1000w XOC or Matrix flash to Suprim X 4090?

Has anyone with an MSI RTX 4090 flashed their vBios with XOC 1000w or the new Asus Matrix 4090?

It would vastly improve the power boost ability?

Just curious, if you did, how did it go? which exact bios version did you use?
 
nothing will change. the lowest end and highest end 4090 are overclocked maybe 2-3% apart. flashing a different bios to an already higher end model will do nothing at all.
 
I wonder why manufacturers didn't want to honor the warranty with burn't out connecters.
 
Probably just will brick the card. At best you get zero change In performance. Cooling and GPU quality will determine max freq.
No it wont. There is hundreds of people who have successfully flashed 1000w bios's to all kinds of cards. Eveything from FE to Strix to TUF to EVGA Gigabyte cards. vBios is vBios.

All it lets you do is instead of using 480 watts target, you can apply 600w target and thus, allows you to increase frequency and memory that otherwise wouldnt have been possible.

do you want my original bios or the original upgraded roms? the liquid X has a stock 530w limit. I have my 600w original, but its old, which allows the like -98% downclock that caused crashing. Post patch the supreme X got a new 530w limit. I'll attach my 666w galaxy bios too for the lols.

YOUR A LIFE SAVER. I got no idea about the other bios's but I used that 600w MSI bios you provided and the nvflashk and bypassed any checks. It works flawlessly.

Now I'm able to run 1.1v finally. What's the power target for that particular bios? is it 450w or 480w?

Whatever the case, it now allows me be to push +400 to memory (previously only 200), and +300 to frequency (previously only 100)

I'm not sure which shitty bios was on my Suprim X facotory, but it would only let me use MSI Afterburner up to 108 for Power.

I'm fairly certain I'm safe, during stress test/bench I range from 450- 500watts'ish. I've never actually seen it hit 600w. In any event, I am using my OEM 12VHPWR cable from MSI and do not use any funky adapters that could burn up. My GPU never even goes above 52c and 68c on the HotSpot.

for the stock 600w bios pre-patch target is 480w.

Because when properly plugged in, it's fine. Minus the Cablemod fiasco if the cable is done properly it's fine.

Hey man, just wanted to say thanks. I updated my Gigabyte 4090 AERO OC to the Asus BIOS you posted which unlocked 1.1v and some additional wattage and in 3DMark I've been able to get a few legendary scores and 1st place currently in SteelNomad Vulcan test.
 
i dont think you should mess with BIOS unless there is no alternative with your problem or or you have another PC to access the web in case you mess it up

The original posters question was "It would vastly improve the power boost ability?" - and to answer the original posters question is yes, it does increase the boost availability at the cost of much more power. He doesn't have a problem with his GPU and most people who do this do it to get their original voltage of 1.1v restored to their 4090 GPU's or because their overclocker's.

Some manufacturers like Asus still provide 4090's with BIOS that provide the full power of the card and this is what people are doing. Changing your BIOS to one of these Asus Bios isn't and technically shouldn't cause damage to your GPU, unless lets say the power cut out during a flash. It's speculated Nvidia cut voltage when 4090's started catching on fire but this was due improper power delivery which should have been fixed with the new ATX 3.0 spec, which my power supply supports and maybe is why Asus started restored the 1.1v that Nvidia neutered to 1.07v on these cards.

Cards made after a certain date apparently can't be flashed to the BIOS that support 1.1v but I'm not sure about this.

My ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4090 AMP Extreme AIRO , I use default , from 450 watts to 500 watts , for a few more frames , lot of heat , rather be safe than sorry , over a year with my 4090 .

Just my own opinion but why people flash their cards to get a little gain? I'm hella not touching the bios of my 3080 myself. :D

Who buys a 4090 that can't afford electricity? LOL
Maybe it's just me, but considering that the RTX 6000 Ada is rated at 300W instead of 480W or 600W, and that video card generations aren't iterating that quickly anymore, maybe those who buy a 4090 would also afford to replace it in relatively short time, even if they don't burn the 12VHPWR connector out, not that's their fault when the connector is supposed to support 600W.

That's also coming from someone (me) who had detuned their graphic card by 30% in power target but maybe 10% in performance. Hopefully they'd dial them back for normal use, but who am I to say that? It's a philosophical difference.

In many scenarios 500-530w is not enough to maintain that 1.1v, so the frequency drops because of the frequency/voltage curve. I've seen some scenarios where 600w isn't enough either. Please educate yourself further on this subject.

YMMV as always, but flashing your vbios is relatively low risk imo. To, alomost, mitigate any risk I always recommend using a dual-triple vbios GPU and make sure your system is on a UPS.

That being said I only ever "bricked" one laptop with a bad vbios only because I didn't realize the laptop's iGPU was disabled on that particular laptop. I still recovered the laptop by using text-to-speech prompts and blind flashing back. For modern GPU's this isn't an issue as most of them have a vbios switch.

Luckily, for you, this information is free and just takes a little time and diligence to research. I recommend overclock.net forums, but I'm sure there are other reliable sources out there as well.

I'm on a 4090 Gigabyte Gaming OC flashed to Asus Strix since October 2022. I've had zero issues with an OC and 600w limit under heavy use. Just switched it to watercooled and have the same (now better and cooler) performance as the day I got it. Still using the 12VHPWR adapter that came with the card (always fully seat).
