Greetings!

I bought an RX 580 8GB 2048sp MLLSE and it is working... But not as it should. I don't have expertise in the area, so I would like to ask for your help, if anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it! I made an effort to collect as much information as possible and put it in the images and video below!

The problem: Well, I bought this RX 580 8GB MLLSE 2048 sp and installed it on a new PC (SSD reset and Windows installed, without drivers). Just to be safe I ran DDU to clean old drivers. I installed the latest driver for the card found on the AMD website and I started to notice some problems. Some white dots that blink on the screen and when I move the mouse over them they disappear... I soon downloaded a game to test the graphic quality, it ran Diablo 4 in high quality at 60+ FPS but with geometric glitches on the screen... I tested it on a lighter game, Palia, and also the same problem...

I took a look at the board internally, and everything seems ok. I changed the thermal paste for a better one, but the temperature doesn't seem to be a problem, on the FuMark it didn't exceed 64º.

The Chip says 215-0910052 and the memories are all Hynix H5GC8H24AJR and the other code in the memory is TBNH982WT1.

Thank you in advance for your attention!

I did more tests... but I don't know how to interpret it... It's from MemtestCL

Sure! Thanks for your attention!

Here is the BIOS that originally came on the board, I saved it using GPU-Z.

Thanks! @K7SEM i will try!

One importante thing i forgot to mention: Every time I try to change any configuration outside of the FAN settings, the screen goes black and the computer restarts and I lose the AMD settings.

Feels like your VRAM is toast.

Try this BIOS:

Try here driver and underclock either core or memory clock a bit lower

Firstly thanks for helping!

I did what you suggested, but it seems that with this driver it got EVEN worse... I Underclocked both the Core and the Memory and the situation got even worse... Below is a video of how FurMark turned out.

Obs: Even with normal clock with this drive it was worse!

And please make sure you got a backup GPU because BIOS flashing is gimmicky and can brick your GPU to the extent of it being unusable.

I strongly recommend avoiding flashing if this is THE ONLY GPU YOU HAVE.

Clocked too high, or hardware defect. All those Mllse kllisre Soyo Peladn that claim to be "95% or 100% new" are in fact refurb cards built from scrap components (gpu chip pulled off of a miner card, memory chips from somewhere else usually from mixed batches too, etc). On aliexpress if you want to go cheap, then get a real rx 570 4gb (asrock phantom gaming for $70), or a 580 8gb (xfx gts xxx edition for $85), i buy cards of this range regularly for some cheapo builds, and these asrock and xfx are some of the most reliable options at least on aliexpress. These cards have decent vram cooling, and usually come with vram chips in good condition even after mining.

Prior to anything else downclock to 1100mhz core and 1500mhz memory with afterburner (click apply then launch a game, easier than through amd control panel). If the artifacting persists then you have a hardware defect. On aliexpress you get 15 day period to apply for a warranty (aka open a dispute with evidence), the caveat here is that you most probably already tampered the warranty seals so you wont be able to provide decent evidence and will loose the dispute (so $0 refund).

Downclock the ram at approx 1600Mhz. If that solves the issue, it's 99.9% related to a too tight timing thing set in VGA Bios.

This bios should work but unlikly fix your issue since the card is generating artifacts and the clocks are almost the same.

A slower clocked bios which should work on your card:

the op already provided a video where the gpu is at 950mhz and mem at 1500mhz, but still getting checkerboard artifacts in furmark
To me that sounds like faulty vram, and being a mllse (refurb miner card) confirms my suspicion.

Updates on my problem:

I changed the BIOS to what @VuurVOS suggested from SJS (low clock) and unfortunately the card simply doesn't show an image, the card works, the coolers activate but it doesn't show an image, so I'm going back to the original BIOS that I made as a backup.

As for the breach of the warranty seal (because I opened the plate), @Nike_486DX I took great care to remove it entirely, so everything is ok, I've already requested a refund and who knows, maybe I'll follow your suggestion instead of getting a Refurbished plate, get a Used board.

I'll try the other BIOS suggested here and I'll give you more updates later!

From the guide posted here by @K7SEM on board problems, it seems to be a VRAM problem. But I confess that the software issue still bothers me, even if the problem is VRAM, it doesn't seem like the card has a good configuration.

Thank you to everyone who has tried to help me with the problem and posted here! It's cool to see that the TechPowerUp community is so participative!

Can you share a picture of the PCB?

Please try this bios as well

I'm having problems trying to change the BIOS again... My processor is a Ryzen 5 5500, that is, it doesn't have an integrated GPU. However, I use a WAVLINK Graphic Adapter that transforms a USB into 2 HDMI inputs and I have been able to normally use the computer even after changing the BIOS and having the problem of no longer displaying the screen.

But every time I try to open AMDVBFlash the computer restarts... I've tried using CMD but without success...

Which version of amdvbflash do you use?

I was using the latest version... I managed to put the RX 580 on my main computer on which I use my RX 5700 XT. However, it does not recognize the second board so I can change the BIOS. I'm using version 3.15 now.

Erm you need to plug it in the lower card I do wonder how it can boot without giving you a warning regarding power.

Indeed!

@thrauthvim You must connect power of the second card. Also use version 2.93 since this version will work the best with Polaris cards.

 I don't know if my 600w power supply will be enough... By Cooler Master Power Supply Calculator my computer needs ~ 380 Watts. I have a second 500w power supply, could I connect one of the cards to the other power supply?

Anyway, I already got my refund, I don't know if it's worth continuing this journey to fix this board. I think I'll give it to a friend who has more affinity with this technical part of computers.

Just connect it, so long you dont do a benchmark, game or a stress test on that system it will go fine :)
