I remember when I was in middle school and read about some game titled Clive Barker something, can't remember what it was. I remember I was interested in it just because of the name attached to it, even though I had never heard of Clive Barker or knew who that was. In retrospect, being older now, it is kind of wild how how my younger self immediately attached it to being quality work just because it had a name attached to it, and a masculine name at that.
I kind of understand the whole JK Rowling initialing her name on the Harry Potter books now, like it never made sense to me, and honestly it still doesn't. I have no idea why my younger self would have though oh hey Clive Barker, he sounds like someone important if they put his cool sounding name on this game box, must be a good game.
I think this is why books at Barnes and Nobles always have the authors name so fucking big, when all I really want to do is see the pretty cover art, make the author and book name super small and just give me all the pretty art... but human psychology.
I never realized any of this until just now, you just made it click for me, or triggering something in my brain anyway. lmao
Humans are a weird as fuck. Also, I still wish books would just make the name of the book and authors name like 12 point font, just let me enjoy the fucking beautiful art please. ffs lol
