So far I have used Logitech F310 game controllers, but the joystick potentiometers are wearing out and I can't find replacement parts.

Any recommendation on a wired replacement? (best would be replacement parts)

Could try a Xbox elite 2? Pricey but likely to last you a while. And it's designed to be wireless but doesn't stop you from whacking a USB type C into it.

I have been using a Xbox1 clone. I had the Original but that USB C female header is wonky. Then the batteries made it feel uncomfortable. I got something like the one below but for less money

If you want the cheapest option just buy another F310. Replacement sticks probably won't be much cheaper than buying a new F310 for $15. Most other controllers are less reliable than the Logitech ones anyways. I have a Dual Action (it has to be atleast 15 years old) that's just now starting to have issues.

Totally agreed. Most reliable and best for my hands PC gaming controllers.

Most useful information; much, much appreciated. So just the F310, but now I feel like I did my homework (thanks to you guys)

From recent purchases thread,

I have now owned two Logitech F310 out of convenience and lack of commitment to gaming. They worked and in time I was dragged down by how badly they worked.

For the princely sum of US $1 a gently used wired xbox 360 brought immediate and worthwhile improvement across the board. With exception of the stupid assymetric joystick layout. A whirlwind pass through majority of my games went exceptionally well.

Night and day difference in enjoyment. Much finer control paired with feel of higher quality parts. Directional pad are notoriously flaky if you are ham handed with them. 10' cord with breakaway section is something you might never appreciate unless it gets used. No batteries to charge and no wireless connection issues.

I prefer the layout of F310, but have adapted. Haven't tried any of the clones which might improve upon the one major drawback above. For $1 it was a worthwhile investment on my part if only for reduction in frustrations F310 was a nagging source of. 15 years service life of a new at retail Logitech today is beyond laughable to me.

The F310 is going to feel very bad compared to even an xbox 360 controller. Completely outdated thumbsticks, doesn't even have triggers, terrible D-Pad, lack of wireless, ect.

I don't buy that it's more reliable either. I used to have problems with The F310 all the time when I used it a long time ago. Joystick drift, buttons not working. It's a low quality controller.

I don't see any reason to get one when you can get 360 controllers for dirt cheap or you can get a slightly better Xbox core controller for a bit more.

I have indeed needed to repair the units we now have.

The main problem this time was a metal shaft in a metal holder that suffered galling; hopefully the new ones will use a plastic shaft.

Using an XBOX X/S pad. Tried others but imo this is the best. The elite pad is just waay too much cost.

Hyperkin are releasing a 360 throwback. Might be worth a gander in the future.

I made the move and ordered two Logitech F310 units for my Son (and his friends when they visit)

I recently bought this and really like it, 8bitduo is known for great quality as well and its only $20, so if you don't like its not end of world. I also do wired only :)

I'm not sure why it has so many bad reviews, i think those are just the wireless variant people complaining, wired has worked fine for me and it fits my hand nicely.

While it shouldn't bother me, the colors are a bit...

never heard of this before, honestly i like this idea. my hands do get hot sometimes when playing console games. needs a dust filter though lol

Ps5 pad, plugged in or not.

I bought one specifically for PC, and have not regretted it.

.
it is really old and sadly logitech doesn't make them anymore. Had it little bit before Resident Evil 4 came out for PC - 2005 or 2006. Damn, I'm young :D. Had xbox version and I loved it. There was PS3 alternative, but damn. That was ugly by the looks for me.

Hopefully a minor review?!

Can do that already, as I already have two
  • First one I got second hand: had to fix the cable and use silicone oil on some switches
  • Second one I got new: the left joystick wore out; the metal shaft wore in its metal carrier (could not locate replacement parts)
So I oiled the joysticks of the remaining good controller to have it last.

Hard to tell how much usage my Son put into them, but the dimples on the thumb covers were worn away.

Hopefully the new ones have a plastic shaft on the joystick mechanism.

I use these on my thumbsticks, it improves my accuracy and overall makes gaming much more enjoyable.

$4.99 shipped and sold by amazon, that is the exact brand i use, other brands don't feel nearly as good to me. 4.99 is for a two pack so you could put them on both new controllers for longevity.

I prefer XB controllers; the offset sticks are a lot more comfortable/ergonomic to me, but to each their own.
You can get one wired, but any of the newer console ones you can just leave a USB-C cable plugged in.

I happened to have an obsolete steelseries 3GC game controller and took the joystick potentiometers from that which were pin compatible with the Logitech F310, but the stalk was shorter. By using the tops from the obsolete controller, things fit nicely in the Logitech F310. The nice thing was that the shafts were plastic.

I still have 2 new F310 units on the way for my Son as I did not expect to succeed with the transplant experiment (which was just for fun).
