I don't know what "most gamers" have (I hate generalisations), but I agree that casuals (like myself) don't need a $500 GPU.Personally I don't think people buying $500 graphics cards are gaming at 60Hz. If they are, then it's a 1440p card at best, and unsuitable for 4K IMO.
If you have a high-refresh display like most gamers do these days, it's only matching the display capabilites in older games and esports. Here's the kicker - if you are only playing older games and esports, you don't need a $500 graphics card.
