upgrading from an ivy bridge and looking for an upgrade that is a solid choice for another 10+ years

cpu usage as following:

pc is on 10-12 hours a day for office work
ocassional gaming with max 75fps in future 1440p

Even an Alder Lake i7 will do that.

I went from i7 6700K @4.5Ghz to i7 12700K 5Ghz all-P-cores, that already was a massive boost for me, gave me even in games a huge boost with the same GPU.

I game at 1440p , have a 165Hz G-Sync monitor.

yes i do know but i'm looking for a low idle power consumption and no to high when gaming
if you come with a suggestion with low idle that is why i wrote the 50% energy savign interests me

Like @P4-630 said, any Alder Lake will be up to the task. That said, if you have waited this long, you probably won't have a problem waiting a bit more for Meteor Lake. Not because of rumored performance increases, but because it's a new platform. On the current platform, you'd get a Raptor Lake refresh later this year and that's it, end of the road. If you wait and buy into Meteor Lake, you'll probably have one or two more generation to pick from, should you want to swap the CPU for something faster at some point.

Well, I wouldn't buy until Raptor refresh is out later this year.

But for gaming you'd need the 13400. For some futureproofing, a step up to 13600k (a few more cores, just in case, and possible overclocking).

a motherboard hovering around 150dollar will do the job (mini itx)?
was thinking also about the 13400, eager to see what the 14400 brings to the table..
Price is the last thing to consider when choosing a motherboard.
First, you need to define the features you want and you need a motherboard with VRM that's not crap.
Me, I go for dual-BIOS or some other means to recover from a failed flash (these days it means less dual-BIOS and more flashing from a USB stick, ymmv). I also value debug codes, having 3 M2 slots and preferably on-board power/reset buttons. You will probably want a decent number of 20Gbps USB port, although you can add some via a PCIe add-on card.
If I can check all those boxes and find something that doesn't break the bank, I'm golden.

I imagine for anything smaller than ATX, you will have to forget about 3 M2 slots. But I wouldn't go with less than 2, it will make transferring data when upgrading your SSD a pain. For proper VRMs you will need reviews and there aren't that many for mini-ITX boards. The rest is really up to you. I know it's valuable to me, Idk if it's worth anything to you.

I have 2 OS drives and I need an empty slot for upgrades. But I imagine 2 slots will be enough for many.

I think its safe to assume that Zen 4 for AM4 isn’t happening and Rialto Bridge is cancelled. Both of these should be removed.

If Nvidia ARM on desktop is being added based on limited information, then Qualcomm ARM on desktop (Snapdragon X Elite) should definitely get added.

Yeah i was just thinking the same thing, it would no longer make any sense for amd to launch a product like that

Oh I'm pretty sure a 7400 on AM4 would sell in droves. But seemingly AMD is happy to just sell 5xxx CPUs instead.
That boat has sailed though, so yeah, we can safely scratch that off the list.

CXL is not "Intel CXL" any longer but is now managed by a consortium of many companies and supported by Epyc CPUs for example. It's also not a competitor to PCIe, it's based on PCIe 5.0 (but allows PCIe 4.0 and lower data rates too).
