The SilverStone Alta F2 marks the evolution of the Alta series, which stands for SilverStone's unwavering commitment to a chassis without compromises. At $1000, it has some seriously big shoes to fill to also provide a unique kind of value, likely catering to those going for the highest end-components.

Heh. I don't mind the cost of it but what you are getting for it is meh. I miss those massively over costed Silverstone, LianLi, Abee, Windy Soldam computer cases of the early 2000s.

What are the specs of the pre build system, CPU, GPU, RAM? I don't see them in the description, but according the price there should be

I was looking at this case as it does look rather nice, also being one of the few that support SSI-EEB, but that price is well over twice what its worth imo..

Yea, it's a nice case for sure, but I certainly don't see anything innovative enough or revolutionary enough here that would tempt me to spend $500 on it, let alone $1k....

What's the feature that makes Silverstone believe this case is worth $1000? The only feature I see is that it officially supports E-ATX. They already has multiple cases that have the 90 degree motherboard rotation(FT05 &RV05), and even though they were expensive, I don't believe any of them were ever even close to $1000.

This run must be so limited that it's making the cost so high. It fills a niche within a niche. People with extremely expensive E-ATX motherboards(which are low volume) that don't really care about aesthetics(this is not a pretty case), but still want to see their components(window), but want those components to be in a different configuration from other cases(to 'be different'), and want to spend way too much money for it all(2x higher price than most reasonable cases).

Heck my Thermaltake Core X9 was $150 and it's huge. It also does horizontal mount, crazy amounts of HDDs, fans, dual PSU support, and can even stack. I really don't see the appeal of this case at anywhere near $1,000. Maybe at $500 and only if they got rid of the plastic and that's still a big maybe.

If this is anything like the F1 due to limited run and shipping the cost was about 30-40% higher than it would have otherwise been. Doing limited run aluminum is always going to be a really expensive proposition these days. While I love the design I feel much the same about the case as I did the F1: it's simply too expensive for what is being delivered even if I understand why it costs so much.

Gorgeous and well constructed case! As someone who fell in love with FT02 builds with 180x3 rads shoved in the bottom, I'm looking forward to what people do with this case. It's expensive, but this is a flagship product that pays tribute to a case that revolutionized the market while modernizing and improving on it in every metric. I will say this, though:

What is Silverstone thinking advertising a $1k case with a $50 air cooler!?

I hope this review goes to show the value of the engineering & thermal development work we've put into this case! The ALTA F2 is arguably the best overall cooling case you can buy right now as it broke lowest temperature record in 6 of the 12 thermal testing parameters in this review's thermal tests (other ones were within 1-3 degrees of first place). This feat was accomplished while being one of the quietest at load, merely 1.2 dBA louder than the quietest case on the chart (5th quietest case out of 74 tested by TPU thus far)!

PC Magazine's test on the ALTA F2 also showed similar results with other flagship cases (breaking record, one of the bests in cooling, quietest).

At time of photo shoot, the Hydrogon D120 was our top air cooler (admittedly designed for larger SFF cases) as we had already retired the likes of HE01 and HE02 flagship air coolers a while ago. We do plan on releasing new, bigger twin-tower style air cooler soon though!

If you haven't seen it, here are a couple of gorgeous builds with ALTA F2 from GGF and JCustom:

Sorry, this case just doesn't say "high end" to me. I have a Phanteks Enthoo 718 that cost me $200 and is far more usable and aesthetically pleasing than this thing. As someone mentioned previously, the angled HD cages are ugly in front and just do not look pleasing on a $1K case. The other issue is the location of the MB. I've never understood placing the IO panel anywhere but the back of the case. I don't want to have to route all my IO cables into the case, thereby complicating every connection. I can get great thermals out of any case if I install good fans and organize the internal components properly. Sorry Silverstone, love a lot of your products but this one just doesn't make sense to me, especially at that price point.

Could that off-axis graphics card mount put additional stress or uneven wear on the fans?

^ Don't know but it seems pointless (just aesthetic), as are the skewed angles they put the drive bays on.
This is just an evolved Raven layout with OK build materials, why they think anyone will pay $1K for this escapes me.

I really like the case. I think it's missing some solid carrying handles to stick out to be honest, but $1K maaaaan......waaaay outta my league. It's just you know they still have their RV05 in serial production for like $120 and you still get 90 degree GPU....yeah you won't be able to make it vertical, but really? 1K? Definitely getting into "The most expensive PC cases" made it into serial production.

EDIT: and some form of wheels, ball bearings anything that make it roll. It's a 21KG chassis?!?! My neck, my back...
