Production/transportation probably won't be worth it for what is Milan-X/Zen 3x3D 8 core rejects into a 6 core mini CPU. If they shipped thousands yea, but clearly, they called Microcenter and said "hey, we got some junk that we can repackage into a product, you want?" "ye".

This is a kind-of-launch rather than the real deal. But hey, if it makes some americans happy, more power to them.

is it officially confirmed being destined to MC only? So only USA? These Americans get all the goodies (or the retro junk). I'm filing a complaint to the "need-more-cache pls police (NMCPP)"

You can probably find a way to disguise it as a keychain when crossing the border but be careful not to bend the pins!

One could buy an AM4 socket, alone (or salvage them off dead boards; someone here literally ripped one off a board).
Use some automotive pin striping to cover the seam and keep the CPU in the socket. (one can accidentally yank/knock out a 'locked in' CPU).

I got one as a 'holder' for lapping AM4 CPUs in years to come. But, I like your idea of making a functional CPU (non-destructively) look like a souvenir/tech-charm.

I got a 5800 oem off ebay in 21, had it tested at microcenter a day after receiving it (damage their equipment, not my own).

I would actually buy more electronics off of ebay but the major issue I am running into is that prices of used and even broken are not much less than something new here. I am really uncertain wtf people are smoking these days on prices of goods they sell.

I cant even get my business off the ground of refurbished gaming and office PC's because getting the parts is nearly impossible due to stupid prices of used.

"some big guy" - as long as the 10% is put to good use and not spent on super-size Mcdonalds or something lol

Actually to think of it, MC is the right place for well-intentioned leftovers - over the years i've noticed nothing beats MC's bundled deals. Only if we had these hardware towering corridor supermarket-type stores here in the UK too - it'd be a blast!

i don't even know why i quickly whizzed through the review... i wouldn't buy it, can't buy it (UK) and for the asking price no thanks.

Not hitting the advertised numbers doesn't sound promising either. Its a good X3D-entry point if discounted MC bundles make a case for it.

Been using my 5600x3d since launch of it recently, here is my quick little review:

If you can get it for $200 even like I did with new customer coupon than it is 100% worth it, I was able to sell my 5600 non-x to a friend for 20 less than what I paid for it, so this was essentially a $120 upgrade for me, very happy with that price to get some x3d cache.

Undervolt of -30 on all cores since day I got it, been 100% stable and runs super cold while maxing its clocks at 4350 all core. I get less than 60 celsius in starcraft 2, god of war, and cinebnech r23 only hit 67 celsius, cooler I am using is the thermaltake FC140 ( @freeagent thanks for recommending this cooler a long time ago) with mx-6 paste. (this chip runs super cold I love it so much) coming from a gtx 1070 laptop where my 8th gen intel cpu would constantly hit 100 celsius and throttle daily, its so nice seeing 50-60 celsius temps under full load.

I had some stuttering issues which is common it seems for x3d chips (@Mussels any comments welcome), but I disabled page file and the stuttering went away and everything is buttery smooth again in God of War, in Starcraft 2 I would get some stutters as well, but I turned on enhanced sync and they went it. 95% of games I have tried needed no adjustments though, they were just buttery smooth from the get go. in the few games I have had issues I was always able to resolve the issue quickly.

overall I give the 5600x3d a 10/10 if you can make it a $120 out of pocket upgrade anyway, for new builders you want to go with AM5 or wait for 8800x3d imo.

edit: just to focus on those temps some more, I am so impressed how cold this chip runs. i really like that over the 5800x3d which runs pretty hot from what i understand.
