Hey peeps, just completed my mostly upgraded build

B650E Taichi Lite
Ryzen 7 7800X3D

G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) DDR5-6000
Coolermaster HAF 500 (2x 200mm front intake fans, 1x120mm rear exhaust
Deepcool LS520 acting (2x 120mm as exhaust into the top mount grill.

Questions I've got (now it's running)
1. Is there a preferred config of what connectors (fans, aio pump, aio fans) to connect to the motherboard ? (I assume the system is smart enough to realise something is connected to it)
2. What software would be the best fan tuning given the variance of manufacturers. Looking to keep it cool but ramp the fans down a little.
3. Other than PBO in bios, is Ryzenmaster the best way to tune the cpu (looking to get a little boost but reduce the temps a decent amount if possible - the standard up to 200mhz then a modest undervolt)
4. Lastly, what software would you guys use to control the rice lights (RGB)

I know this is reasonably ambiguous, but there might be some blatant obvious choices I'm unaware of, my last build was on an Asus X370 and I just let Q-fan do the work and tuned off the RGB since it wasn't what I was after.

I am using a aquacomputer octo for my fan control. Works fantastically, i use either water/cpu or gpu temp as a reference and the fans ramp up or down in relation to that. I just found the motherboard software is not good enough.

I guess there are cheaper options, but considering the flexability of the OCTO with extra inputs, it is worth it imo.

I can't justify spending 150+ aud on extra hardware to run my fan setup though.

Turns out the front 200mm's run at a fixed 800rpm (so they're not loud) so that only leaves my rear exhaust and cpu radiator fans which I can now see on the motherboard readouts.

Just need to decide what duty cycle to run my aio pump at and I think I can basic curve the rest of it

1. Not quite sure what you mean. Presumably the headers are clearly marked FAN, CPU and maybe also PUMP. Fans connect to fan, AiO to CPU.

2. You'll be able to do this easily in the BIOS, no need to buy any separate controllers. At least I assume that every single modern board has fan profiles in BIOS.

3. I checked out Ryzen Master, but ditched it and only set PBO in BIOS. Given how little a modern CPU can be overclocked, anything more is pointless overkill which won't net you anything extra.

4. No lights here.

I tried it, turns out because I am using the fan/argb hub in built into my case it drove everything connected to it at the same rpm.

Now running my aio pump at 80% (2k rpm)
the twin 120mm fans on the aio radiator at around 50-60% (1400ish rpm)
Front 200mm fans are stuck @ 800rpm and that's fine they're quiet
the rear exhaust 120mm is running about (1400rpm)

I will look to swap out the radiator aio fans as they're the only noisy ones in the build (deepcool aio vs coolermaster case fans)

I only just started using it. I like how you have a minimum. I hate when the fan ramps up and down up and down but with fan control I can do the maximum 1% downward movement per second. That way it can spin up when needed but then only slowly falls down even if temp falls faster.

Only thing is, for some reason this program, or perhaps its coincidence seems to have completely broken my mobo fan control. Now its like reversed or something. I put 'full speed' it will go to like 300rpm and if I go to manual it will go to 100% speed no matter what values I input. But it doesn't really matter as soon as I'm in windows and fan control takes over its all good.

And to answer OPs question for rgb I use open rgb. But it doesn't recognize my ram so I have to use fury control for that. There's other options out there with more functionality but I like this one because its light on resources and the colors stay even after the program is closed. Like I think there's background processes but there's nothing eating hundreds of mbs of ram like with signal rgb. Fury is pretty light too, but... only for fury ram so kind of irrelevant for you I guess. Who knows maybe you'd like signal rgb more.

For gpu fan use msi afterburner. And bios or fan control for cpu. Actually you can use fan control for gpu too.

I'm tweaking my gpu fan and voltage with Adrenaline (AMD card) and had some pretty clean success with it.

I'm defintely going to have a look at open rgb and google fury control to see whatelse is similar/available.

I find it odd I can't sync or even turn off the rgb on my ram.

Sorry that was just me ranting, fury control is just for kingstom ram. For all in one rgb software you'll want to look at openrgb or signalrgb. Openrgb should work with ram it just doesn't with mine.

Rant away, I support peoples right to have a rant when they need too :)

Thanks, I'm going to try openrgb first and see if I like it.

Been using openRGB for ages now, it works fine, but i don't have RGB ram, so cannot comment on that.

OpenRGB lets me play with the ram RGB as well, so this covers all my RGB bases. Thanks heaps ppls :)
