And no Intel CPUs actually runs this game the best ->

7800X3D losses to most 13th Gen chips in the same bracket or performs similar to the lower end ones. 13600K beats 7800X3D in both Ultra, High and Medium preset. Which I find strange actually.

AMD GPUs have a small edge in performance - but issues with not rendering the sun - and obviously can't use DLSS/DLAA or DLDSR like RTX owners to get superior visuals. Generally performance is alright with Nvidia especially on 4000 series.
Sounds good. Now we just have to wait for the game patches and Nvidia driver updates until RTX 3080 can reach the 6800 XT level of performance in this game which should be correct. :)

Also, Radeon GPUs seem to perform better in UE5 games as well.

I would just call them and ask them to double check on it, and call back every couple days depending what they answer, human memory is fickle.
I finally got it! :D It only cost me 8 days and 2 emails. Could have been worse, I guess.

I finally am taking time off from quests and enjoying my Dream House since i chose that as one of my three traits, don't have much yet, but got some basic stuff installed. Really nice carpet/rugs laid down, some display shelves, etc. I got the display shelves filled with some stuff I found that I thought was neat like Newton's Cradle, digiframe that actually changes pictures, etc

Can you build a house or do you buy one and furnish it? I still need to decide on a path once i finish the main quest. I would like to spend more points doing fun things like gastronomy and being a thief!

Sorry, didn't mean to come off that way. Was more implying that it would be common sense to turn scaling off for 720P.

I'm not saying you're trolling, you just seem to be second guessing my settings a lot from your perspective. The only perspective that matters is the one whom owns, plays on, and knows first hand what is working well and what is not on his PC, based on visual preferences and performance.

I don't know why you keep saying 720p, as it goes by percentages. As I said, I tried it at 65%, then 60 and 55. I ended up using 50% because anything higher was resulting in noticeable lag during outdoor firefights and dog fights. And btw, it was set at 50% before I even did any tweaking, so it seems it auto detected what my hardware can and can't handle well enough.

That said, we've yet to see any of these performance patches they're promising, so maybe that will allow for better settings. Until then, I'm sticking with it this way.

Trust me, I LOVE great visuals, but the hardware upgrade I've been planning has been put on hold due to high GPU prices and having had to do some repairs on my truck, some of which may not be afforded until next spring. Life used to be a beach, now it's,... well, you know. :(

What kind of FPS are you getting? Bethsoft games run fine at about 40fps, to me anyway.

As I said in one of my prior posts, I'm averaging about 45 FPS. I haven't watched all situations closely on the FPS meter, but I suspect some of the outdoor firefights and dog fights were considerably lower than that. Everyone has their own susceptibility to such things though.

I found a temporary solution for crashing on A770.
I use 512 textures and bethini low + tweaks. There was no crash for 4 hours!!!
Vram usage still 9.6Gb.
512 full ba2

easiest way to make money in Starfield... I did it a few times... you got to run back to ship, sleep 48 hours, talk to shop owner, then do the pond trick again for it to restock... they prob will patch this one sooner rather than later since its so easy... get that money while you can lmao

The game was updated but still got the issue, Go to [ ] :banghead:

It seems there were a variety of issues with mission, I was lucky enough to get the unfixed one.

I'm still only around level 20, mostly doing side quests, exploring, I got stuck on the main mission where you have to find "shimmering object in the distance with your scanner" I for the life me see nothing shimmering, so eh. Not sure what I will do. I'm having fun with the other stuff though, so meh.

The game has a console command for cash though. And you can still get achievements while using it too if thats a bother... I really am not going to be found 'grinding' a Bethesda game lol. Or exploiting systems to essentially get the same results as a simple line of code without wasting hours on a repetitive set of actions...

I guess playing on a console you are stuck with exploits. But on PC? yeah lol

I like these exploits, its fun to me, I won't be doing it more than a few times though, just enough to give me a little boost. I don't want unlimited everything, it just becomes boring and OP then

i rarely use that kind of exploit, also Skyrim/Fallout had the same "seller inventory" but mostly hidden deeper  (you had to use "TCL" command )

like fallout/TES series, it's easy to go OP real quick in Starfield, even without abusing exploit and using console command or mods, also "loot hoarder get rich quicker" even 1 caps/septim/creds item give 1 caps/septim/creds more

starfield, well outpost, crafting mass selling (with 24-48h wait as sole "exploit" ) and bam more than 10mil creds in my pockets (lvl 47 atm, iirc optimal maxed out all skills is between 70 and 81 like Skyrim )

Yeah thats a fine line, I see what ya mean
well i can understand it too

still playing it, mostly exploring/randoming doing side content (actually faction quest are the main content ... main quest is for when you want to reboot ;) )
Yep the real fun is defo in NG+
actually ... imho, no  a full 100% before NG+ is more fun to me than rushing it and turning the game into a roguelite

