I would have already thrown the memory modules in the trash at this point. Corsair clearly doesn't like you.

Also, I tried resetting the BIOS to defaults. It changed more settings than just the DOCP ones. Here:

Issue still remains, however.

Question: what about the CPU? I have heard tweaking C-State Control or CBS resolves system freezing in idle.
I told you the solution but you are ignoring me. I was right earlier about the memory but you where so confident it was correctly configured when I asked for screenshots but I proved you were wrong!

Your Windows installation is broken. Reinstall Windows!!!

Why should he do that when the issue isnt the memory? It is his Windows installation!

I need to know a new kit won't cause the issue to recur. So I am trying other avenues first.
So far, none of the tests I have run have shown any memory issues whatsoever. Plus, one of the screenshots in Thaiphoon has shown these modules work together just as good as a kit. Why should I run out and get new memory when I have already put $2300 in this build?
A new kit may be cheap to you, but the cost of the old and new memory modules combined would exceed that of the CPU. Plus there are almost no kits that I want available in stores - there are only individual modules.

This isn't exactly an ideal situation. And I'd prefer it didn't happen at all, but it has.

Oh, and @VuurVOS the memory test of OCCT passed as well. Though I admit it only ran for two minutes.

What's your power profile in Windows? I mean this

Mine doesn't have any Ryzen-specific power plans, but the High-performance one is selected by default.

Why are you doing this? Why are fooling around? Default tests of OCCT is 1 hour, why shorting it? Now you got a pass which has no value at all.

Ryzen power plan is only available for older Ryzen Processors. In your case the powerplan is not available since it is too new.

I am not saying this for fun for a third time:
Please do yourself a favor and do a clean Windows installation and dont install 3rd party crap.

I didn't set it for two minutes for this specific test - I must have done so for some other test earlier and forgotten about it.
I'm now running the 1-hour version.

Will be reinstalling Windows but that could take a while - so I will be able to do so only after a few days.

No errors detected on OCCT test.

The screenshot above was my own and I have a 5800X, Zen3 like OP has.

I have a 5900X and a 5600G. Both have the chipset drivers installed but there is no ryzen power plan visible.
My previous processor (3700X) did have the Ryzen power plan when the chipset driver was installed.

Source outside me which proves when a Zen3 processor is detected, the Ryzen power plan will not be installed:

In short the missing "Ryzen power plan" is not related to the freeze issue of cst1992.
He need to perform a clean installation of Windows. Then the freeze problem will be gone.

Weird. Though my current installation was done with a Zen2 CPU so that may explain it.

Not related to your problem.

About your system freeze. Does it slowly freeze the applications and operating system? Like first the app not responding and later on your not able to open the task manager?
In the taskbar the system clock is also frozen for some time but the mouse is still moving? If I describe the problem correctly, do a clean install of Windows as soon as possible ;)

You are correct. It doesn't freeze instantly - it does so gradually.

Freezing in-game seems like it could be a different issue, but I guess this one needs to be handled first.

I'll post further updates after a system reinstall.

At least for now we fixed your memory timings which was indeed an issue. Here's hoping a reinstall solves every remaining issue.

Bad memory settings can break Windows pretty quick. Some guys have good luck with Corsair mems, but from what I have seen most do not. At least with their cheaper stuff.

My 2nd system (R5 3600, Gigabyte B550 board) works flawlessly with Corsair RAM though it has a tame Vengeance LPX 3200 16GB kit with just XMP enabled.

Sweet man

I am not picking on them just to be a dick, on other forums they have a ton of issues.

And I still hold a grudge about my DDR2 from them. I have 2 pairs of XMS and a pair of Doms, and none will work with each other lol.

So, update:

My Windows 10 installation is gone. Completely.

I bought a new Windows 11 copy, and installed the same game on it back.

My old installation must have some funky things on it, because I am noticing a definite stability improvement. Microstutters are gone, and now things just look more stable overall.

I don't really like 11 due to Microsoft's drive to fix things that already work, but I guess I'll just have to come to terms with it.

BTW, the performance improvement might also be attributed to the fact that I don't have my antivirus installed yet. Here's hoping it doesn't mess with things when I do.

You don't need anything as Windows has its own. I can't even remember when I had a third party antivirus the last time.

I sincerely hope you didn't buy a new key as your Windows 10 license is valid for 11 as well.

Microsoft's antivirus software is quite disappointing. Back when I was a noob, I made the mistake of backing up an infected flash drive, resulting in the infiltration of an exceptionally potent virus(Gen.W32 or something). This virus not only disabled Windows Defender but also managed to infect nearly all the executable files on my PC. Interestingly, it even had a peculiar sense of humor – whenever I attempted to search for "anti-virus" in my browser, it was promptly closed.

Only Malwarebytes managed to defeat the dragon.

Rkill is another beauty you can install for those "malicious software removal tool"s lurking in your memory that won't let you close them.

I have an antivirus license that still has 1300 days left on it, so better use it than not.

I think we are about ready to wrap this thread, but I have a few things to clear out:
I forgot to ask. By any chance did you try to set DRAM voltage and timings manually instead of using the XMP option?
I'm using the XMP profile now, so this is sorted.
Aww OK. Don't know then. It's possible that the seller(s) in your area scrapped all the AM4 motherboards.
I think the sellers in the whole country scrapped them. I originally wanted to get a Gigabyte Aorus Elite, but they didn't have a single one in stock in the whole country.
This is a configuration issue since cst1992 is currently running his memory out of specs without a tested xmp profile.
Now I am, but HWINFO64 says I have a minimum tRC of 65 and tRFC of 550. Current values are 83 and 990. Does it matter? Profile is already applied so I'll have to apply these in the BIOS. Quoting another poster:
Like the other values that were not coming out right I think the tRFC value was/is probably wrong too and needs to be set manually.
OP can you try to manually put in the correct value based on SPD chip data (XMP values) and see if that helps.

There is likely a UEFI/BIOS tool you can use to look at the ram SPD chip data and get the correct value from the XMP table so you don't have to guess the value.

I just noticed that the AMD-V extension and secure boot are both disabled. Why ?
Still no idea about AMD-V (just must be disabled in BIOS), but Secure Boot is off because I was using an old version of Rufus for making the USB drive. It's enabled now with a newer version.
If this is the case, does it cause issues from day one? For me it has been running okay for the last two months since I built it.
Would like to reconfirm this. Because at the moment I would like to wait for a few months more to see if the issues come back before going out and changing the memory.

When a system of mine gets infected like that, the only thing I will consider is a full wipe and start all over again. Never trust a system which was fully infected.

Now I am, but HWINFO64 says I have a minimum tRC of 65 and tRFC of 550. Current values are 83 and 990. Does it matter? Profile is already applied so I'll have to apply these in the BIOS. Quoting another poster:
The XMP profile does set those timing. You still can do some tweaking for free extra performance without increasing the voltage. I suggest to make a new thread for that after you are certain the system is stable.

@eidairaman1 Anything the matter?

Not sure of that yet, but looks good. Let's wait a while and see.

The slow freezes are back. Looks like I have no option now but to buy new RAM modules.
