Was looking to get a new monitor.
Which monitor you guys suggest for 3080 and 5600x combo?
I play almost all games except for competitive shooters.

Update: I already have HP OMEN 1080p 24" 144hz + Samsung 4k 43" 60hz
Will probably go with 34" monitor 175hz from Samsung G8 or something much cheaper.
But not sure if worth paying 3 times more just cuz its OLED instead of VA.

I would get a 1440p if you mostly do gaming, a video from Hardware unboxed can be found here, discussing all resolutions. If you dont care about fps much and love Movies/series, i would get a 4k.

1440p high refresh is the safest bet. Even with DLSS I wouldn't enjoy 4k on a 3080 but everyones min ok performance level is different.

Best of both world, you can play in UW (RTS, Driving games, FPS, even sports games ...) and if a game is too demanding, set the game resolution in 2560 x 1440 !

The 3080 is very capable for 4k, adjusting some settings and it'll be good (especially the useless RT) plus DLSS/FSR2.

I would suggest getting an OLED 4k, anything with 4k120hz, it'll make a huge difference in your gaming experience. If you care about getting high FPS then get a 1440p 144hz.

If you are set on a 4K monitor, I would go with something that will let you upgrade with capping your frames, like a Gigabyte ‎M28U 28.0 144 Hz monitor if your budget is tight. You could also look at an ultra-wide 1440 monitor as well, like the LG UltraGear 34GP63A-B 34.0 160 Hz monitor.

Also, if you go up in monitor resolution, you can always lower the video resolution down to get playable frame rates like 3840 x 2160 to 2560 x 1440. The same holds true for the ultra-wide monitors as well, 3440 x 1440 to 2560 x 1080. < This is what I do with my ultra-wide monitor.

Either 1080p with a million Hz refresh rate or 1440p with a half million Hz refresh rate if you care about smoothness more.
If you are up for fidelity 4K is a no brainer.

If you never used an oled before you'll be fine but after switching to oled I'll never be able to go back at least for gaming.

RTX 3080 10gb, is the best for 3440x1440 75hz or 2560x1080 100hz.... IPS panel !

put my 2 cents:

I have 3070 Ti, 2K 27" 144 Hz Samsung VA and previously, now using as a second 4K 27" 60 Hz Dell IPS.

LOOOVE my setup.

Not going to anything "wiiiide" as I have small desk and this 2 take all the space lol.

ALSO IMPORTANT!!!

27" is SMALL for 4K. I don't give a ..., I can EZ see everything ultra small at 4K res, because I sit close to the screen. But average Joe and I when rest in chair won't see things or will strain eyes, so it's better used at 2K scaling (150%) or 125% scale which is 3072*1728 so for native 4K you want all these "modern major trendy" 31"/32" stuff. I can barely see a diff between 60 and 75 Hz but definitely I see 144 vs 60/75. So for pictures, photo editing and comfort web surfing and/or big document reading my 4K is my love. For games I jumped into high-Hz boat and got this 2K 144 Hz. I don't see ANY point in going more than 144, but this is just my opinion.

I would go with an Ultra Wide 3440 x 1440 (144+Hz). Super immersive, easier to drive than 4k & thanks to the ultra wide field of view you get the edge in some games.

If you don't want to pay the OLED premium go for a good IPS panel. Just don't expect OLED black levels and response times.

Make sure this is not burning OLED. These ones hate static images.

Geez, that's some typical "Murican" thing. Pretty common over there to let stuff running when leaving the house, but on vacation is really next level of stupid, lol.

I ended up buying the 34" 3440x1440 165Hz HP Omen 34c
It is a little bit better than the TN panel I had previously, went for Omen monitor because that is also the one I had before.
The reason why I didnt buy the Samsung G8 is simply price and 0 guarantee, because I bought it on another country and delivered it on my home, by hand through the airport.
So it was a pain but ended up with perfect results.
So far what surprised me the most was 0 performance loss, because in Full HD games use more CPU than GPU.
5600x was surely bottlenecking 3080 and results were almost identical, if not better in some games.
In Cyberpunk I had same FPS as before, but before was a drop at 85% GPU usage, now more like 99%, with same FPS.
From 1080p to 3440x1440.
I also just saw that Samsung G8 price dropped just a few days ago, I bought this monitor like 2 weeks ago.
All in all, I am happy with the purchase and it was a big risk.

Reason why I didn't go with 27" is because I want 34" also for coding and video editing and it is immensely better for my workflow (100 tabs in Chrome)

I'm using the same size/res monitor with my 3080, it's not so bad. and it's a nice sized screen and res for desktop.
