cause if I leave it as is from the factory it will definitely crash when goes too high with the boost clock..

Just RMA the GPU?

a bios editor is unlikely
this bypasses signature/board/vendor/pci checks but the signature still needs to exist or the driver won't load

tampering with certain bios paramiters will absoutely void the rom signature rendering the rom image useless
there is some potental in certain vendor scripts tho ... and or using nvidias mining site to self sign
but not holding my breath for a full on vbios editor

Even if the editing will be done on a HEX level?

That’s the only kind of editing you can do.

But it’s not necessarily impossible. I have a 20, 30, and 40 series that I will be attempting to make a BIOS editor work for. At a minimum I will make a viewer which will show us all the secrets within these BIOS and allow better comparison.

That would be just awesome !

Can't wait for it !!!

This way I will surely fix the problem with overboosting with my GPU.

Too little too late ...

+ I have changed all the thermal pads which I spent 80$ + for, and yeah..
I don't believe manufacturers are legally allowed to deny warranty due to maintenance related self service as long as nothing is physically damaged by the customer during the process (this is a region specific law though). The double edged sword being that those same manufacturers are well known for conjuring false reasons regarding incurred customer damages in order to circumvent that law as a way to deny warranty claims anyways, as they know most consumers are not going to go through the hassle of taking them to small claims court over the matter and would instead be more likely to just take their card to a third party for repair or replace the card entirely.

Unrelated to my above reply; @kefi - I know you have mentioned another release of nvflashk where you'll be implementing a GUI capable of pulling and confirming compatible VBIOS files from TPU's database according to DeviceID with added backup and recovery flash functionality (if applicable / possible without the need for an SPI programmer) in the event that a flash goes south. Out of curiosity when are you expecting to release that update as I know your original target time was before the end of August? I believe it would be a great QoL feature for not only beginner users looking to get into flashing their VBIOS but for advanced users as well and am very much looking forward to it being released if this is still something on the cards for you. Thanks in advance for your work on this project and your reply.

Hi,

I flashed a 3090 Strix OC Bios to my 3090 Founders Edition. This one does not work.... card will not load Bios on startup. Please put this one on the doesn't work list. Well, I was too enthusiastic when I read that somebody flashed a 3070 STRIX BIOS to a 3070 Founders Edition and it was flagged as successful. Not for the 3090.

Don't think any other vBIOS will work on the 3090 FE, just might be too different a card, was going to try an FTW3 bios on mine later but even if it did work it would probably act strange..

Let's wait for the Bios editor then.

I'm really eager to see a bios editor... Imagine if we could also adjust the voltage?

That means a default undervolt profile hard coded to the bios, no need to use for any software afterwards... Oh heavens !

Anyone bought a "fake" RTX4090 yet? :nutkick:
Dude, this isn't going to be an issue unless you are already a moron.

I'm probably missing something here..
No, it's just a poorly put together argument that goes "bios flashing = fake cards."

Just RMA the GPU?
On this same token, no one should consider RMAing anything that's been bios crossflashed. Even if you don't get caught (they do have tools that can tell) it's immoral.

I'm using this tool (and for that matter omgvflash and the original nvflash) and after successfully flashing a bios, the SHA1 never seems to match the file I've flashed. In fact, I can't even seem to flash the card back to stock with the original BIOS either because, again, once I've flashed, the BIOS dump never seems to match what I've flashed.

Can someone tell me how to overcome this and flash a BIOS file such that the checksum comes out correct?

Edit: Palit 3080 for what it's worth.

The -6 still doesn't flash it back fully to stock. The card behaves like it did at stock but the hash of the dump is different, what am I missing?

The -6 tells nvflashk to ignore the bios mismatch while you flash the stock bios back.

Flashing my nvidia RTX card came with problems every time , with some vbios some ports failed to work , with some the driver didnt want to install at all and with the ones that worked i had problems with the fans , i can control each fan separately with my stock vbios with all others the fans seems to be broken , i can control only one fan that doesnt even want to go to full speed and the other fan just sits at 20%-30% of the speed all the time without being able to control it.

It doesn't work, -6 or no. Every time I flash and then dump the flashed ROM it has some random new SHA1. And actually the BIOS that I'm flashing is meant to be compatible with my card anyway, bypasses or no. I can't even get it back to stock though. Is there anything else I could be missing....
