Bad owners or not, the bully XL is a dangerous dog/breed, whatever. I have read of lots of people who bought them as pups visiting vets or pdsa etc to give them up as they have grown too big for them to control. A lot of people have been killed by this breed(sic) of dog, and it will only get worse. The general type of people buying these are they type who buy them to intimidate others with the dog, yes i know there are some that don't but this type of dog is not a family pet, like a spaniel or lab for example. I have seen or read an interview with an owner with a bully xl that would not leave the dog alone with her kids, now what does that say.....

Any one owning these should have it muzzled and on a lead in public or imo it should be taken a destroyed as a lesson to others to do the same.

I get some will disagree with me, but please try not to be nasty if you reply to my post.

Maybe we can send them to the vets to get rubber teeth? Or we botox the jaw muscles of aggressive dogs. They'll drool more but the bite won't be so bad. Like getting chomped by a toothless nonagenrarian(?).

Clearly, I'm not being serious. Muzzle such dogs in public, restrict further sales of the dog, penalise breeders who sell dog after ban, punish owners who are reckless. Job done. Bosh.

When they are banned, all bully XL dogs are required to be neutered iirc

On a different note, I've just had my car's MOT (yearly safety inspection for anyone outside of the UK).

The rear suspension's rubber bushings are starting to deteriorate. Ford quoted me £320 to replace them. The part costs £22.50 a piece. What the heck?

That's probably £270 for labour for a job that I think on average takes around 3 hours for both sides by a pro, 90 quid an hour!

Normally, I'm OK with paying a bit more just to make sure I get a proper job done with a stamp in the service book, but £270 for labour is a bit too much.

this is one reason I miss Finland more than the UK, they have super cheap (run by the government as a single entity non-profit) transportation system. I went everywhere in Finland and it didn't cost me hardly anything at all, buses and trains were always clean and reliable too. I think 40 euro to go on 8 hr train ride, in UK its like 400 quid for that kind of duration.

I can't afford a car at the moment where I live due to inflation, and neither can my friends in UK. just would be nice if we had at least a base line like Finland.

It says that one owner was a Muppet.

All dogs crave attention and play, training is both ,IMHO no excuses for bad training.

I do agree a lot of Muppets buy them though.

Yes. And lots of lakes, beautiful forests with public fireplaces along the paths, firewood replenished by the government. Wooden houses in the middle of nowhere that you can rent for a night or two, and more saunas per capita (usually with no dress code ;)) than any other country. Also some crazy tax on alcohol, unfortunately.

Thirded.

I spent 5 days in Finnish Lapland with my Granddaughter in December 2015 as she wanted to meet Santa :) it was glorious but damn, the warmest it got whilst I was there was minus 37C  Coldest was minus 41C I believe ............... although the week after we came home it was apparently a toasty minus 22C.

I was in northern Finland last summer for a month, it wasn't that bad actually on mosquitoes this time, but in 2017 when I went it was.

I only go to Finland in the summer, cause yeah screw darkness for 8 months. lol

Really heavy rain up here. I live in an old house with dormer rooms. That means open channels between the different roof angles. That means if the lead that forms the gutter channels is too neat, when the water flows fast, it spills over and onto the bare roof. Given enough rain, it starts to leak into the attic. Which it's doing now. Got a few saturated sections of cross beam. I've laid out old rugs and towels to absorb the worst. Hopefully it'll keep the water from the internal ceilings. It's made worse by the the chimney breast which is saturated and needs waterproofed. Need a new roof. :(

I hope you can get it fixed without spending a fortune. :(

On a different note: my car got an advisory on the MOT for my number plate delaminating. I was sooo shocked to hear something like this! In most countries, number plates are solid metal with no chance to delaminate ever. Here, we've got some cheap-ass laminated plastic stuck to the bumper of your car by 2 screws (or double-sided tape in worse cases). Why? It's so damn cheap, ugly, and prone to failure. :(

Yeah... We've had three people on the street need new roofs. One paid for a proper roofing contractor. Probably paid a fair premium for it but this company did SO MUCH for this house and they were done in three-four days. Rebuilt the entire roof and sorted out some of the tiles and gutters on the front of the house as well as painting the front of their house for them too since they had the big ladder out.

