I've never played any of the Mass Effect games. Is it worth to get them all and in what order should I play them, I'm guessing start with the 1st one.

I'd say it's worth it considering what they regularly sell for any more, assuming you think you'll enjoy them. It's good space opera.

Maybe grab a month of Game Pass and you can try the originals, and the Legendary Edition to see if they're for you.

Just watch a few minutes of some streamer play it on Twitch. You should get the general feel of what gameplay is like. From there you can decide whether or not to splurge.

The Mass Effect titles periodically go on sale. You might want to put this in your wishlist and wait for the e-mail notifying you that it is on sale.

It's my favorite game of all time. 2 is the best for story with all the DLC side side. The first sets up the story and has RPG elements which is gone in 2/3 . 3 is alright. mass effect andromeda was made by other people and you can pretend it doesn't exist.

Mass effect is one of those game series where you periodically stop and say to yourself "Holy sh3$&%, THIS GAME IS AMAZING". When I first landed on the Citadel and it opened up, mind blown, I still remember the moment.

For how old it is, the graphics are still incredible, and the attention to detail and acting are really amazing - the story is tremendous.

What's Andromeda? Is that a game?

Just get the legendary edition, you then have all 3 games re-mastered with 40 DLC included, there are some decent deals on it too (especially in the Steam Winter deals starting in a couple of weeks, it was half price in the summer sale), you may pay a little more for it than buying the 3 games separately but the visuals and DLC make it worth it IMO.

It was Andromeda that got me into ME 1 -3 as I played it first and quite enjoyed it

They're alright.
I give honorary mention to the Dishonoured games.

Can run the first maxed out on 5K (VSR) and only use 230 watts of my 7900 XT @ 130 FPS engine limit.

Amazing serie imo, most likely its my fav single player/story game of all time but I might be biased.
Finished the original version trilogy 2 times and then the Legendary edition and I still feel like playing it again some time.

Andromeda I treat it as a separate thing and that way I've actually kind of liked it.

The "Mass Effect" series is iconic, basically a must play. Get the "Legendary Edition", it's regularly on sale for 12 bucks or less, and includes all 3 games & DLC's.

PS: the "Legendary Edition" doesn't include the multi player part (which is pretty good) for ME3. For that you need to buy the "Mass Effect 3 N7 Digital Deluxe Edition" separately.

The entire trilogy, despite the later installments' flaws, is one of my favourites. It depends upon what you like in games too. Do you like action RPGs with a scifi spin? I still think of the first one as the best Star Trek game. If you're looking to play these, get the Legendary Edition and play them in order. Mass Effect I has the best story while the second installment has the best characterization, other than Sheppard, but the problems of Mass Effect III first show up here. The gameplay mechanics improve across the games with one exception.

Mass Effect (1-3) are fantastic games, my favorite is still 2.
1 was kinda rough, but it got a controls overhaul and a facelift w Legendary Edition (get that one as said).

Never played Andromeda so can't comment there.

I was pretty mad when ME2 came out and all the RPG elements from ME1 was removed. ME2 is more of a Action game. Looking back the changes to be more casual gamer friendly probably actually made it successful.

The multiplayer of ME3 was good for what tit was. Basically Gears Horde Mode. Did about 20 hours. Got all the achievements and went back to playing BF4.

Only real reason to play 3 is to wrap up the story, which you will be super disappointed by. Pretty much doesn't matter how you play or the decision you make all 3 endings are stupid.

The combat in ME1 wasn't really good though (originally), it needed to be done IMO.
If you're going to be an action-RPG you need to strike some sort of balance.

The ME books by drew karpyshyn are good as well. He was a writer on Mass Effect. The other books are shit. One even seemly pretends one of the characters didnt die in the prior book. Clearly the author just read the summary and a made a sequel without doing the prep work.

A lot of the lore in the games is ignored in favor of whatever works for the storyline. But drew did it right.

I've never played any of the Mass Effect games. Is it worth to get them all and in what order should I play them, I'm guessing start with the 1st one.
Definitely just get the vanilla trilogy and all of the DLC, and play them 1 > 2 > 3. I would strongly advise you to get them from sources one cannot mention, because virtually every real store offers an incomplete deal spoiled by DRM and shitty business organization.

Its awesome. I wouldn't directly dive into the HD versions/remasters, in the end its just ME anyway.

Yeah ME1 > ME2 is quite a switch, but eventually you will discover that most if not all of the capabilities you used to have are still there and even still segmented in quite the same way. There's just a lower amount of blocks to fill, really, and more things to specialize towards.

Story of 3 and endings... I've never really been inclined to agree on that. There are 3 choices, yes, and they're all suboptimal, but perhaps that's exactly what the game wanted to leave behind. Throughout all three episodes of the trilogy you ARE literally fighting the impossible.

Yup, I mean I'm not a big fan of it but also never really bothered me and I've finished the trilogy 3 times already.
Its more like just enjoy the ride, lots of fun to be had in that game for ppl who like story driven games.:) 'its one of the very few games that can actually make me emotional and get me attached to certain characters, etc'
