USA retailer, Newegg, is currently running a sale on a couple of custom NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8 GB graphics cards. The cheapest option is an MSI VENTUS 2X BLACK 8G OC model, available for an an-all-time low price of $334 (representing a nice 16% discount)—thanks to a promo code ("ZIPTECH") shaving off a further $45.60 from the sale price of $379.99. NVIDIA set an MSRP of $399.99 upon the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti's launch back in late May, generating plenty of ambivalence within the PC hardware enthusiast community. That pattern will likely repeat with next week's premiere of RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB variants—its recommended retail price is set at $499, with tricked out custom cards predicted to go beyond $550.

Potential buyers of the bog standard 8 GB GPU in the States will be somewhat happy to discover that Newegg is not limiting the sale and discounts to a single model. MSI's slightly fancier (triple fan design) VENTUS 3X 8G OC card is going for $351.99, and the GIGABYTE RTX 4060 Ti EAGLE plus ASUS RTX 4060 Ti DUAL OC are available at the same price. These deals look quite good when placed next to discounted GeForce RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB custom cards—these are getting blown out for $329 - 339.

The fact that these retails are still trying to sell 3060s at near MSRP just blows my mind. Nobody is buying that garbage and nobody is buying the equally garbage 4060, yet the retailers just keep purchasing more and more new stock and magically hoping that somehow they're going to sell the old-generation stuff (which, as previously mentioned, is unwanted garbage) without lowering its prices.

Nothing says "unwanted garbage" like being the second most popular GPU (and first on mobile) on Steam, which currently has an online user base of over 27,000,000 people. (4.6% of only the users online is 1.25M). You can be elitist about buying only the best, but don't think you speak for everyone with your fatter wallet. :p

That's a more reasonable price for a 1080p-ultra card. Here's hoping it sticks for more than a day.

If it's selling so well than why do retailers still have so much stock?

I show you 1.25M verified sales as a minimum figure of product movement as surveyed by a single source and you respond with "if".

I can tell this conversation will go nowhere even if we go through the intricacies of supply and demand, and how volume ordering works in supply side logistics chains...

The steam survey isn't a verified sales figure. They have had and continue to have issues tabulating. Might as well call it the Net Cafe Survey as you can plainly see the most popular system specs in net cafes are the most popular on steam.

Not saying the 3060 is unwanted either, it is very popular. That said, it's current price is terrible given it's a last gen product. The pricing of the 3000 series and even AMD's 6000 series are both too high for last gen products.

The 3060 has been out for nearly 2 and a half years and was the least expensive (but still viable) card from the 30 series. It was also included in basically every prebuilt "gaming" PC that sold for less than $1500.

Also I don't think the guy you were replying to was being an elitist, I think he was pointing out that these retailers and Nvidia itself are greedy shitbags trying to keep covid-era nonsense prices going, overcharging consumers for lackluster products. The 3060 is a $200 card. The 4060 is maybe $250. Nvidia can take these prices and blow them directly out of their asses.

I really would like TechPowerUp's editors to understand the nature of this "ZIPTECH" coupon code, because this is the third article now you've written about this exact same coupon, and in each article you've presented the promotion as special discounts for specific GPUs. That is not the case. This is a store-wide promotion that works for any item in the store as long as your order totals to at least $300, and it's only applicable if you use a special payment plan service (that's a bad idea to use because it goes on your credit report)

You say that the discount isn't unique to this model, and you're more right than you know because it applies to every single other GPU on the store, including those 3060 Tis you used as a point of comparison. The $330 3060 Tis are actually around $290 with this discount, so they're not quite as "blown out" as you say. Please do better.

3060 is a great card, but like he said selling near MSRP in 2023 is absurd and no one should be buying that shit unless they really need to because they have no card at all. Let them all rot.

Ya know that is how it is done here in Silicon Valley. A lot of people way over their heads in debt. :rockout:

Still overpriced, the GPU is miniscule, doesn't require any power meaning very simple board, simple cooling.

Case in point is you have to use a silly code, the company is called ngreedia for a reason.

even AMD's 6000 series
Especially AMD's 6000 series. FTFY.

Don't forget these GPUs don't know how to RT (nVidia's know little to be honest) and how to DLSS, both features combined earning about 15 to 20 percentage fair increase in price. That being said, to be competitive, an RX 6700 XT (which is on par with RTX 3060 Ti in terms of non-RT non-DLSS gaming) has to be about 15 percent cheaper than said 3060 Ti to be competitive, yet they're priced the same in most parts of the globe. AMD's GPU is more expensive sometimes.

Same applies to 3070 Ti/RX 6800; 4070/6800 XT; 4070 Ti/6950 XT and so on. AMD GPUs are even more overpriced.

Speaking of 4060 Ti, low $300 is exceptionally reasonable for such a GPU. This card is now only 10 percent overpriced.

AMD's "bigger VRAM superiority" doesn't make much sense as of yet. Majority of the games unplayable if you only have 8 GB will also be unplayable on a 12 GB RX 6700 XT because it's as slow as 3060 Ti.
Unplayable at 12 GB of a 4070 Ti games will also be unplayable on a 16 GB RX 6950 XT because its GPU itself is too slow for such gaming.
And so forth. Yes, 32 AVG 20 LOW is better than 29 AVG 10 LOW but both are unplayable.

the problem for Nvidia unless they pull out like new "SUPER" cards for the 4060 series cards is that basically everything under the 4070 is garbage. The 4070 is $600. Even then it only has 12gb of VRAM. The 4070 should probably sit in the $350-$400 range right now as its memory is still only 12gb of 192-bit memory. When it should be 16gb of 256-bit memory.

AMD while being peculiar with releasing their top two cards and then a lower tier cards, has a lot of room to make a competitive product that is way better, should they choose to do it. They still have room for a 7700, 7700xt, 7800. and 7800xt. They could even add XTX versions if they wanted to those cards. Plus they left a bit of a gap at the top should they need to fill it in as they could still release a 7950xt and a 7950xtx.

The ball is clearly in AMD's court. Unfortunate for Intel it seems their own struggles and lack of communication with the community on progress is losing them some of the momentum they manage to steal up to this point. It sounds like Battlemage could be delayed or even almost cancelled because of issues. And because Intel isn't speaking up all we have to go by is those rumors. If Intel could release a competitive piece of hardware right now they would be primed to steal market share from Nvidia because Nvidia keeps blundering things up. If only Intel was prepared to take advantage of all those blunders.

Apparently there are some Intel Arc 750 cards you can get for as low as ~$170,......but then,....you've got an Arc card,.....so,....
