I think this may the best monitor that uses the 27" LG OLED panel as it has USB-C PD at 65W, has DP 1.4a and still has two HDMI 2.1 ports. LG 27GR95QE is a bit dimmer and lacks the USB-C port.

It's also on sale at Best Buy at $900 for US peeps.

A good IPS alternative is the LG 27GR83Q-B with two HDMI 2.1 ports. It's on sale at $350, but take note its only HDR400, but what can you expect with standard FALD.

OLED or Mini LED is the way to go for modern computer montiors, too bad they are still in the unobtanium ranges still for most people.

I've got a pretty solid 1440p 165hz IPS dedicated G-SYNC panel since 2017 but as soon OLEDs are half their current asking price i'd fancy jumping ship. Maybe a few years to go?

Benchmark Scores I once clocked a Celeron-300A to 564MHz on an Abit BE6 and it scored over 9000.
OLEDs are too expensive for the drawbacks of non-RGB subpixel layout and limitations on how they can be used for static images.

I don't know anyone using an OLED as a monitor the same way they would an LCD monitor - Leaving it on for hours, having the brightness set to whatever you want with no fear of burn-in.

It would be hypocritical for me to complain about the shorter lifespan of current-gen OLED panels, since I change my LCD every couple of years to keep up with the latest trends in size/refresh-rate/features - but I do know plenty of people who bought decent monitors 10 years ago and are still using them. Given the number of OLED TVs at work that look dire after 5-6 years, there's no way I can trust OLED to last long enough for those people yet. Hell, the LG C1 looked bad within 9 months, although in fairness it was on loop in the lobby for 9 hours a day.

Yep, that's the plan if it lasts that long................and if it doesn't I'm skepitcal of buying another one of that type/brand. But if something came out that checked all things I'm looking for, and reviews were good, then I would crack open the wallet.

I have a VA monitor with a funny sub pixel arrangement and just like the OLED it kind of looks like 1080p and not 1440p and text is a bit funny. Bit of a bummer.

I'd save that $1000 for the 4k OLED launching 3 months from now. Hopefully it isn't too much more expensive.

-----------

Need to point out these OLED monitors are sitting unsold at $620 USD at Bestbuy in Canada. (the LG model)

Corsair and LG need to get the price down to $600 fast.

I want an OLED monitor so freaking bad, but I will NOT buy one until they fix the subpixel problem with text.

Yep, subpixel, price, longevity problems.

I'm using Dell 27" IPS monitor for the last 8 years, have been using a VA Dell 24" for 7 years before that, so I must say I definetly don't change the monitors too often.

honestly for that price I will buy a small Oled tv from LG, more value all together. if I lack space for an Oled tv, well, I will wait to have more space instead of buyin another overpriced 27" monitor... the text clarity issue is a very big no-no, except for the one that sit behind the desk only for gaming... lucky you.

Just waiting for these oleds to get proper text visibility and I'll grab one instantly.
This. Its so close, but just short of where it needs to be.

I'm waiting it out a year or two more.

Also I absolutely love the new award, how did we ever do without

I don't expect for the manufacturers to just give the market what we want. Nowadays it's the opposite, in the next years I predict a flood of articles and influencer videos on how subpixel problem isn't a problem but a snobism of uneducated few, and that burn in hasn't been a problem for over a decade!

Regarding the subpixel layout issue, it's completely unlikely to change with current WOLED/QD-OLED panels.

As for the burn-in, I have some interesting news: Corsair agreed to send the XENEON FLEX 45WQHD240 for a review and I plan to daily drive it for as long as possible. My use case is 80-90% work and 10-20% gaming, 8 hours per day on average. I plan to use the monitor at maximum available brightness with Brightness Stabilizer activated and retest the panel every month after the initial review to check both for burn-in as well as other types of panel degradation. We won't get answers quickly, but it should be a good demonstration of what you can expect from current-gen OLED panels in pretty much the worst possible scenario for such panel technology.

Oooo, looking forward to hearing updates! OLED Burn in is something that I am curious about, as someone looking for one, so it would be good to know how well it handles on the use case that you described.

Why do these monitors have to come with 240Hz refresh rates? I get that it's futureproofing, but how many people REALLY need so many frames? Why not make a 144Hz monitor and make it more affordable now instead?

Honestly, a 27" 144Hz 1440p monitor would be ideal for my current & future needs, but models like this and the similar Ultragear are too expensive.

More interested in seeing mini-LED monitors. Love my mini-LED TV.
Mini-LED is one of those marketing buzzwords that's very hard to nail down. It just means FALD backlight, which we've had in monitors for half a decade already.

How many zones do you need before an FALD backlight can be classed as a Mini-LED? Who knows. Each manufacturer will use their own value, but arguably for monitors it's not a definable standard. Some FALD monitors claim "Mini-LED" with just 320 backlights, the best on the market that I'm aware of has 2048 backlights.

Honestly, the majority of FALD monitors use 576 backlights which is arguably Mini-LED at that point?

I don't think it would be much cheaper. The OLED panel can do it, and the controller board doesn't have to do anything fancy to enable that - no overdrive or other complications.

Sure, companies could establish several "performance levels", sell us basic 60 Hz OLEDs, more expensive 120 and 144 Hz monitors, and extra expensive "hardcore gaming" 240 Hz monitors - all from the same panel and the same controller board. But it's kind of hard since the ordinary TVs already offer 120 Hz or more, and it was from the start one of the bragging points of OLED technology.

But I'm sure we will see even faster gaming monitors, for more money.

WOLED have this
WOLED still doesn't work with any subpixel text resolution, most notably ClearType.

Honestly, part of the problem is that ClearType is outdated garbage. We need Microsoft to accept that RGB stripe isn't a guarantee, and to make the ClearType "wizzard" an optional tool. I'd much rather work out what subpixel layout my display has using better tools than the stupid ClearType wizard, and then just tell windows "this is a BRG vertical stripe panel". It would be even better if that was included in the EDID and just passed to the OS without any user interaction whatsoever. I don't see why it should be that hard....