Meanwhile the other two house holds are probably on their 2nd or 3rd group of gypsy 'roofers' and all of them have been trying to get their roofs done since July this year. These people turn up set all the scaffolding up then completely vanish, and when you do see them, they barely get any work done and they demand part of the money to be paid up front then threaten to smash your windows and set fired to your house after theyve been set up for two weeks when you finally decide to tell them you dont want them working on your house no more and to leave.

The sad fact is, my mum went out there and sorted out a deal with the legit roofers working on the first house and they said they would give 10% off to every house they worked on, on the street since they were here anyway. Absolutely NOBODY took their offer. My mum was proper pissed off. The area is a heap of shit but she loves the neighbourhood and tries to help some of the families out.

Hiring gypsy cowboy builders will never end well.

I think the house across the street started leaking recently as well. The resident there has a pretty well paid 30k+ a year job, can afford to take his family on multiple holidays abroad without fail every year but cant afford to fix his roof and I dont think his roof has been touched in all the years that ive been alive and lived here.

As my mum says - The most important thing is the roof, and it takes a lot of abuse but if you put the money in. It will look after you for generations.

Wow! And here I was, huffing and puffing about Ford trying to charge me £320 to replace my rear suspension bushes that cost 20 quid a piece in their own online store.

I'm gonna take it to different garage next week to get another quote.

Wow! And here I was, huffing and puffing about Ford trying to charge me £320 to replace my rear suspension bushes that cost 20 quid a piece in their own online store.

I'm gonna take it to different garage next week to get another quote.
To be honest I think I am just going back to doing it myself, to dear and the last three times I had something to fix anyway after they fixed it, plus once they bolted only half of the light laden valve on the rear axle, ABS kicking in at 70 while changing lanes nearly ended me, since I wasn't breaking at the time, or really doing 70 :/ :D

It's always better to do it yourself, as long as you know what you're doing. Unfortunately, I don't, plus, I don't have the tools, space, etc. (not to mention how lazy I am over the weekends). :ohwell:

I am fortunate that my son in law is a mechanic in that sense, seems with the cost of living increases most trades people have doubled their labour costs and increased their mark up on parts.

we had to get a new roof last year, but before that we had leaks, we glued down a heavy tarp over the troublesome areas until we could do the roof though. you can buy thick tarp (i think its plastic/vinyl)

not sure if that would help or not, if you have neighbors they might not like the ugly site, but eh it does act as temporary roof well enough and is cheap like 40 bucks for our big tarp

me and my Dad used to love Ford, but they have turned into a garbage company. they changed the engine in the 2016 Ford Escapes where the valves have gaps between them to allow for more air, but basically every ford escape 2016 and after ends up needing a new engine replacement after about 60k miles, the old escapes never did, and Ford refuses to do a recall even though they know its their fault. my Dad got burned on this recently as he had a 2017 model. apparently they changed the engine back the way it was with the new 2020+ models... disgusting company. they know full well otherwise they wouldn't have changed back, and if they know full well they should have offered a free recall engine replacement.

I am fortunate that my son in law is a mechanic in that sense, seems with the cost of living increases most trades people have doubled both their labour costs and increased their mark up on parts.

my uncle is a mechanic too and sometimes helps us out, but not always sometimes he charges full price. your son-in-law only helps you out... well the proof is in the pudding I suppose

It will look after you for generations.

this is horrible. our roof was done in one day and we have a big house. The Mexicans do all the roofing in my area, for everyone and anyone, and they work harder than anyone out there, its crazy how fast they work actually. They make good money, and their food is 10/10, I am happy they are here personally.
