I'll give you that was a slick and funny reply to enter this situation with. Should I decide to part ways with this card I'll highly consider it.

I think I'm set up nicely to attack the 1000 population marker now... already mapped out how I'm going to double this town's size (top of screen already has two markets paused in construction there)... Not sure where I'm going to plop down the other half I might need yet

Maps can really vary in how they're generated. Your initial discovered area can easily not contain resources you need, like Sand, or Coal, even in the easiest biome. And that means: reroll the map... or scouting. These maps are effin huge!

Crate really went the extra mile here. Game version 0.9 and still buildings being added. Madness

I've recently re-played Star Wars: Dark Forces on the highest difficulty level. This 1995 DOS game is the first FPS set in the popular franchise:



My initial experience of this title was only a couple of years ago, when I completed it using an unfinished reverse-engineered port. This time I could take advantage of that port's successor, The Force Engine, which is feature-complete with many QoL improvements and some graphical enhancements. This was complemented by a community patch that resolves the game's remaining issues:



Dark Forces released only fourteen months after Doom, but in many ways it is a more advanced game. From the technical perspective, it features the ability to aim up and down, with vertical level design, has polygonal objects, transparencies, cutscenes, voice acting, and dynamic music. Gameplay wise, it offers alternative weapon fire modes, inventory items, crouching and jumping, plus complex environmental puzzles and an actual story line:



It's a really good game with varied environments, well designed maps and solid mechanics. The fact that a remaster is in the works is a testament to its enduring charm!

I play at the easiest and pacifist mode so its not very difficult if you get the mechanics... but its pretty hard even at normal difficulty otherwise. Even at easy though things can escalate quickly especially food reserves. Spoilage of food is huge in this game.

I just beat all three Crysis games on veteran, they aged quite well, I am going through them on hardest level next but no rush.

Starfield on the slowest roll ever like Starwars Fallen order, I'll get somewhere eventually, I hope.

1000 pop here I come. Five markets worth of town to get that capacity. Dayum

Building my town in a line, and then a V shape with one market to the south-center of the line, is very efficient. Picked one long edge of the line for bad Desirability/industry, and farms behind that; while I kept the other end mostly untouched so Foragers and hunters can do the work close to home. Workers are near more resources and you can stock most things quickly.

FFX HD Remaster has me living nostalgia heaven, I wasn't expecting to do my first play through of that game since its original launch when I was kid/early teen, but I just tried it out a few weeks ago and now am playing it every night before bed. I am glad turn based random battles are a thing of the past, but honestly I am enjoying it for the nostalgia. Yuna is still my favorite and it looks great and runs great on Steam Deck.

Nightdive Studios' remaster will launch on February 28, 2024. It will use a different engine, hovewer -- their in-house Kex. The creator of The Force Engine has been assisting in the project as a technical adviser.
