I recently purchased a PNY geforce rtx 2060 8gb, to replace my rtx 1030; but I ran into a little bit of a snag! My pc doesn't have the required pcie ports to plug the 8pin cable in! So I'm wondering what I can do to remedy my situation! The only pcie cable port has 5 pins! any help is appreciated!

A 2060 Super? Knowing the rest of the specs would be helpful.

There are two 2060 models,

RTX2060 6GB 160w TDP
RTX2060 Super 8GB 175w TDP

Both call for a minimum 450w power supply, and both likely require a single pci-e 8-pin connector.

With the rest of your specs we can get a better picture of what you need, it's possible your power supply is already sufficient but lacks the appropriate cable, but you may need to procure a new one to safely and adequately power the system. Knowing the full specs also helps us recommend any other upgrades or changes to optimise your setup or alleviate bottlenecks.

You should be able to buy some molex to pci-e adaptors. Can you please let us know how many watts, how old and what brand your power supply is?

I got the 8gb version! No psu, no cables! Bottlenecking really isn't a concern because I don't really wanna go past 1080p lol!

Oh I don't even have the supply lol, I am thinking of getting an EVGA 600w plus standard! I'm mostly concerned for my motherboard not having Sufficient places to plug the Pci-e cables into! I was looking into adapters but I don't know much about computer building!

I know that! I mean those pcie cables that come with 8 little squares, I have no more ports for those on my motherboard
Those go to the PSU, not the motherboard

Are you able to post a good, clear picture of your PC?
Yeah in the morning lmao I'm very sleepy! For now I have these but I can take better ones later! But I'm just wondering where in the heck I can plug in a power supply or anything!

Oh I see! But I mainly wanna know what get plugged into where! Cuz it doesn't look like I have too many ports or areas I can plug a PSU in!
Those go to the PSU, not the motherboard

Ah, you have a prebuilt. That's going to complicate things. You'll have to get adapters if you get a new PSU and you want to continue using that motherboard (standard PSUs have different connectors than the proprietary stuff Dell uses on their motherboards), or source another Dell PSU that has the requisite wattage and connector for your card.

Awesome! I'll look into that! And once I find a Dell psu should it be smooth sailing? Or will I have to get adapters for the adapters so to speak?

I wouldn't be so quick to jump to buying adapters. If your PSU is too weak it can be an issue too.

Edit:
If you get a new standard PSU, you'll need adapters to get it to work with your motherboard.
If you get a new, higher wattage Dell PSU, you might not have to. However, these can be hard to source at a decent price.

I see I see! Well I know I need at least 525 to run the 2060 and I'm thinking 600 would put me in a good place with wiggle room! But what would you recommend? Like by just looking at my board what would you say I do or get?

This is gonna be a lot of trouble, if you get a new PSU, you'll have cables for the GPU but not the mobo since it's a special design
Check your PSU first if there are empty slots and what is the wattage, in the best case you only need to buy the pcie cable

You do have a power supply, becuse you have a computer. Follow the black cables that connects to the motherboard.

That thing is in there good, and there's no extra cables or nothing! Plus, my little machine that could came with a 1030 that just slots in plug and play style, so I doubt the PSU can handle a 2060

If you want a new PSU you have to take it out anyway, so just find it and take a shot of the label.

You will need to get at it anyway if you want to swap it out for a new PSU, so it wouldn't hurt to take a look

I think you'll also have to get a new standard mobo as well with the PSU