Anyone still playing this game? :D

This right there is true Fallout and Skyrim successor. :D
well, yes ... as i have (and still intend to rack up more hours later ) more than 6000hrs all version together since 2011 in Skyrim i intend to play the hell out of Starfield (and i need to get into Fo4 a bit more ... i have more hours sank into Fo76 than Fo4  )

and also, aside the "sink in the ground" bug, it's been bug free till now (ok ... lack of sun maybe too ... but idc) performance is solid and as i mentioned with lower CPU usage than GPU
1620p 50% RRS 100% sharpening at ultra settings still look goods, occasional 45fps dips but it's still plenty smooth in that game (just like in Skyrim and Fallout )

You know, me too, except they're both in the scale of thousands of hours

The love I've had for Bethesda's worlds is something out of our own real world, I can tell you that much. But nothing comes even close to Starfield. I've never found resource management to be much of a problem, or earning currency for that matter, but I've got these games' mechanics at an instinctual level at this point. I just jumped onto the UC Vanguard questline to build up affinity quick with the Space Mommy

The difficulty setting in Starfield works much like Oblivion's, you're just messing with the player x NPC damage scale and turning them into sponges (and the occasional megasponge because of increased legendary enemy drop rate). It's a shame that there are no "needs" or "Survival" setting, hopefully if that is added down the line, it's not as buggy and poorly designed as Fallout 4's...

Does anyone else think that ship building is a real PITA? Also, adding ship modules to existing ships is not intuitive.

Does anyone else think that ship building is a real PITA? Also, adding ship modules to existing ships is not intuitive.
When you get down to building your own thing from scratch you'll quickly start noticing how limited it is, was my take.

There are lots of limitations. The size limits for example. And they don't always make sense either. Also, the way every shipyard has random bits others don't is really annoying; you see something great in one spot, but they don't sell good reactors there, you go to another spot with good reactors, and then you're missing out on, say, any and all 2x2 Habs. WTF!

I mean I could get into the fact a shipyard is dedicated to one or two 'brands' (like Stroud, Hopetech etc) but then for the love of god put all parts in the builder. Especially the ones that aren't bound to ship class or quality. Why is half the Structural category different every time anyway, I don't get it.

No Needs and yet they've incorporated a full blown afflictions/wounds system with accompanying medicine for everything. Its weird isn't it. Also food... 2HP/s... why even bother. So much filler content its crazy, or just waiting for patchwork to actually make it a feature.... but given Bethesda's post launch care I'm not holding my breath.

Oxygen is another such example. At its core the idea of o2 vs co2 is great. The execution though... eh, they just visualised you getting tired and now you can literally run yourself into the ground if you take it really far. But will you ever, right...

There's even a power to like instantly replenish and hold your O2 at max
imo this isn't all that much of a problem, it's like, the needs thing that I really miss from Fallout 76. I also miss item condition mechanics, they really needed to have this added back on Starfield IMO. I personally enjoyed this extra management, even if a lot of people called it a bore.

This launch build, while stable(ish), is kind of unfinished in my eyes - they're going to add the button to instantly use a few items like food etc. on an upcoming patch, as well as FOV sliders, official DLSS support, etc.

Yeah, I know. And again, I'm sorry.

While not ideal, that's playable. If it were below 30fps, I wouldn't bother personally..

You keep saying you're sorry, yet you continue to insist the textures I'm seeing at the res scale I'm using are fine, and that FPS WELL below 40 are plenty playable. So I have to ask, are you actually implying I can't tell when outdoor firefights and dog fights are feeling laggy, or when textures look bad to me?

I'm getting kind of tired of repeating myself. I've had days in the past where I stretched the use of my hardware well into and below the 30 FPS range, so I'm very familiar with that. Now that I'm 65 and have slower reflexes lowered dexterity, and worse vision, I don't care to go there anymore. If you don't believe that I'm experiencing enough lag to adversely affect my combat and enjoyment of the game, not to mention the visual aspects being less than desireable, the discussion starts feeling pointless.

easiest way to make money in Starfield... I did it a few times... you got to run back to ship, sleep 48 hours, talk to shop owner, then do the pond trick again for it to restock... they prob will patch this one sooner rather than later since its so easy... get that money while you can lmao

Yeah some of the guides you see on YT definitely need to be updated. For instance a fairly good guide I watched on how to get a decent amount of credits, powerful weapons, and a nice ship early on, stated the Trade Authority will let you sell then buy back stolen items at the same price. That's not at all true anymore, so obviously based on a pre release copy.

I didn't need the guide for the ship because I'd already just done that quest, and I actually found the Gal Bank theft to be easier than he implied for leveling up Security. His tip for stealing the powerful weapon is both useful and amusing though. Overall it's a pretty decent game as far as gameplay goes, I just hope they can make it perform better and more stable.
