Are you crazy guys? It is Bethsoft... you shouldn't touch it after 10th patch of open alpha test.
Yep, I am but only cause' bored with modding former Beth games atm... no one does open world RPGs like these guys.. bugs & all!
People buying the premium edition to play early are only supporting bad business practices. Gamers can complain all they want about the state of the game industry but it's their own actions that have largely fostered them. That starfield is pulling this BS is an instant no buy from me.
I agree in principal. But got the standard game for nothing now only cause of another cpu & board purchase I just did. :)

The only thing to keep in mind, so far, is that the performance tends to be really poor. I disabled FSR and dynamic resolution as I'm playing at 1080p and my system has a certain degree of difficulty keeping the fps in the triple digits, which is astounding given how extreme my specs are for 1080p gaming

SSD Required statement is correct, game stutters a lot even on a 10k RPM VelociRaptor

DLSS and XeSS have already been modded in and mod was already released, it's on the Nexus

Which rig is that? my assumption is 4090 rig, 4k max w/DLSS Q getting ~90-100 fps now?

80-90 at 70% scale there is no preset you enable DLSS and select a % to scale from. It's an interesting mod that technically requires two mods to work it'll crash repeatedly if you install it wrong.

My 3080ti got retired from 4k duties it can no longer perform to my standards in a lot of games I play. Awesome at 1440p but can litterally be half as fast in some scenarios as the 4090.

It's $30 more than the base game (which is also the increased $70 instead of $60)

We know nothing about this included expansion. I don't really see the point in rushing out to buy content the quality and length of which we know nothing about for a game whose quality has yet to be thoroughly tested. Bethesda uses the world "expansion" very liberally. This is the company that brought you horse armor after all. Let's be honest, people are just using that as an excuse to get the game early. Nothing but mental gymnastics to justify what is further degeneracy in the way games are marketed and sold.

The game costed less than an evening out to dinner with my wife I'll live......

Sorry bro but a velociraptor is a Yugo compared to an SSD Tesla. SSD came out 10-15 years ago, the tech is mature and orders of magnitude superior. You should upgrade.

Wow, I was planning on playing on my 4k tv with my 3080, but that’s not looking too good atm. Maybe people will have optimized setting guides by the time standard release comes around.

No questioning that, mechanical HDDs are obsolete for this type of usage, but it's still one of the fastest HDDs around when it comes to seek time (high RPM). This is not an "I need to upgrade" scenario, though, I have 3 NVMe SSDs on my machine and space for another two - look at my specs ;)

If you use the mod and don't mind DLSS performance scaling it should be fine.

Like I said... don't install it on an HDD. The game will freeze and lag sporadically with lots of stuttering that will not occur on an SSD. If you don't have an SSD, buy one before you download it. Seriously.

But yeah, I have a very high end system. Game still seems to demand a lot out of it.

Game runs too well to be GPU limited, plus I've been playing for a few hours non stop and it's barely warm. I've read that the Ryzen 5600X is only good for 40 fps or so. That must be why the game feels so heavy.

It was never about whether you personally could afford it, it was about the principle and the direction such a purchase pushes the industry. There have been countless responses like yours used as justification to defend the purchase of ever increasing predatory monetization tactics by companies and the result is lower quality games, micro-transactions, and now staggered release dates depending on if you bought a premium edition or not. Surely you understand that encouraging these tactics has only lead to an ever increasing slippery slope to the detriment to game quality, something that impacts you regardless of what edition you purchase.

Benchmark Scores I pulled a Qiqi~
It was never about whether you personally could afford it, it was about the principle and the direction such a purchase pushes the industry. There have been countless responses like yours used as justification to defend the purchase of ever increasing predatory monetization tactics by companies and the result is lower quality games, micro-transactions, and now staggered release dates depending on if you bought a premium edition or not. Surely you understand that encouraging these tactics has only lead to an ever increasing slippery slope to the detriment to game quality, something that impacts you regardless of what edition you purchase.

Well it's not like we've got much in the way of morality here. I mean, AMD literally bribed Bethesda for them to use their own tech! lol

Cling to that leaded gas, it lubes those valves! lol!

It's funny but I bought 6 of these drives brand new unused last month, lol. It's more for vanity than anything else, I got plenty of SSDs here ;)

Might try to repair.

I think it’s because of the ARC.

I see that now! Thanks! I swapped my 4090 out because its faster to prototype the flash tool instead of using my test rig. I will try to play with it see if I can get it to start.

Arc A770 spotted. There's your problem. I also tried and found it wouldn't launch.

I am now in the process of assessing "Minimum Viable Starfield" by throwing all kinds of wacky configurations at the game just to see what will launch. Skyrim would run on hardware from 2005, so let's see how far back Starfield will go. I am now infinitely more interested in running the game on hardware it shouldn't run on, than actually playing the game.

First up: i7-5775C and Vega 56.
