If you enjoyed the main differences that Robotech brought in in terms of Music and culture Macross 7 standouts with the Japanese version delivering music that would rival anything on American idol.
I'm not crazy about the music. I like orchestra style of some Japanese animations, to be specific Studio Gibli stuff like my favorite Castle in the sky. Macross was decent in that regard. I just loved the story though - other beings male and female that were designed similar to humans but being the bad guys and that protohumans created all of them including the humans.

I can appreciate that thought process. I tried to get into Robotech but I guess Harlock and Starblazers spoiled me for wanting Action. For really deep stories I look at Ghost in The Shell Stand Alone Complex Season 1 and Legend of Galactic Heroes which also has nice Orchestra music scenes.

Nothing against Anime (or Evangelion), this just seems like odd/bad timing.
I know branding-partnerships 'take awhile to come together' but, I can't help but feel like this is distracting away from on-going consumer-relations problems @ Asus.
