period and only in 2023 it equals 7700K. What business did I do with the motherboard?
They tell me about recycling as if an Intel cannot be recycled. It can even be very good because all old processors have an included igp with excellent hardware enc/dec support.

You change and lose your focus with each post, moving goalposts. The original argument brought up by you is that AM4 platform upgradability is not useful and I showed how useful it is and how I employed it. And now you argue CPU speeds and make a wrong assumption there that you can confirm in TPU reviews. That is fine, enjoy your randomness.

Not! I just said it's a myth. Using a motherboard from 2017 with a processor from 2020 is neither 7 years nor any solution if you want the full potential of that processor.
Let's be clear that the possible release of a 5600 X3D in 2023 does not mean 7 years. The 5000 series was released in 2020 and this is only a VERY LONG delayed release. The performance of the processor is from the year 2020. So is the 5500. For this reason, it is seriously beaten on all fronts by a 12400F that is now being sold, new!, for well under $200.

And I also said that you can do the same thing with Intel. You had 10100 in 2020 (I give an example), now you can upgrade to 11700K for just over 200 euros or under 200 euros SH. You had 8100 in 2018, you can upgrade to 9900K for ~$200. And you can keep a motherboard for 5-7 years.

So, myth busted! In the case of the B350, even just PCIe 2.0 on the secondary NVME slot sounds painful.

clock speed doesnt seem to harm the 3D chips much, considering how bad the 5800x3D smashes the 5800x which can boost 600MHz higher (4.45 vs 5.05)
I can't confirm that I can even get 5.0 GHz with my Ryzen 7 5800X. :( I guess I will have to try, with PBO, or CTR, and prepare to get an access-violation error, with the luck I have been having!

Only $50 cheaper than 5800X3D with two more cores and 100 MHz faster clock, and $110 more than 5600x, can't see this selling, at least not to people with a working brain.

Needed to be $199 at most.

Preferably $169, $50 upcharge over 5600X, seems reasonable as it doesn't have halo status.

Well, I'll admit, I didn't buy it for one second.

The "only at Microcenter and on a tiny limited run" kinda confirms that there is no work except the absolute bare minimum from AMD here, but I'm surprised they're doing it at all.
Still, if they can turn their junk into a usable product...I got no complaints.

That's USA, but what about the rest of the world, I wonder? I can imagine more use for such a CPU in less affluent areas.

If it could reliably do 2000fclk 1:1 or higher I would be interested :D

I personally don't need a crazy CPU. But they are nice to have when you do have one :D

System builders probably turned this part down. It has no advantage from 1.) performance per watt, 2.) performance per dollar, and 3.) total cost of ownership. The latter would include electricity consumption and a possibly more expensive cooling solution (and PSU).

Dumping a weak part on one retailer in one market is a well known practice that is not unique to the PC hardware industry. This is not the first time nor will it be the last.

Microcenter will likely bundle this part with other items to obfuscate the poor value. A good way to draw down inventory of AM4 motherboards.

Honestly I think my 5600X is a great CPU lol.

It sucks in R23, but for a daily system with some light games its pretty decent..

$230 is too high but, that does 'give room' for 'sale pricing' to $200ish. Though, I'm sad to hear it's a (very)limited run; there goes my hope of getting one...
-interesting that this isn't an AMD-promoted SKU at all; MicroCenter seems to be 'the partner' that's launching it.
Product Link:

Regardless, it's almost a reward all on its own seeing which/what conjecture we made in this thread panned out to be correct.

Addendum: am I the only one that senses Steve's attitude has gone really negative in the past couple years?
IMO, He used to have 'a range', and now he sounds cynical/snide all the time.

The store-chain-only-deal, reminds me of what Samsung did with the Odyssey G40B monitors, where the 27-inch versions are Best Buy-exclusive and the rest are 24-inch, IIRC.

Definitely, although I feel that cynicism in the gaming community in general. Rising hardware prices and botched game launches have got the worst out of everyone, I guess.

Still, it would be nice to see people being happy about something other than rich kids being happy about the highest-end Nvidia card being released.

As for me, I was happy for the RX 7600, I'm happy for the R5 5600X3D, and I could see myself being happy for the 4060 as well if it was a bit cheaper and came in a single fan ITX, and/or low profile version.

he could literally upgrade to it
Nothing wrong with not scrapping chips, I mean intel doesnt just throw stuff away, so why should AMD?

Heck I could drop this, 5800X3D, or a 5900/5950 in a rig from a 5800 oem as an upgrade in a sense.

Nothing wrong with not scrapping chips, I mean intel doesnt just throw stuff away, so why should AMD?

Heck I could drop this, 5800X3D, or a 5900/5950 in a rig from a 5800 oem as an upgrade in a sense.

i can't guess what he means, but maybe he upgraded to the 5600 and would have done this path instead if it was already available.
That may be a valid complaint, AMD surely sat on a pile of X3D big brother rejects and could have release this sku earlier. They didn't to sell other cpus first i imagine, managing the product stack

Not everyone has jumped to ddr5.
I didn't mean that DDR4 is dead market-wise. It remains the best budget-friendly PC platform for anyone being cash-restricted. I meant that the 99% of the pc owners globally won't be able to buy that limited-volume CPU, so it is irrelevant as a product to almost all of us.

Depending on how it sells here it may go globally or get it on ebay. I did with a 5800 oem and had it tested right away and its been perfect since 21.

That's USA, but what about the rest of the world, I wonder? I can imagine more use for such a CPU in less affluent areas.
Production/transportation probably won't be worth it for what is Milan-X/Zen 3x3D 8 core rejects into a 6 core mini CPU. If they shipped thousands yea, but clearly, they called Microcenter and said "hey, we got some junk that we can repackage into a product, you want?" "ye".

This is a kind-of-launch rather than the real deal. But hey, if it makes some americans happy, more power to them.

This is the one they should have made to do high fclk/mclk as well as the full 4850 that the 5600X can do :(
