Are you saying you are the only one not having stutters? :D

true, didn't think of that, i was assuming stutters were extremely common based on the swedish guy's post.

perhaps its overblown, like everything else negative about this game.

It is free to use.

You can pay the bounty at a kiosk at any city or station, but I think in your case, you have contraband on you person or ship. Look for any item that has a yellow icon on it and drop it at the last port.

I did the UC missions before I started the main story line mission. I also landed on a few planets and just ran around and looked for pirate bases that I could fight and loot, that is how I got so many credit's.

Pretty sure I only picked up ONE contraband item, as it's obvious because you get a text prompt onscreen indicating the implications of having it. I stashed in on Altair II (which is where I found it), in a container at the Research Camp before getting on my ship. So no, it's not on me, or on the ship.

So far I've tried clearing the UC bounty at the kiosk and via Sergeant Yumi, whom insists on escorting me to the guy on Mars that wants me to work undercover to investigate the Crimson Fleet. This time, while on Mars, before even going to Cydonia to talk to the person I was instructed to meet with to unload some Aurora, I tried first docking at the Deimos Staryard you mentioned.

I can get to the Deimos Staryard fine, with no warning of straying off the undercover quest, but I cannot get an option to hail it or dock at it, even if I untrack the undercover quest. Some have said there's a bit of a bug trying to dock at Staryards, but I wonder if there's some skill I need to do so? One person on Steam forums said "You have to "lock" the lv 50 space station icon with E" (I have no idea what that means). Other info says you need to scan with E, but nothing happens when I tap E.

I CAN however choose upgrades from the service technician at Cydonia, but they are more limited in what you can get and FAR more expensive. :(

That's like saying gaming sites (the kind that pays their writers) are blinded by greed and envy. This is the biggest release in a long time. If they didn't cover this game extensively they wouldn't be doing their jobs.

pcgamer basically calling it a dud was a bit too much for me personally, not professional at all imo. cause well, its not a dud at all. in fact i have half my friends list in game right now and most of them have 40+ hours in it already, and i have a pretty small friends list, this rarely if ever happens. but i guess its a dud anyway according to pcgamer

Arggh, just tried jumping from New Atlantis to Mars to go to that Demos Shipyard you spoke of. I go right back to getting caught in the loop of SysDef refusing to allow me to land due to a small bounty, and instead of just letting me pay it and clear my name, they insist on me working under cover to infiltrate the Crimson Fleet. I don't mind taking on that quest, it's just that I need to upgrade my ship or I get killed in the dog fights that are part of that quest. Is it possible to upgrade the ship somehow BEFORE getting into those fights?

I paid one small bounty at a kiosk, but it wouldn't let me clear the UC bounty. I tried to pay it at the UC Security Checkpoint, but the guard there after first saying I have some fines to pay, insists he has orders to take me elsewhere. WTF is wrong with this game? It sucks you into doing missions you are NOT prepared for!!!
Do that sysdef mission, its so much fun. At the end you get a huge pay day. Its one of the better missions, not long also.

I've said this before, but game reviews cannot be objective. It's impossible, because what people like and dislike is subjective. A truly neutral game review is basically the performance analasys stuff w1z does for some games. A neutral game review would be like reviewing movies or books neutrally. How do you quantify entertainment? A LOT of people love Skyrim and Fallout 4, but I think they are entertaining trash, and I can argue that point. Is that opinion wrong? I don't think so, but plenty of people do, and that is fine, because it is opinion, something that cannot be objective. Something like a processor can be reviewed fairly objectivelly, because the things we care about in processors (performance, power, price, and context) are objective.

I do think Todd Howard is suffering from a bit of hubris. I don't really appreciate his response when it came to performance the other day, and since this is an AMD game he should have took the initiative to push them to help them make it one of the first FSR3 Frame Gen games, and AMD already announced the first ten games to get FSR3 frame gen, and Starfield is not on that list... so yeah that is pretty fucking shitty imo.

Are you talking about the one I was referring to where you investigate the Crimson Fleet undercover? Like I said, I want to and am trying to do that quest, but my stock Frontier keeps getting destroyed in the dog fight at Europa. The problem is I can't upgrade the ship before or during the mission. Before it I get taken by UC to do that quest, and during it I can't dock at the staryard I'm trying to upgrade at.

You can upgrade at any port, so I would jump around and see what the other ports have in upgrades and New Atlantis had allot of upgrade parts. You also do not need star ship engineering to use the advanced editor on your ship and it has even more parts you can change and add.

You also do not need star ship engineering to use the advanced editor on your ship and it has even more parts you can change and add.

So the advanced editor is something beyond just the ship builder? I didn't see any of the Vanguard parts you bought at Cydonia, and the White Dwarf 2000 engine, which I'm sure is less powerful than the 2010 model you bought, was way over twice as much. Yeah a lot of the search responses I got say New Atlantis has a lot of parts, but nothing comes up when I search for places with the cheapest parts. I've gout about 74000 though, so hopefully that will do.

BTW, do you need to hire a crew to be able to use ship parts to repair the hull while in battle?

FWIW, the minimum requirements aren't strictly enforced but it may be that your video card doesn't support some version of DX12? Or just DDU and reinstall current drivers.

I've played Starfield on the below-minimum Core i7-4790 and RX 5600 XT with no problems other than the framerate dipping to the mid 30s in New Atlantis. And some YTers have played on AMD APUs using integrated graphics only. It's almost useless but it's not blocked.

Why does this game feel choppy despite having above 60 fps ? I had this problem with a few games before aswell.

Only feels smooth inside buildings when im above 100 fps. Does anyone else have this problem, is it because of the game engine ? Frametime and framerate graphs are stable lines aswell, when monitored with rtss/msi afterburner.

Game is practically unplayable without DLSS+ FG for me, thanks to the limited FOV I get nauseous with FPS around 60-70FPS, getting 90-100FPS feel much better.

I could have tried FOV mod but why bother...maybe I will come back to it after 6 months

Fov 100 is a must even in reviews since it's just a custom INI file with two lines in it that the engine understands natively, not a mod. But the frame rate will probably suffer

Why does this game feel choppy despite having above 60 fps ? I had this problem with a few games before aswell.

try not using ultra shadows, actually set everything to medium.

No, Just hit the O key to repair the hull, not the zero key.

Yeah, I realized that when I just used the Flight Simulator. In fact I went through it a few times and ended up being able to get tier 2 on the Pilot skill, so I now have more maneuverability with ships. I can't seem to get ships destroyed in Target Mode to upgrade the targeting skill though. It locks on better when I just keep the cursor aimed at the ship, but tapping E doesn't seem to do anything. I HAVE noticed a red circle inside the white reticule circle sometimes though. I've destroyed ships with missiles while they have the double red squares though, so I don't know why the targeting skill says zero ships taken out via missile lock. I had to drop the difficulty to Very Easy to just get through the first 4 of the 5 sim tiers, and only ever managed destroying 2 ships on tier 5.

I'm wondering though if I might be able to get through that Crimson Fleet mission with just a better shield now. I really hate the way they made the flight combat in this game. I mean the ships look OK, and I can see how it would be fun to build and upgrade them, but the way they fly and shoot sucks. The steering especially is way too squirrely. It feels like one of those games that got poor mouse support. And I don't just mean poor mouse support in flight, I also get a lot of times where the mouse look gets stuck looking straight ahead while trying to turn while moving on foot.
