To be honest no idea, thought it might do SLi due to 2x PCI-E slots

Pretty sure it isn't as they were first reserved for nforce chipsets on 775 e.g. 650i, 680i, 750i, 780i and 790i.

From what I read... it has to do with drivers more than hardware. It seems 975x does unoficially support SLi, and the only thing that has to be done is driver tinkering, if I'm not fully wrong.

Here's a lil' bit I found about SLi and 975x (not my board specifically, but I guess there should be a way to activate it)

So it is possible after all. Just not officially, I guess, though I haven't checked if any of the newer drivers allow SLi without modding.

Let's do some 560 Ti (Asus DCU II) overclocking. I hope this does 1GHz with a slight voltage bump. Currently just going 10MHz increments (factory GPU clock is 830MHz) and running Superposition.

Paired with Xeon X5675 at stock as it has only a stock cooler.

i would try with no volt increase first. did not do much for mine until you get it colder.

The only think that irks me about it is its loud as all hell Delta fans. I have a Nidec fanned white unit and that thing is barely audible, on par with Sunons.

Okay, finally some time to take some decent pics of the 6600GT card and what came in the box. Literally insane. Amazing what they packed into a mid range card even back then. The discs just kept coming with two full games and a bunch of software excuse the excess in photos lol

My old mate used to run one of those. Clocked his Pentium D 830 pretty hard. It's not an SLI board, is it?



I've been looking for them in their original retail boxes. Haven't come across any yet. I used to run two in Xfire back in the day. Were good cards!

Sheesh. Good times. I had an 820 with either 1 or 2 gigs of Ram. Then of course Core 2 came out what felt like immediately after. Embarrassed it even more than an Athlon 64 X2!

- XP SP3 w/ JungleFlasher
- spare Xenon revision 360 to supply power to drive w/ custom DVD power cable

This is impressive on sooo many levels. If I may make a suggestion? A desk, table or even a piece of plywood would be a better working surface...

Had some fun with a Skt423 1.5GHz Willy P4.
Took me more hours to get every game in there than the actual install (which took about a hour tops) and driver installation (which took another hour because I had to find the "sweetspot- nVidia driver version) but the whole games took like 4 hours or so to install.

Dang blast from the past! Such a short lived socket! Obviously it was manufactured for a while but it only lasted but a year before 478 was released. I never really saw a whole lot of these!

I got mine as some sort of "478 surplus" build.

IIRC, it had an 478-to-423 adapter in place of the 1.5, along with what I think was a Northwood Celeron, an ATI Rage XL 8MB PCI (strange GPU choice considering the AGP slot was just above it).

The rest were a standard 8139 NIC, an Lite-On DVDRW burner that would have a stuck tray no matter what belt I used, and I think there was yet another 80GB Maxtor 6Y or 6L series (the chunkier Diamondmax 9/10, not the slim 6E that loved failing like flies) and a broken LC-8460BTX PSU.

I also have a 478SDR board - the Aopen AX4BS, made on the same chipset as the MSI.

Are you talking about the 666M part? I assume that’s just for the 666Mhz core clock.

I have that card. Remember it like it shows and was blown away with amount of discs.

Have the same 6600GT... unfortunately it died with artefacts. No amount of repair techniques managed to get it back.

And my X1950 AGP also joined it unfortunately, so quite a double whammy for me.

Allow me to present a victim of my hardcore violence.

PSU: about a couple decades old refurbished FSP Epsilon 700 W.
Motherboard: H61 from Gigabyte with faulty VRM.
GPU: suddenly completely intact, yet it is HD 7850 of ONE GB VRAM. Yes, one, not two.
The game (CP2077, ver. 1.61) has been installed on an HDD for further memes.
