I've been using this SSD for years in my previous build with no issues - but as a non-OS drive.

Yeah, more like symptoms I would expect if it were an OS drive.

I'll install these over the weekend, but what are your thoughts based on the stickers?

Its model number is listed on your motherboard's QVL (if using Hynix chips), so let's pray it just works with its XMP profile. 3600CL18 shouldn't give anyone the headache your Corsair kit gave you.

And I agree with @freeagent. Install it asap :D
As far as swapping parts go, swapping RAM sticks is one of the fastest things possible.

That's why it has to wait, there's a few hoops to jump through.

I'm also trying to stall it a few days to accumulate as much luck as possible.
I actually want to do it on Friday (my birthday) but that is a working day, so it'll be done on Saturday instead.
Fingers crossed!

That was actually the only criterion I used. If it's not on the QVL, I wasn't going to buy it. Period.

On an Intel system, yeah - probably I'd just switch the sticks.
But here, I really don't have an idea of what I'd need to do (and what I'd not need to do):

- Taking screenshots of ZenTimings and other software for comparison purposes (with and without DOCP enabled)
- Clearing CMOS by removing the battery and waiting for 30 minutes
After the switch:
- Doing memory tests using MemTest86, TestMem5, OCCT
- Reinstalling/recovering Windows (I'm still getting microstutters and the occasional freeze - if that is not resolved by the switch, hey - it sure did on a clean Windows install)

Did the switch early.
When whatever this bug is starts targeting your system drivers you know it's bad.

Only installed some basic software so far - will post screenshots when the rest of the software is installed.
RAM is performing well - no issues so far at 3600MHz.

Could also be a bad MediaTek wireless lan card. If a different driver doesn't fix the error of the wireless lan card, you should consider to RMA the motherboard if you are planning to use wifi.

It's affecting all drivers, not just one of them. I am (was) getting errors related to the graphics driver and antivirus as well. A driver reinstall was good enough to get the card working.

Just a reminder, if you overclock at all and your system crashes just once, your OS can be corrupted.
What if I didn't even overclock? That damn thing crashed at non-XMP frequencies. I'm using the new kit now.

By the way, if my OS does get corrupted, what are the options besides a reinstall? I did sfc /scannow and chkdsk, but the extent that they work to is limited.

If the automated tools (which you've used) don't take care of it then you're left having to reinstall. Simple as that, sorry.

And no, your system doesn't have to be overclocked to have the OS corrupted in a crash, the bad RAM crashes could have lead to corruption as well.

Look at the memory timings.
Instead of the optimal 18-22-22-42, I'm getting 26-25-25-58.

My system also tends to experience weird freezing issues - could that be related to this?
Whenever I quit a game or run a memory test, my whole system freezes up such that I can't even open Task Manager. Even Ctrl-Alt-Del doesn't do anything.
I am forced to reset the system using the motherboard's reset button.

System specs:

Processor: Ryzen 5 5600X
Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix X570-E Gaming Wifi II

Check the board's QVL. I can already tell you neither the Corsair kit you started with, nor the Patriot kit you just got are listed for this board. It's been my experience that boards that support Ryzen are really picky about RAM. You should probably return or exchange these for a set from this list. Cured similar and worse ills on three Ryzen systems I own, a 5900X, a 3600X and a 1700.

Yes, I understand, but at some point I thought it was asked if os corruption could result from crashes not related to overclocking. Maybe I misunderstood.

No, you didn't.
I just hope getting new sticks has solved the issue.
What I did ask in addition is if it gets corrupted, what I could do besides just reinstalling the system - to which you replied:
If the automated tools (which you've used) don't take care of it then you're left having to reinstall. Simple as that, sorry.

It crashed. Again.

Man, I'm starting to regret ever building this system.

None.

I guess there would have been if it at least bluescreened.
It doesn't even bluescreen. It just freezes up.

At this point, I would do anything just to know what exactly is wrong with this system. I'm tired of shooting in the dark.

Sorry to hear that. FWIW I have the exact same memory kit (well, the 2x 32GB one) on my 5900X + X570S Aorus Pro AX and never had one iota of trouble with it.

The Patriot kit is listed. But his system is most probably compromised from the frequent crashes caused by the Corsair kit. A Windows reinstall is a must, I say.

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
This is anecdotal but I have experienced this and seen this way too often, corsair memory kits and AMD platforms are nothing but trouble.
my current build use Corsair RAM and i had crashes/freezings issues, although i solved it ... my Adata XPG SE770G ext. SSD died, it showed as "local drive" inaccessible... once i unplugged it : no more crashes ...

and the current RAM (Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB "for Ryzen" 3600 C18 QVL listed ) did work flawelessly with the previous R5 3600, too ...
Sounds like it could well be a faulty SSD.
I've been using this SSD for years in my previous build with no issues - but as a non-OS drive.
Yeah, more like symptoms I would expect if it were an OS drive.
mine was not an OS drive but it was the culprit  (also, @RJARRRPCGP , the OP mention using it BEFORE as a non-OS drive ... right now: it's the OS drive )

well, luckily it was just a STEAM library drive with a few programs on it and only 1tb (hilarious ... that one dies and i just bought an infamous Sandisk Extreme V2 4tb ... hope that one will not die  4tb loss is worse than 1tb loss  )

None.

I guess there would have been if it at least bluescreened.
It doesn't even bluescreen. It just freezes up.

At this point, I would do anything just to know what exactly is wrong with this system. I'm tired of shooting in the dark.
sure it's not an SSD failure, as i wrote above : not necessarily the OS drive.

It crashed. Again.
Man, I'm starting to regret ever building this system.
I wish you could try ECC ram. It would be interesting to see if the OS reports corrected errors. Perhaps another component is destabilizing your ram?
