Hi, i have noticed that crystaldiskmark and as ssd speeds don't match advertised speeds of Silicon Power UD85 2TB. There are significantly lower write speeds and also lower read speeds to.
Fresh w11 install and ssd health is good! MB ASRock B450M Pro4-F R2.0 installed on first NVMe slot.

Any thoughts on what's is going on ?

Can you please check the PCI-E link speed?

A note from ASRock with your board:
- 1 x Ultra M.2 Socket (M2_1), supports M Key type 2242/2260/2280 M.2 PCI Express module up to Gen3 x4 (32 Gb/s) (with Vermeer, Matisse, Cezanne, Renoir, Picasso, Summit Ridge, Raven Ridge and Pinnacle Ridge)

With your Ryzen 5 5600 codename Vermeer you should see Gen 3 speeds it could be that the SSD doesn't work well with Gen3 but that's really rare cases.

If you haven't try update the motherboard bios or ssd bios.

I had the same problem with an ADATA Gammix S5 256 gb nvme ssd...on a B450M-A motherboard running a ryzen 5 5600 processor.....tried all kinds of fixes....did not work....finally replaced the drive with a crucial nvme 500 gb ssd....working perfectly now....

That's a sign the ssd is degraded/dying.

i have heard that flashing the firmware of the nvme can potentially fix the issue..i have not personally done it myself....its better to buy a new ssd rather than risk it....

He stated the SSD Health check was good,
But I would recommend to check that in details,
@Krit Can you run HDD Sentinel or some similar utility and post here the results?

Is that your system drive? How full is it? These factors could affect the SSD speed
Also if you've written a lot to it already, it could be that the cache is fully used up so the speeds drop

It's rare budget drives ever match advised speeds once you start to use them and isnt "fresh"

Also worth noting that advertised speeds are usually from some benchmark that more often than not has no real relation to reality. The small print for most manufacturers says the numbers come from ATTO.

With budget drives it's sometimes a lottery, they use components of lower quality and in some cases even the used part's like Controller and Nand are completely different then advertised. ADATA was doing this last year with budget drives, using lower quality and completely change the drive, it was re-tested and almost 50 percent slower! Without saying anything or let the buyers know this.

Have anyone ever considered doing tests on drives that is not running a OS on them?

This in my experience gives the best read/write result just a suggestion.

I always test a drive without the OS being installed on it. You always lose some performance when you do the test, because the OS is always busy doing background tasks writing and reading to the drive. Another good test is copy big game files to that drive, you see the performance in real time! And you see also how good the DRAM and SLC cache is on your drive.

My Silicon Power A60 sucked too. It was fast, for the first 10GB or so, then we're talking like kilobytes a second.
Have you confirmed its using all 4 lanes?

Under settings there is an NVMe mode. Make sure you turn that option on and retest.

It looks like TLC speeds. Give the drive one day or another to see if it recovers its full speed. If it doesn't, then secure erase it and reinstall the system.

BTW, did you check the drive with CrystalDiskInfo?
