Software A lot.
Benchmark Scores Its fast. Enough.
my only question for you would be, none of my friends seem to be crashing in this game, so I think there might be an issue with your system. are you always playing less demanding games like Minecraft on your system? Maybe Starfield is the first very demanding game you have played, so you never properly tested stability. Have you played anything like God of War or Shadow of Tomb Raider benchmark, fps uncapped, ultra settings, and just let it rip? that and 3dmark time spy stress test is how i test my rig to make sure its stable, if it passes all that + 20 more random games I am happy.
GTA5, RDR2, it’s passed at least 24 hours of testing Memory at this speed and timings, the CPU has passed testing (can’t really overclock the 7800X3D) for 24 plus hours, the GPU has passed testing over 24 hours of looped future mark.

Played hours of any other game.

A lot of people with AMD hardware need to disable PBO, and or enable virtualization again???? I haven’t tried everything, but 3 hours of trial and error, stock settings for the GPU and still issues, full fan speed, it’s not temps, it’s not overclocks, it’s not memory issues. They have a glitch somewhere, Reddit and other places are full of people with all hardware that have issues.

They have a glitch somewhere, Reddit and other places are full of people with all hardware that have issues.

The problem is, that for many boards stock settings are really not stock. Default RAM speeds are not really default. The training differs for each OEM at each voltage and temperature. I also had PBO problems and deduced that one of of my crap cores didn't really like UV that much. It took days to figure out some rare BSOD. I can suggest doing console emulators as those are very CPU heavy and deliver random loads. Classic stress test patterns don't trigger boost algos and often don't produce BSOD's. Each case often is very individual.

No wonder places are full of complaints... the quality of things have worsened due to unnecessary haste, but if you don't stomp out raw products, people won't buy them and profits will be lost.

If the gpu is at max usage, then the game aint freaking cpu bottlenecked... jeez some of the ppl on this site...

Is the nvidia driver currently badly optimized for this game ? Yes ! But that does in no way equal a cpu bottleneck...

I don't think it's quite that simple. The game is hitting the CPU pretty hard. Two P-Cores are pegged, with about 70% usage on the other 6, (they're not utilizing HT). Almost all 16 E-Cores are 30-40%. And this is just standing inside your starship. Yeah, GPU is maxed (I'm running at 70% power limit so 330w is max), but there something else going on too.

It can't be fully utilized if it's not pulling the maximum amount of power. Something it's holding it back, drivers, CPU or game code, or all the aforementioned combined.

Yes, the game is hitting the cpu hard aswell, but if your gpu core usage is maxed out, then you aren't cpu bottlenecked... really shouldn't be that hard to understand... -_-

The shaders doing only half the work per cycle. And the scheduler still report 100% load but the truck is only carrying half the load so we need а more detailed breakdown by rops vram and shaders of what is doing what work.

Nope wrong. If the GPU isnt using the full power budget by a good margin and/or visibly clocks down, there is 100% load but only relative to its current clockspeed. In most games though you will then see it boost further to unlock more perf and reach peak power. But if it doesnt, 100% is the actual load at current clocks.!Usually that is fixable through drivers. Another option is 100% load because a part of the pipeline is maxed which is a different way of seeing the same behaviour.

Again, power consumption is a very poor indicator for gpu load - it varies wildly from game to game and according to resolution, despite the gpu being pegged at 100% load.

Power consumption is more or less identical in star wars survivor, and many other games. Again, a very poor indicator for gpu performance.

You can see on all the screenies with 4090s that the gpus aren't downclocking...

So? 100% load still isnt a definitive stat. There is likely to be more in the tank after this game has seen driver/patch TLC.

I turned off FSR2, mix of medium and high settings on everything, letting shaders build so haven't played yet. In-game menu I am seeing 154 fps though.

while I was bored I read the user agreement, and blocked .exe from internet in steam folder, fuck zenimax, twats and their personal info can suck my nuts

also read the section on how I don't own this game, Zenimax owns this game. fucking twat companies can eat shit lol

No it accually isn't
we left fixed fuction gpus in the dust 15 years ago my guy
power is the only metric you should care about because that indicates what part of the gpu is active and since modern gpus are known to schedule load and shift power to where its needed 100% tdp = 100% load
if the gpu is at >90%tdp then thats all it got. you can improved performance by optimising the game but you aren't going to magicly make the gpu go any faster without increasing the power limit

power limit is WAY more then gpu clocks / core voltage

game is most definately GPU limited tho my 5800X is barely hitting 20-30% on two cores with a sum thread usage of about 50%

Will driver optimization improve performance ? Obviously !

But it has nothing to do with power consumption or lack of, nor any alleged cpu bottleneck.

Despite me disliking Daniel Owen quite a bit, his video on the topic shows perfectly what a cpu bottleneck looks like when he pairs a 9600k with a 4090 - gpu core load drops significantly below 100%...

No performance issues on my end, I am getting 160-165 fps the entire time at 1440p mix of medium and high settings. can screenshot if anyone is interested let me know

just got my laser to start drilling in the opening scene. looks great and is very smooth. no issues or stutters at all. it's making my mild oc on the 7900 xt boost to 2900 core at a steady beat too, which is interesting.

i see no reason to turn on fsr2, i will be leaving that junk off for now.

Nothing like Bethesda game to cause drama about the performance lol. Although I feel like the majority of the recent releases have been the same.... Remnant 2/Immortals of Aveum.

CP2077 expansion is the next thing I care about guessing it performs better than this lol....

Nothing like Bethesda game to cause drama about the performance lol. Although I feel like the majority of the recent releases have been the same.... Remnant 2/Immortals of Aveum.

Honestly there isn't anything about the games performance that ought to cause drama - the game runs fine on any reasonable hardware.
