Actually just going by US MSRP the 7800XT is 25% more expensive but offers 37% more performance at 1440p vs the 16GB model it is only 11% more expensive though.

I mean to me the most telling metric is the card actually sold out in the States.... No card since the 7900XTX/4090 has done that. Hats off to AMD for finally releasing a product people seem to want.

Same at Scan UK. They only have the way more expensive Red Devils left. Ebuyer still has a few units of other models, albeit at a slightly higher price.

Well, if you take a look in the comment section of the 4060ti review, people were not just complaining about the VRAM. They were saying that the performance for the price is dogpoop. Hence, the 7800xt is a tiny teenie little bit less dogpoop, but dogpoop none the less.

For me it is the technical specs and not the Vram allocation. A 128 bit bus is BS at that cost per frame. I have never seen a card for that amount of money with such technical specs. That is why even when they increased the VRAM there was only a 3% improvement on performance. That speaks directly to the perfomance of the GPU. Now AMD releases a card that has better raster performance than the 6800XT for $500 but yet it is somehow garbage because of whataboutism? So let's look at the specs. First thing you see is a 256 bit bus. Then there is the clock speed. I already posted a thread showing that there is a $20 difference for the same card series from Gigabyte. There certainly is more than a $20 difference in performance though so when you apply that common sense you realize that you are really complaining to Nvidia for what they have done to GPU pricing as the 7800XT is just fine and will sell well regardless of how you feel.

Fact is, according to every review, the 7800xt is only slightly marginally better in performance per dollar than the 4060ti. The 4060ti is garbage in performance per dollar. Therefore.... draw your own conclusion. Mine just derives from the 2 above facts.

You guy's are just going to go in circles with him and honestly I don't see any issue with someone thinking this card is meh honestly this whole generation has been pretty meh with Nvidia trying to push frame generation and upscaling down our throats and AMD doing what they have done for generations offer similar rasterized performance at a discount with some vram thrown in for good measure neither is doing anything revolutionary or even different from the last couple generations.


Regardless AMD seems to have a hit on it's hand and some dude on a tech forum arguing that if the 4060ti is crap so this is as well has no bearings in the grand scheme of things to be fair that applies to all of us.

There was no chance on efficiency as previous Gen AMD was a little more efficient with their second Gen on a smaller process node while Nvidia was stuck on the crap Samsung "N8" process. Finally getting to a good process node shows that Nvidia's designs are efficient, continuing a trend since at least the Maxwell days. You can get good efficiency out of all AMD cards by running them in a more efficient voltage zone but you can also do the same for Nvidia.

Yeah, this generation has been, incredibly underwhelming, a big nothing burger, only the most expensive gpus had something to care about while the mainstream gpus, I mean shit there's a reason why they took so long to come out for both amd and nvidia. I remember Ampere and RDNA2 were a lot more exciting since the performance uplifts from the previous generations were insane at the time, while this feels like a pascal to turing kind of jump, a big ol' nothing, just plain boring. Oh well, at least my gpu purchase aged well

Had they just moved everything down 1 tier in pricing this generation would have been substantially more exciting. The reality is next generation might be even worse although with how this generation has gone it might be viewed better just by default.

I doubt that, this is AMD's first "Zen" moment with GPU chiplets on the mainstream. Now they could definitely falter in the long run but I'm betting they'll just get better & better at it. You can see where Intel is right now with their approach & they're not even in the 23rd frame of the slow mo 24fps train wreck with their slowing node shrinks & even worse uarch improvements. Nvidia could also be in a similar situation if they don't transition to chiplets relatively soon.

That's my concern too. Multiple chiplets for AI is easier than multiple GCDs for graphics, but it looks like that the rumoured big RDNA4 was an attempt at that.

It seems once they realized it would need to cost 2000 usd for them to be profitable on tsmc latest node they scraped it according to rumors.


I think people forget TSMC is dictating gpu prices as much as Nvidia and AMD are.

If I recall correctly, RDNA4 was expected to use an active interposer like the MI300. If they could use something like EMIB, then costs would be lower. They must have good reasons for skipping LSI: TSMC's equivalent to Intel's EMIB.

I reeeeeeeeally hope that the mess ups from AMD this generation are because it's a transition year, if that's the case, then the future is bright, if this is not the natural result of it being a transition year, I will be extremely worried, but, we saw what amd with did intel, and how interesting the cpu market is now, so all we, or atleast I, can do now is hope, hope that competition spices up and prices go down.

Hah, who am I kidding, nvidia doesn't care for the consumer space anymore, and they won't for as long as enterprise and production workloads are unoptimized for amd, and amd doesn't seem willing to cooperate with companies to make sure products are at least good for amd gpus (though to be fair, this should fall on the developers, not amd, but amd is so underutilized that they have to be the ones to show incentive). Also I mean just optimize for amd, not break for nvidia, that would make things even worse.

Yeah, I'm really interested to see how next gen goes down I'm just less enthusiastic about it than any previous generation. I still find hardware interesting regardless though. I will likely need to replace my 3080ti in my secondary pc either way by then.

As most reviewers already understood this is the successor to the 6700 XT as it's Navi 32 vs Navi 22, very simple, so i don't understand enthusiasts in a tech forum complaining because they don't get it. Comical. Compared to the 6700 XT, which is its real predecessor, just like the 7900 XT is to the 6800 XT, the performance is way better. It's also a better product than the 4070, with more vram and performance for less money. No wonder it's already sold out in the shop i looked at. Depending on which game you look at the performance is easily better than the 6800 XT as well and rivals 4070 Ti even. Dual issue shaders pay off more and more.
