I'm still stuck with that Into the unknown go to bug, if I go on PC and use console commands to bypass the mission, what will happen? Only the useless achievements will be locked?

I thought I was experiencing a bug in that questline when after going to the Theta temple and getting the power, then putting it into the collection at the lodge, I saw that temple pop up again with an objective marker. So I went there again, the temple door opened like before, did the zero G positioning mini game, and thought I'd gotten the power again, or maybe after it reset somehow.

When I went back to the lodge though it said no new artifact when I tried to add it to the collection. I also acquired two more artifacts, which would yield same result when trying to place them in the collection. I should have been at 8 powers total unlocked by then, but only 6 were showing. However at some point it finally accepted me placing one in the collection, and I now have 8 total showing now.

I've read that Into the Unknown is fairly buggy in whether it shows all temples/powers being found, even after actually finding/obtaining all of them, but it also seems to be buggy in when it will let you add artifacts to the collection, and objection markers popping up again. The game is open world in what quests you can take and when, but also fairly linear in the order in which you do certain quests.

We need more custom ship examples. I like to see what others have done since I'm afraid to show my ugly as hell behemoth.

BEHOLD!

You can use an asi plugin to unlock the achievements again anyway
I play Starfield on Xbox, so I'll use PC just to bypass this part.

My issue is the game just shows Go To [...]. I will try what @Frag_Maniac did and pass the mission.

What's annoying is since the latest update performance got worse somehow, in Atlantis I rarely experienced drops in FPS now it's very common.

I found ship building to be a real pain. I think the UI needs to be more helpful when placing parts/modules/etc and give suggestions.

The plugin only unmarks and prevents the game from marking your save as modified/cheated, so it'd probably be a good idea to keep your game intact. If the saves between both versions are interchangeable, I don't know. I purchased the premium edition on Steam, because Steam always gets the best mod support.

This is just something I heard on YouTube recently and haven't verified for myself: where the connections occur depends on which connection point you highlight and press CTRL+G on.

I.e. if you simply choose a load of habs, snapping them in, out and all about before making up your mind there's no telling where the connections will be or what kind of maze you'll be making. Hence, if this is correct, the logical thing to do is to settle on a choice of habs and locations for them and build it as planned from scratch, choosing the connections you want to use.

Haven't seen this mentioned or explained before, but I hope it's correct since it takes all the guesswork out of building. It's classic Bethesda though; giving us 10% of the info we need and letting us work out the rest for ourselves. To be honest I quite like it that way, despite it being a smidge annoying at times.

The main thing that's buggy about the ship builder for me is the adding of parts is very inconsistent, and where you hover the cursor is nowhere near where it actually attaches when the attachment point turns green. When I was trying to install the Conduction Grid and Comspike modules, the Conduction Grid would install fine on both the Frontier and the Razorleaf, but the Comspike would only install in the correct position on the Frontier. I also find it's strange that it makes a sound like the part is attached once you let go, even if it's nowhere near the attachment point.

Peculiar. Can't say I have that problem at all; it works very predictably whenever I build. Outpost building on the other hand is quite finicky.

but what's the alternative? don't buy it in the hopes that the rest of the market does the same and studios only set scope on super-safe games that they can fully finish on time?

There's enough here for a decent game that overall meets the goal of what they were trying to do. But with some mods and future adds that "decent" can be "legendary".

Once Bethesda finds their stride they make some incredible games. - Oblivion (decent->good->legendary (shivering isles)), Skyrim (good->legendary) - fallout 3 (decent) -> fallout new vegas (legendary) etc...

I treat Bethesda games like new Windows releases. Between great operating systems will be a windows ME or a windows 8.

Fallout 4, The Elder scrolls blades, and now starfield. The skipping windows editions idea thus doesn't really work here given their last few games have not lived up to the hype.

Bethesda made good games back when their engine was still considered decent and the bugs were more acceptable. Given that TESVI is already confirmed creation engine 2, I'm already extremely doubting their next game will be good either.

Games are a form of entertainment, the alternative is to do something else. Life is way too short to spend time on games you only find mediocre.

Quite. However, what you find mediocre and what someone else finds mediocre is likely to be two very different things. Personally I've spent more time on Starfield since launchand enjoyed that time more than I have with any game since Skyrim.

Congratulations on the addition to your family. I played the most games when my son was in his infancy. He would sleep and I would play Witcher III at least a couple of hours every night. Work from home + new baby = free time when baby is sleeping

I'm speaking in broad strokes, not individual ones. The difference in the average rating of Starfield vs Skyrim bears out that out. I'm not saying anyone's personal opinion is wrong, only pointing out that the "every other windows edition is good" logic doesn't really apply to Bethesda when you look at the aggregate of all reviews for their last few titles. You can enjoy playing a game on an individual level while acknowledging this broader observation, the two are not mutually exclusive.

Looks like your save is screwed up somehow. The game has a few scripting errors, my save for example is bugged in a very unique way, my suit seems to grant no protection from cold weather and I have the "weather warning" sign permanently on, it's been that way for the past 2 playthroughs.

I'm about to start NG+4 after doing a full run of NG+3, but I think i'll start to fast-track until I get to NG+10 and then do a full-run again. My character is currently level 70.

How do you find the NG+ experience? I've got the all the artefacts in my cargo hold, but have no plans for going down the rabbit hole until I've exhausted everything else. To be honest the whole concept doesn't appeal to me a great deal.

I can't lie to you, I enjoy it.

The Starborn options aren't really all that major (with the exception of one that can change the course of events that result in "A High Price to Pay"), but they often add humorous, unusual or cunning options to resolve quests. It opens an entire branch to all questlines, awards you a cool (and increasingly powerful with each ascension) Starborn ship and an unique single-piece legendary spacesuit, it's worth doing it at least once.

Of course, upon doing it, the game's state will essentially be reset, with the Constellation questline starting from the very beginning (with the ability to fast track), all side quests and story branches reset, all credits and inventory will be removed, all currently owned ships will be gone, all relationships forged will be undone and affinities reset, etc.

NG+10 is when you get the ultimate Starborn bonuses, the Mark X ship and the Hunter's armor if what I read is right. I'll get there at my own pace.

My life is changing diapers right now, so starfield is like a heavenly reprieve... even with the bugs :D

Now that is a game itself, enjoy and gratz on the new member of your family.

It could also be a really OLD member of the family.

In any case, I honestly still don't know what I think of this game. It's very close to nothing, but it's something enough that the hours just fly by.

The main thing that's buggy about the ship builder for me is the adding of parts is very inconsistent, and where you hover the part is nowhere near where it actually attaches when the attachment point turns green.

That is exactly my impression. Also, if I attempt to add a fourth type of weapon I would like it to stop me from doing so before I add it so I can skip the check. In fact, I think it would be really helpful if they had a build wizard that would walk you through choosing your parts and then narrow down your options as you go. Right now it is basically just bang your head against the way until it all fits together and flies.

Also the checker at the end, say for ex. tells you a part is not attached but doesn't highlight which part. Thus in a massive build its like a needle in a haystack. Talk about annoyance lol.

Been trying to figure out if I want this game..
I think I do but I hear things like "space travel is only an on rails animation, you can't actually fly anywhere" and "there is no method of vehicular transportation on planets, you just have to walk" and that missions are boring and repetitive, planets are boring auto generations. Is all this actually true? What is the saving grace?

Also I have always wondered why people say "I can't lie" at the beginning of a response lol..
I get it but is like peoples first response to generally lie so often, that now people have to put a disclaimer before thier actual response? lol.
I just think it's funny. Not like a personal insult or anything I promise. It just makes me laugh a little inside.
