intel also got the biggest disappointment award as they said 14th gen is only a number increase and nothing interesting in performance

AMD ran away with almost all the awards. 7800x3d took around 5 as one was a 2nd place to the threadripper. even 5800x3d took an award as best older gen upgrade.

they gave a pity award to the intel i3 HAHAHA LMFAO!!!

Amd is killing it! far more variety and specialty chips. when he says "intel is so far behind" lmfao!

That's why you don't trust reviews. The 7800x 3d getting the best overall cpu is a joke. It's literally bad and expensive in everything except gaming. It's like a worse version of the 7700k, and that cpu was horrible

they only took 1 award and its for a measly i3. if anything hes the more reliable reviewer in my eyes. I dont ever watch that auzi unbox guy j1cent or even the linux tech thief. 7800x3d can do gaming better and can do some productivity work. and very power efficient as well.

but of course itll always be the same reactions. one will love it the other wont

I'm just saying, the 7800x 3d is a slower more expensive version of the 7700k, and damn the 7700k was horrible. How can the 7800x 3d be considered good is beyond me. If it had intel branding it would have been flamed into oblivion

96mb cache I guess does the trick. id love that threadripper for editing videos. well at least amd is trying to be more innovative. intel sits on their ass milking people. amd'ers will praise, and intel'ers will complain, and vice versa.

Let's hope that the ZEN 5 series will be a completely different "beer". Isn't it time to open a general forum thread to discuss them? Still, it's probably no more than a year away from a market presence, and there's been a fair amount of rumors and leaks piling up.

It's still 8core ccds, so big meh. I'm wating for 12core ccds with 3d cache and then I may jump to amd, assuming they also do something with that power draw on light loads.

I upgraded from a 5800X to a 7800X3D. I use it for gaming and not much else that requires huge grunt. It's given a massive increase in fps, as well as a stable fps, and the power draw is so low the fan is never audible. Mind you, I have a good fan. I notice the speed differernce in some applications, where software editor packages would hang, they don't, as the 7800X3D is a heap faster.

It's certainly not the best for productivity, but AMD sell it as a good all rounder (which it is) and an excellent gaming chip (which it definitely is).

Which is completely, entirely true. Intel "14th gen" is a rubbish rebrand of 13th gen with zero new features or improvements, quite literally nothing more than a marketing exercise.

yea I need a build for vid/pic editing and gaming (not a hardcore gamer though) and im considering the am4 5900x or 5800x3d but the 7800x3d is decently priced and I could upgrade later. it could hold me for many years. so its saving time and counting the pennies. I feel that it got the gaming side down, but the editing part will be a light compromise. great efficiency too.

you use it for video editing? what programs?

I want to learn video editing. probably davinci resolve or maybe edius as I hate adobe with a passion. but I am a pro photographer so need it for photo editing which doesnt need a super brute pc but the am5 will do all the tasks fine I feel. I think its the better compromise and Im sure there will be more cpus released later

I would assume the 7700K is a typo for 7700X... if it is really meant for 7700K then.........okay.

I looked at the text version of the video. I found the "best overall" and "best balanced" kinda confusing. GN did give the best balanced CPU award to 13600K (I assume it is for the better productivity performances, but I'm putting words in GN's mouth here)
That said, 7800X3D is excellent in gaming and "good enough" in productivity for most people (I struggle to word this properly. English is not my 1st language, don't beat me up!)

No you won't stop lying to yourself and this forum
If its got a red tint, you get all these weird thoughts, you'll find something to not buy it in the end, stop deluding yourself. You're biased and that's fine, aren't we all.

X3D's are the best thing happening to CPU's since the chiplet. Another such invention you've been strongly against because Intel didn't have it yet. I don't think your view on things carries any merit.

I already have 4 amd laptops and an amd desktop. What?

Besides strawmans, can you actually address my point?

How is it a good all a rounder though? It's slower than much cheaper cpus in both ST and MT performance.

I can't see how it's not a worse version of the 7700k

14th gen is only a number increase and nothing interesting in performance
Yeah, because 13th and 14th gens don't differ from 12th in terms of effective instructions per clock and the only difference is more cores and GHz (with excessive TDP in higher-end 13th and 14th gen models) + Intel APO only working in 14th gen CPUs (for strictly marketing reasons).

I'd also mention that OC ban on i3 and i5 non-K CPUs makes negative sense like never before. They are so far behind K SKUs in core count already...

Not to mention LGA1700 is a geometrical crime. A CPU MUST BE SQUARE.

Then don't say anything at all, why do you have to attack me personally, especially since you are not even accurate. I have 1 intel + nvidia system and 5 full amd ones, but somehow I'm an amd hater. If that sounds reasonable to you, okay

This is a disqualification, as are your comments in the VRAM topic the other day. Discussing things with you is fruitless, sucks energy and gives nothing back. Might as well talk to a wall. You enjoy doing that without me.

Again then don't say anything. Making personal attacks which arent even true, and I cna prove they are not true, is not a method that gives you any points

So what's the best overall cpu for you?

For me it's either the 7800X3D or the 7950X3D.
Or if you want best of both worlds and not the 7950X3Ds price, then ...7900X3D.

In any case I don't see any Intel CPU as best overall one.

7950x 3d or 14900k. If price is taken into account then 14700k / 13700k.

Best overall, to me, means being top or near the top on any workload, single multi gaming or what have you.

7800X3D is excellent in gaming and "good enough" in productivity for most people
this is the reason. it "can" do productivity pretty well. and the benefit of gaming. and at $322 and going down to $300 when Ill get it its a huge difference to the 3950x I was considering. it will need a good gpu for 1440+ gaming. and gpu is a sector I hate talking about with the theft going on there. your english is fine.

I hear that "АMD is killing it" for quite some time now, but since I upgrade slow I simply enjoy what I have from Intel. What I find interesting is when you look for "reasonable" rig recommendations on Adobe ecosystem: Premiere, Photoshop you get i5+nvidia for the CUDA cores. I think I5s with integrated GPUs are still a fine choice even with six cores in 2023.

But then you could argue any cpu is good enough for gaming, especially considering most people don't have a 4090 or even if they do, they don't play on 1080p with medium settings (that's how he is testing).

Absolutely, the use cases for various CPUs/segments are extremely broad on MSDT. Part of what used to be HEDT has moved to the consumer segment too, in a seamless transition you can upgrade from some midrange 6c12t to a 16c32t monster, or even more.

We just have a lot of choice right now and honestly for most things you really don't need a recent CPU at all. CPU has leaped way ahead of the computational needs. We're in the 'wants/nice to have' territory for sure.

I agree. You missed power consumption but I'm pretty sure you include this as well.

I see the Frankenstein 7900X3D as the best of both/all worlds, including price, power consumption out of the box etc.
Also, although it shouldn't matter much, since we're talking about cpus only, but the platform gives a plus to the X3Ds.
