That's exactly what I want to know. Even if it isn't as good as the current VapoChills, if the price is significantly lower, it may still be worth it.

at last, everything had went quiet about these! I want some performance details coz last time it barely faired better than a reasonable TEC setup...

Edit: This is the cooler (obviously with the AM2 bracket mount) that im aiming for with my phenom, the MCW6500. I currently have the older version on my opty 185 (MCW 5002, does -14C idle and +20 Load with 150+W cpu). but look at its thermal load/temperature chart..

under load, even if ur churning out 150W (which is what i am on my opty, you are 10C load, take a 65W cpu, or 95W and your still subzero under load a fair improvement over my current one

With my current cooler - Zalman 9700NT - I cannot do any better than 3444Mhz.

damn right i'll get one if those price are correct, in the uk it will turn out to be around £200 most likely but thats still good as i paid £110 for my second hand waterchill kit a few years back

I thought phase change vanished off the face of the earth after performance was found to be roughly the same as watercooling. + back then phase change units were very expensive & not everybody could afford it

it's about time..... now let's see if they hit the $300-350 price point they've been talking about.

Only problem with this thought is that the phase change units only cool the CPU. I suppose you can use fans to do the rest of your critical cooling, but I think most High-end WC users like the capacity to cool multiple units within the loop.

Still undeniably awesome if it come in at the $299 price tag.

$500 is a much more realistic expectation, especially after the entirely much too long developement time they will be looking to recoup. I'd also be shocked if it was all that much better than high end water, but until real world performance is tested, we'll have to wait and see.

They announced in magazines, websites and the like that they were doing it for $300 USD. I dont expect them to not still try to reach that point simply due to delays. Im hoping they hit the $300 USD mark, because if they do, Ill be getting me one. Then, Ill get me a decent water setup to cool the gpu(s) nb, etc. Should do nicely.

dunno but at 500$ they're getting pretty close to the vapochill lightspeed on the egg for 650$, 300$ would put them significantly cheaper which would be good if they couldn't compete with the lightspeed (which can do a 200 watt load at -33c) my modded classic does a 150w load at -5c so I'm hoping for better than my classic yet worse than the lightspeed to keep prices down.

They promised $300 about 15 months ago when they were still speculating they could even release it. There is no way the initial release will be that low and it will depend on the effectiveness of the unit to see where it lands in the final price. If it can't keep a quad core under 0C then it will not be worth the effort or price to install it anyways.

the quads are the same wattage as my fx, and my vapochill classic keeps that at -5c at 3.4GHZ so if this can't handle a quad, than it's worthless lol.

Performance is no where near roughly the same as watercooling. Phase pwns water. But you're right about the expense.

Generally phase is better. But high-end TEC can keep pace. It's down to the individual units at that point.

ive been waitng for this FOR SOOOOOOOO LONG!!!!! also, if i remember, they aren't going to perform as well as the Lightspeed obviosuly. but thats only out of the box. i thought i heard something about putting a different refrigerant would in fact make these things perform almost if not just as well as the lightspeed.
